  1. Leaking Guns

There are also guns that use a ceramic ball that will not corrode. Or you can buy repair kits for the gun which are high but not $45!
  2. Magnetic Business Cards

I thought a good way to get back in touch will my past customer base would be to send them all a letter with a nice magnetic business card enclosed. What kinda prices have you guys found for these cards? Any good references for companies that do this?
  3. Magnetic Business Cards

$0.15 doesn't seem too bad each. Are they good quality cards? I would like to know the source. Thanks
  4. You guys who do apartments, condos, hotels... how do you address the issue of overspray from housewash solutions containing bleach and other potentially harmful chemicals.(especially when using the xjet) I see that as a big problem if there is a parking area directly in front of a group of buildings that needs to be washed. The mixture is inevitably going to get on cars, and then you are subject to a huge liability.
  5. They both have to be rated for the same PSI right?
  6. Big oops! What should I do?

Don't cut the piece linearly and face nail it, it will look obvious. There is a siding removal tool that will allow you to "pop" the bottom lip of the piece of siding out of the groove of the piece above it. Take the nails out of the piece you are removing and pop it loose from the piece below it. Replace it, nail like Able Hands said, and use the palm of your hand to secure the grooves back together.
  7. Solar battery charger

Thats a nice idea, never have to worry about manually charging it. Where would you put it on your trailer? You have a closed or open setup? Thats a very good idea.
  8. Arcade Snake

I challenge anyone to beat my Snake score! :lgkick:
  9. Hose Handling Safety

I have had swivels break on me(at the end of the hose attached to the ball valve). It was from horizontal stress from pulling the hose. I now combat this by using a short whip hose from my ball valve to the swivel, that way when I tug on the gun it doesn't stress the swivel. I have also had violent reactions when I connected a ball valve and a gun and didn't get them seated properly. Not too dangerous unless your working with hot hot water.
  10. Moron

Big bridges are held up by concrete that stays underwater all the time. Nobody seals that concrete, and it works just fine. Apples and oranges. I want to talk to this guy in person. How can you even compare? That water doesn't freeze thaw on a regular basis. That concrete doesn't have ANY aesthetical value and probably a honey comb finish. I would like to use a zero deg tip 200 deg a inch away from his nipple, teach him to respect the mighty pressure washer! ROAWWWRR!!U@*)$%)!! :taz:
  11. Experts Advise

It seems like if you had a pressure unloader and you reeled the hoses up while the machine was running(which probbably doesn't happen very often) then you shut the machine off, then it seems like the expanded hose would contract from reduced pressure inside the hose causing some reel damage. But thats pure speculation.
  12. Experts Advise

I have a flow unloader and a pressure unloader. I wonder if they are equally as hard on reels? I guess whenever the flow unloader machine is being run wide open its going to be just as damaging to the reel as the pressure unloader machine is all the time. I still pull off just what I need on occasions when I don't need that much. I have cox reels, and I haven't had any problems, yet.
  13. My new rig was not what I ordered !

It seems like espec is legitimate. There image is at least. But all those puppy dog eyes don't do it for me when they are taking advantage of my business.
  14. lances

I don't know if they make one that long. You could always have one made but I don't know how you insulate it.
  15. My new rig was not what I ordered !

Speaking of distributors taking advantage of customers... I got an email from envirospec with a really good price on some telescoping wands. Called to order one before they ran out and found out you had to meet the minimum amount of $100 or something. SO I ordered a little whip hose w/ swivel, a battery box, and a couple of trigger guns. When I receive the merchandise I immediately notice that the battery box is broken in two different places. I blow through guns and find that one has some sort of blockage in it that won't allow hardly any water to pass. So needless to say I am a little mad, so I call espec and tell them the situation. They want me to send back the stuff and pay the shipping cost! They said after the stuff has been inspected then they MIGHT be able to reimburse some of the shipping. What kind of **** is that? SO I send the stuff back, pay the shipping, and write a letter to espec detailing my situation. Still haven't heard back from them. This was about a week and a half ago, yesterday I tried using the linear trigger gun I got with that same order and the brass piece on the inlet side of the gun was cracked and soaked me immediately. SO I guess I will package that up and send it out to. Also, the whip hose leaks where the swivel fitting is crimped to the hose. I don't feel like spending the time to take that apart, I will probably just eat that one and go have it repaired at the hose shop. Moral of the story is: don't buy anything from envirospec because 4 out of 5 things they sent me were broke or defective On the positive side, the telescoping wand lasted all the way through the first job so...
  16. De-Winterize

But it was leaking due to dryout right? You said the machine was left in a heated area all winter? I have had the problem Tony C was referring to. I blew the water out and ran antifreeze through the pump but didn't turn the pump over a couple of times. It stayed out in some extreme conditions, and when I tried to run it again the pump leaked. When I opened the pump it was always a cracked plunger(happened twice). When the plunger cracked, it would let the packing move freely over it. It hard to tell when they are broke by looking at them, its easier when you see a packing thats stuck.
  17. My new rig was not what I ordered !

Take it back, and get a different one from someone else.
  18. For you guys who run high volume machines(8gpm+), do you ever have problems with downstreaming chems? I have a downstreamer that claims 20% draw, which with 8gpm would be 1.6 gals per min(20% of 8) right? I downstreamed for about 5 minutes and still have about a 2 gallons left in a five gallon bucket. Would the hose restriction be causing back pressure on the downstreamer? I know there is more pressure pushing 8 gpm through a 3/8 hose than 5gals. Thanks
  19. Thats a good idea, how do you get the shurflo to prime when its connected to the downstreamer? Just turn it on, then let it run until you run the system with low pressure tip allowing the shurflo to push chems through the downstreamer? I guess the only other option is to use 1/2 id pressure hose on the main line(2 gun system). I couldn't find a price on any 1/2in id hose. My pressure reel is already built for 1/2" connections so I am alright there. I would rather solve the problem without having to buy hose but either way its gonna run about $150 to aid the problem.
  20. I only use 150ft of hose but it is only 3/8in hose. Hey Bob, when you plum that shurflo in did you just turn it on and off when you were downstreaming? The machine would have to have high pressure in the line to keep the shurflo from pumping chems past the ball right? Does the shurflo pull any charge off the battery when the pressure switch kills it? What does the shurflo do to the downstreamer that damages it? Thanks!
  21. But there is a very small oriface in the downstreamer. This is how a ds'r works. If you use a 3-5 gpm injector it is actually undersized for the machine so the machine is straining trying to push water through a hole that isn't big enough. Thats why they make different injectors for different volume machines. What I still haven't figured out is why they even make injectors for 8gpm+ machines if your never gonna get it to draw right because of the backpressure caused by trying to push 8gpm through a 3/8 hose. Maybe I am missing something, do any of the equipment distributers have a answer?
  22. I am trying to streamline my process, but I don't want to have to stop after putting down soap and pull the downstreamer off. That adds time, plus I would have to put a ball valve behind it or shut the machine off everytime. I might as well xjet the concrete chems or get a dedicated pump and a EXTRA tank for chems. Nothing ever works like its advertised huh?
  23. I normally xjet for house washing, but for concrete cleaning its easier for me to just pop in a soap tip and put down the degreaser. So you use a small oriface downstreamer? Do you pull it off when you are not applying soap? It seems like it would restrict overall flow leaving a smaller orifaced downstreamer on all the time.
  24. Flim Flam Retaliation

Whats their angle? I have gotten those stupid emails before but I couldn't figure out the scam.
  25. Anybody know what this is? Found it underneat my belt/pulley system and pump. The white part is a pad of some sort and the red is hard plastic.
