  1. 2-way etiquette?

I personally DESPISE nextel for this very reason. And its the direct connect that keeps me from going nextel. Every bunghole in my area has one it seems. It sends me into fits of rage just to be in a resturant and hear "chirp chirp" in the background. But my vote is to chirp and wait for a response. If no response, wait 10 minutes and try again. But never just start blasting your potty mouth. If its a friend or business man, you never know were they are and why they didn't respond, so just keep your panties out of a wad and wait. RUnning your mouth to someone who didn't respond only shows what a true idiot you are.
  2. The X-Jet debate

:lglolly: I never have these draw issues with my X-JET! LoL. Sorry I couldn't resist. I like both options actually. But if its not too windy out, I will pack chems just because I can flat rock with an X-Jet. I will hesitantly admit though, I can certainly get a more usable stream higher with DSing than X-Jeting. For my trigger gun I use a Sutner with a simple QC at the end, no wand. Nice and short and easy to work with. If I need to sneak a couple extra feet, I can switch to either a 3' wand or DS. But generally I find the xjet to be my choice. Maybe if I did more DSing I would change.
  3. Can a BBS be an industry leader?

I think a well marketed BBS could definately position themselves to impact the industry. This could be positively or negatively, depending on your view or posistion. Impact on contractors: Possible convince the would be customer that certifications X Y & Z have to be maintained, certain "group" memberships and associations values could be falsely over inflated. They could convince the customer that certain credentials are mandatory. Impact on chemical industry: Again, by pushing chems and over hyping methodologies, contractors who chose other methods or chemicals could potentially lose business. There are so many ways that this could be done. And its all about one thing, money. The successful industry BBS make money off advertising. So if company A offers a BBS owner better incentives over company B, then they are going to push Company A. Its simple business savy. That is why so many boards ave rules about talking about brand names and supply companies. If they are a competing company with a board sponsor, then it is against the board owners best interest to let members openly discuss alternatives. BBSs often become advertising grounds for the supply chain. I have seen it happen to many many good BBS throughout the years. A BBS that is trly dedicated to an industry (any industry) has closed membership and non-searchable threads. (Search engine searchable) There is no "lurking" because in order to read you hav to be a member. Again, its all about incentives, kickbacks and cold hard cash. BBS are searchable for one reason, it benefits the sponsor. . .just just happens to be putting cash into the pockets of the owner. Let's look at Microsoft. They are by FAR NOT the best operating system on the market. Infact, they are ridden with security flaws, instability and bugs. THey are not the most stable. They are the industry leader because they have marketed themselves to be where they are. A BBS with a great marketing plan could potentially affect an industry in the same way. This is why many many contractors do not openly discuss their trade "secrets" anymore. They are tired of sharing their secrets with the world. This includes customers as well as competition. There is nothing that we use that average Joe cannot go get himself. Supply companies will never protect us, they only want to move product. They don't care who you are, only if you have cash. Most BBS won't protect us, because they wan to be well known and to be able to go to sponsors and say "we have 10000 visitors a day and 20000 members who posts 5000 messages a day" They larger the numbers the larger the rewards. So yes, a BBS could easily lead an industry if marketed correctly. I am sorry if I offended anyone. But these are the facts. This is the cold hard truth. Its all about economics. For less than $10 a month you can register a domain name, host a BBS (vBulletin can be set up by anyone with minor skills) and start positioning yourself to do so. The only hard part is attracting members and convincing the general public you are the leading authority in your industry. It takes no certifications or license to do so. The overhead to run a boards is monetarily nothing, but the time investment could be grueling. So if you are blessed with a silver tongue, you have half the battle complete.
  4. I think Barry hit it with the overlaps being cleaner then. Couple other things that could be going on. . . Pressure washer not putting out GPM/Pressure that it was? If you have the SLIGHTLEST leak/drip on the pressure side this can drop you a couple hundred PSI. Orings in your quick connects can go bad and are cheap to replace. A connection could be lose. Something could need to be resealed with teflon tape. Water supply is less than 4GPM and causing your washer to starve a little for water? Pump has lots of miles on it and just not able to put out the pressure or GPM? Unloader bad or backed off? I have seen people use the offloader to back the pressure down. (why not spend 6 bucks for the right nozzle and QC?) If your Off loader is backed off you will get less GPM and PSI. The best way to test all of these is with a pressure gauge and flow meters. I know you can get pressure gauges and a flow meter to test water spigot output, I have both. Not sure where or if you could get a flow meter to test the GPM on the presure side. But if you are getting cleaner stripes due to overlap, then the first pass is not cleaning like it should.
  5. Wax additive for vinyl

Has anyone used any of the ESpec chems that have the Glass Enhancers or "Superflow Polymers" inthem? I was curious how this performed in comparison to a wax rinse after the fact.
  6. Questions from the new guy

Chems are something you just have to try and play with for yourself. The first step in finding good chems is to stop shopping for them at auto parts stores, home depot, lowes and walmart. Most of these if applied straigh from the bottle wont compare to the things we use ar anywhere from 5:1 even up to 40:1. Use the seearch button. All these concerns have been addressed on this site already. I found 2 or your 3 answers in about 5.32 seconds.
  7. How many arms do you have on your cleaner? 3? If so you can drop to two arms. This will force you to have to slow down a little, but you will get overall better pressure per nozzel with 2 versus 1. But alone with Barry, better chems will help emulsify the dirt and lift ir better. The best solution is to get more GPM...5.6 or more. And even better, hot water.
  8. A Little Pick-Me-Up After a Bad Day

Who is Wayne Gretzky anyway? That's a joke! I know he plays billiards. That was a joke too. Ignore me, I am retarded.
  9. Cleaner loses an arm

ACK that is terrible. As if loosing a limb isnt bad enough, but to have it pulled off. Sounds like some OSHA violation there to me. Where were the lockouts on the machines electrical circuitry? A proper lockout proceedure followed to the letter would have prevented this. The machine should NOT have been able to be powered on had a lockout tag been in place with her PERSONAL lock holding it on. That's sad. I smell lawsuit.
  10. Scary Problem

OH GOODNESS, as a parent of 3 myself, I cannot imagine what the little guy was expiriencing! Glad to know all will be fine!
