  1. I just replaced the thermostat on my unit and need a little help matching the wiring up. I had a offbrand thermostat on it before so I couldn't just match the wiring. The temperature gauge unit has three brass prongs on the back of it, labeled 1 2 and a circle with something in side of it. I have two wires to connect to it. One from the Burner Switch and one runs from elsewhere on the machine. If anyone is familiar with this or has a Hydrotek they could take a look at I would appreciate it. I would call them but its a Holiday and all. Thanks
  2. blown pump

Could also be a cracked ceramic piston. I blew the air out a pump I had and didn't run antifreeze thru it. When it froze it damaged two of my ceramic pistons allowing water to be forced into the oil. Open up the pump and take a look around and see if anything looks abnormal.
  3. Remote Control

Curious what kind of ball valve is going bad in 3 months? I have had my primary ball valve for a year and a half and it works just like it was new. I use a flow actuated unloader.
  4. Issue with pump

I had the same problem, except my pump is ALSO very hard to get to when wanting to drain the pump oil. I ended up rounding the edges of the plug with a pipe wrench trying to get the SOB off. I think I am going to just remove the entire back plate of the pump so that I can get that (*&%# plug out.
  5. So you use that for cleaning grave stones?? Does that work for all types of stone?
  6. Lowering pressure with tip

The difference in pressure sometimes isn't very apparent due to the fact that the same amount of water is coming out. Its easy to think that since your putting out about a 1/3 of the pressure, then the spray will be noticeable "lighter" for lack of a better term. The only noticeable difference I can tell is that the water comes out at a higher velocity and turns to mist more than at a lower psi. Get a pressure gauge and check your PSI with that. The pressure-actuated unloaded only affects that initial burst that comes as soon as you hit the trigger.
  7. Downstreaming- the wave of the future

If you want higher concentration chems, use several downstreamers in line with each other. Each one will add more chems until you have as concentrated as you want. In theory, with enough downstreamers in a row you could have more chemical coming out then water. I am not sure if this would cause excessive back pressure, the equipment guru's will have to chime in here. But I know two downstreamers won't adversely affect your machine.
  8. I believe these polls would be more accurate if the names of the people who voted for each option were listed beside it. I think the PWNA board did that for one of their polls(or maybe it was here). People are more likely to tell the truth when someone can hold them responsible. If you don't want your name on there then don't vote. I am not saying anything that has posted is untrue either. My $.02
  9. Been having a little trouble finding a battery box for a small battery. I tried several lawn mower shops, with no luck. Lowes, walmart... Seems like they would be easier to find. Anybody have a good online source for one? Less than 7x10 inches. Thanks
  10. Is it cool to cool, or should I stay hot?

Are you telling me that an entire coil full of water evaporates on your way home from work? That must be magic. You know when water evaporates it doesn't just disappear, it has to go somewhere. There is only one place for it to go, out the ole out hole. So you must have steam spewing out of your machine all the way home, because water just doesn't evaporate that fast in ANY situation. Especially one where it is almost completely confined.
  11. Is it cool to cool, or should I stay hot?

The article didn't make much sense. It would never be hot and dry. Its either hot and wet or cold and wet. It seems to me that it would be less wear on the equipment to cool the system down. I don't think it will hurt the coil one way or the other, but for the most part anything that gets excessively hot tends to wear out faster.
  12. small size battery box

The size tractor supply had was too big. I couldn't find any on northern tool. Hey Aplus, I noticed a battery box on your sureflo setup. Did you get it locally?
  13. What are you going to do now for chemicals?

I have been very happy with Steve Rowlett's line of chems. Excellent customer service as well.
  14. surface cleaner

Actually there is a quick connect that will stop flow once it is disconnected from its counterpart. I will see if I can remember where I read about that. Anyone else seen these?
  15. extension ladder

I admit, I use the wooden ladder. It was passed down from my grandfather's grandfather. He built it his self by widdling it out of a mighty redwood. When I need to use it I have to rent a crane to help me position it. ;)
  16. When I first started I had a plastic water hose reel and a cox reel mounted to a red wagon. It worked good(and looked neat) until the 1/4in axles bent on the ends. I think the hand wagon A-Plus mentioned would work good if you have the room for it.
  17. The tricky part about that is shutting the water flow off before it overfills. A hudson type float valve won't fit in the top of barrel.
  18. Red Clay on Masonite

Anybody know about chems that are effective in removing red clay stains from painted masonite siding?
  19. New equipment (sort of)

I would say thats a very good deal, especially if you can fix it up yourself(doesn't sound like much fixing up to do).
  20. Reality shows

Mark my words, the Contender is going to make waves. The first episode gave me goosebumps, I am hooked!
  21. Bag Of Money In A Dumpster Area!

    Upgrade my equipment.
  22. Fall protection gear

Hey Don, can you "repel" with that? Or do you set a limit so that if you begin to fall it will stop you at some point?
  23. Wiring problem truck/trailer

When I first wired my lights up, my brakes would pulsate when my left turn signal was on. Talk about a surprise.
  24. I am interested in seeing a picture of how someone has there float valve setup to shutoff at a certain level. I use a hudson float valve, and I plan on increasing the size of my tank. The only problem with that is that I don't always want the entire tank to fill up. I am looking for some way to adjust the depth of the float valve so that the water will only fill up to a certain level before the valve shuts it off. Someone had mentioned fastening the float valve to the end of a pipe, but then how would it be adjusted where it would stay put at a certain depth. Any ideas would be appreciated!
  25. For you guys who use shurflo style sprayers to apply deck stain. What kind of gun/tips are you using to best apply the stain?
