Burner Nozzle/Electrode Adjustment Configuration
VanDiesel99 posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have a Hydrotek with a Wayne Oil Fired Model EHA 120 volt burner that is acting up. The transformer works, the fuel flows, the electrodes create a spark but it doesn't seem to run long. It will run for a while(fire) but then it will go back to cold. The resets have to be hit occasionally but I believe the problem is in the arrangement of the electrodes. I changed the burner nozzle about 6mos ago and its never been the same. Does anybody have a GOOD diagram of how the electrodes have to be aligned? I used one when I put it back but somehting wasn't right(the diagram was vague). I had to bend the little copper receptors on the back of the electrodes when I put it back in there so I figure something is wrong with the way it is aligned. Thanks guys -

Burner Nozzle/Electrode Adjustment Configuration

It burns cleanly at first with some slight white smoke. Gets very hot then cools down completely and won't refire. Fuel filter was just replaced. -
Anybody have any good tips on first time home buying and good sources for cheap financing? Looking to take advantage of the fact that I am still a full time student and have never bought a house before. I have good credit and a lot of it, and its time I take advantage of it. It seems there are people from all walks of life in this business(frequenting this site) so I thought this would be one of the first places to get some good info. Thanks in advance

Thanks thats all good advice. My master plan is to live in this house while I complete school, which will save me quite a bit in rent. I had also planned to rent out a room or two to help pay for it while I am still in school(although I do still work full time). I was going to look for a fixer upper because I am pretty skilled carpenter(been doing that since I was 16). Planned on fixing it up in spare time while I live there and maybe make some money later selling it. It all sounds good on paper, just need to find a house that will fit the bill.

One of the main hoses that I use I have been using for the past 4 years. I don't know the brand, but it came with a Hydrotek I bought. I have had to cutout a couple of bad spots and just had it joined back together at a hydraulics shop. I believe a perfectly good hose can get "lucky" and be damaged anytime and the entire hose is still in good shape.

Anybody ever get a pic of the bars on a Maxima surfacer? -

Are the bars steel or aluminum? A pic of the bars would be awesome if you ever get a chance. -

Nice. So Mel, the Maxima is four bars? Its hard to find a pic of stuff like that on the whisper wash website. -

I might have to try that out, if it doesn't work I am gonna hit you over the head with it Jeff. :) What angle/orifice do you use for your tips? -

Thats a nice little invention. I wish I knew more about that type of stuff. -
Surface Cleaner: Wheels vs. Floater
VanDiesel99 replied to HotShot's question in Residential Pressure Washing
This always confuses people. I am talking about a cross rather than a single bar. Not talking about the amount of nozzles on each bar, that is almost unimportant. If you have two bars running perpindicular to each other(the only company I have seen offering it is Steel Eagle), it would clean almost twice as fast. I had a custom setup built for my Pressure Tek Bad Boy surfacer(which uses a similar aluminum bar as the Big Guy), that is basically a 3/8in cross with a tapped and threaded hole in the top and an adapter(3/8in male to female) to mount to the swivel. I used 3/8 galv piping and 90deg elbows at the end to make my own 4 bar assembly that would fit. The only problem is that the guy who made it thought that a BRASS 3/8in cross would have enough "meat" to adequately thread and connect to the adapter. Problem is, he was wrong and the adapter only takes about three threads and doesn't stay perfectly 90 degrees. This makes the assembly wobble. It works great other than the fact that it is probably going to wear the bearing in the swivel out faster. I am going to have a machinist friend of mine see if you can make something that will work a little better out of stainless. Will let you guys know how it goes. -

Yea I knew about that 4 nozzle two bar setup but how beneficial can that really be? Not nearly as beneficial as 4 bars with nozzles at the extremes. -

What I haven't been able to understand is why those big surfacers don't come with 4bar spinners rather than just a 2bar(or cross versus single bar). Obviously a 4 bar 4 nozzle assembly would clean faster than a two bar(and this would defeat the problem of not being able to spin that one bar fast enough to keep up with zebra striping. Any ideas? -

why does hot water always cause leaks
VanDiesel99 replied to mas3372's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I noticed that too. I wish they wouldn't put those stupid swiveling ends on hoses because they just don't last. When you get the end of the hose repaired, just make sure they put a fixed end on it rather than a swivel. -
A layer of construction adhesive between the guard and the bottom of the shingle does the trick.

Just to let everyone know, exteriormaint's high score at Snake has been pummeled. I will mail $20 to the first SOB who can beat my high score and time. Your going to at least have to use the worm speed setting. Good luck, this offer stands until someone can step up to the Snake challenge. ps: exteriormaint : I'll give you $30 ;)

Sodium hydroxide will burn the hell out of plants(worse than bleach). I see brown sludge coming off of roofs when I use sodium hypochlorite, no different than sodium hydroxide in fact. I am not sure what you guys are talking about? I tried my housewash mix on a roof(1 gal 12.5% sh in 5gallons XJETTED). And it was the same outcome as a sodium hydroxide mixture. -
Anyone seen that new flood Restora product that is used to give siding that sheen again?

Get it from someone else. Envirospec has a bad reputation and I can personally vouch for getting ripped off a couple of times by them.
