At first I thought it was one of those checkers thats Crackerbarrel leaves in front of their store. I have blown those off the table a couple times. :lgbonk:

Does anyone keep these handy to test their burners? I seem to have bad luck as far as burners go, but I have never really tore into one to do any repairs other than changing the fuel nozzle. Is this a handy item to have? How often do ignitors and transformers go bad?

Thinking about purchasing a stainless steel pumpup 1.5 gal for $70. Its high unless this unit will outlast normal cheap plastic pumpups. I will spraying caustics(sod hydrox) through it but no bleach. Will this be worth the price? I've had problems with the stupid tips on those cheap plastic ones acting up, and I am tired of dealing with mediocre equipment when I am out in the middle of the night trying to get work done. Its always better to buy the best and not delay your work because your trying to used some rigged tools.

I also was looking for a cheaper alternative, so I went with caustid liquid(25%), downstreaming it. It worked decent but needed to be stronger for restaurant grease that I do frequently. I am going to get 50% caustic liquid next time and see how that does. Anybody know of anything that can be added to the mix for increasing its effectiveness? Caustic liquid is very cheap(sodium hydrox) when bought raw.

I've got some downstream questions
VanDiesel99 replied to CCPC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I think that if you did the double Y method than the majority of the water would bypass the injector and go through the other side of the Y. If this happens that second injector would not hardly draw any chems. -
I've got some downstream questions
VanDiesel99 replied to CCPC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Two downstreamers in line won't work because the second one causes back pressure on the first one, keeping it from being able to draw chems. The same reason downstreamers can't be used with the Coress wand. The coress restricts the flow when it sizes down to a 1/4in hose causing back pressure on the injector keeping it from drawing. Thats why I was curious about what guns some of you guys running high volume machines are using. I am going to make sure I have as little restriction in the high pressure side of my system to prevent it from bottlenecking, causing back pressure, and reducing the effectiveness of my downstreamer. -
I've got some downstream questions
VanDiesel99 replied to CCPC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
For the guys who run 8gpm or better: Are you using guns with 13/32" openings or do you know? I was having a little trouble drawing a a good chem rate with my 8gpm machine, then I read on the espec site where a smaller opening in the gun could cause back pressure on the downstream injector causing less chem to be drawn. They have a hydraulic YRL50 Compensating gun that I am going to try out to see if that alleviates the problem. Curious what others think about this. -
I've got some downstream questions

True, but they are expensive aren't they. I know the xjet 3/8 hose barb ball valve is like 8-9 dollars. I have never seen one smaller. -

Why the ball valve? Most downstreamers have an adjustment knob where you can turn the downstreamer off. -
Anybody have any luck finding any fast pour gas cans? The ones that are the tall cylindrical racing type aren't really feasible. What happened to the good old fashioned gas cans with a breather valve? I know if I do find one they won't have it in yellow for diesel like I want either! :lgbonk:

Fast Pour Gas Cans

Air Quality? Interesting... Any online site you buy from or you get local?? I don't know of any racing type stores around here. I know all the outdoor equipment places, farm supply, hardware, walmart, places have the exact same gas can. -
Has anyone pursued college campuses or other state owned institutions for pw work? Thinking about checking into what all insurance, licensing, etc. requirements there are.
-
I go to the University so I think that will help me pursuade them into it. Its much in need of it, just need to beat down the door. I just didn't want to go in and not have all the right licenses and so forth.

What percentages do you guys shoot for when your looking to degrease a dumpster pad or mildly greasy/dirty concrete? I grabbed some 25% caustic soda and used a 20% downstreamer and its not quite as effective as some of the premixed stuff I have used in the past. I am spot shotting the bad spots with higher concentrations. Do you guys get the 50% and dilute it down then downstream or? Kinda curious which degreasers are more popular(pot. hydrox. or sod. hydrox) and how people are applying them(shurflo, downstreamer, xjet, pumpup)
-
What about commercial applications such as dumpster pads with permanent discoloring due to various factors. Is there something that will restore that concrete to a consistent concrete color and be completely permanent. If there is how cost efficient is it? I don't know about staining for high traffic(vehicular) areas.

I am in search of some sort of cap or plug for the two inch tubing I used to make my ladder racks. The one inch I have on my trailer's drop gate has some inserts that keep the water out, but I have yet to find anything for the two inch that I have. Any help would be appreciated.

I started my business soon after I turned 22. Sometimes it is a blessing and sometimes it is a curse. Being younger gives people the wrong impression a lot of times. I constantly study and lurk in every forum possible so that when someone asks one of those oddball questions to see how much I know I can intelligently answer it. My business has done tremendous, mostly in part to my ability to effectively sell myself and my effort to constantly offer reliability and quality work. I try to maintain very visually impressive equipment so that I don't look like I am pressure washing to pay for my college beer money. I am finishing college in the next year(thanks to pressure washing) with a major in Construction Management. I have not decided yet whether I will continue to grow my business or whether I will head in to the Construction industry full time. I do know that it will be a long while before I could build my salary to the amount I am making running my own business. And of course I have always heard if you can work for yourself, DO IT! Fortunately, my family business is commercial construction. I may have a merger in the near future. My goal would be to work for the family business as a project manager(have been superintendent during Summer for past two years) and also managing new pressure washing contracts and bringing in pressure washing techs to continue to run the business I have built. Only time will tell...

Do not buy ANYTHING from them. Even stuff you think cannot be disfunctional in any way. I got some hand dollies from them, and the tires have to be aired up periodically and the paint blistered off immediately. Got some batteries that were junk from the start. Bought a tool kit for someone for Christmas and the handle to the hammer broke first use. Its all junk in one way or the other.

That is a very cheap price on that 8gpm!

That would be extremely handy sometimes. I have the field hose repair kit. But I still like to get my hoses permanently crimped. I have probably spent $100 this year having hoses fitted, plus having to drive down there and wait. I wonder how much one of these would cost and whether or not it would be effective at crimping ferules in high pressure situations. I have had some ferules "pop" off as soon as the pressure hits it because it wasn't crimped right.

Anyone done business here? KIM SUPPLY

Yea, I bought a couple little things from them in the past. No bad comments here. -
Hey Don, Frank Ramsey's(the Celtic) house is totally destroyed. As is a lot of the COuntry Club area. McLeod Ln got hit directly by a tornado. I won't really see it until this weekend. There is going to be a lot of cleanup going on here. I might pull out the ole 65 Case and put out some work.
