bosully76 replied to Doug Dahlke's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I am more of a novice when doing decks and I do not do many. I have done a few decks this season where I put my chemicals in a 5 gallon bucket and after wetting the deck well I apply the strippers with a green soft bristle truck brush. I find this to be faster then a pump up and more of the stripper and britener hits the wood. All I can say is it works better for me. Good luck. -
Freaked out now!

I understand your worry but it does not appear to me that you are negligent. -
I am in Rockland NY and I do house washes and decks. My price for a deck is usually 2.25 sq ft. Strip, brighten and stain with ready seal.

I am very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello all, My name is Brian O'Sullivan and I have been reading threads all winter long. I started O'Sullivan's Pressure Washing in April and I am working in Rockland County, New York. I do residential pressure washing part time and I am busy. My business would not be where it is now if it was not for this site. Thanks to all for your help. Brian

This was a hard learning experience for me. I got used stackable hose reels mounted to my truck along with plenty of hose to go along with it and a used dual wand for $500.00. I felt that was a good deal. As far as pressure washing I am going to hire one of my buddies to help me. Each day I gain more mobility in my arms and I hope to be back in 2 weeks. Brian

Hi Kevin, i was actually cleaning a house for a guy who lives a block away from me. During the estimate the guy did not want to pay extra for the gutters to be cleaned. He wanted only the siding to be washed. I explained to him that the gutters would be more but he would not go for it. In the proposal I stated I would only do the siding. He is the third house on this block I cleaned and when it was time to pay he had a hissy fit when I did not clean the gutters. I knew right away he was screwing with me but I am concerned about my reputation. To shut him up I decided to clean the gutters free of charge. At the end of the job I was on his second floor deck cleaning the gutters (still fuming) and I did not see the staircase. I fell head first 6' and landed on concrete I suffered a concussion and a fracture on both my elbows. At the end of the day I feel lucky. I felt like I fell 3 stories. So for the next 2 months my arms will be very weak. I found AAA Hydro Cleaning in New Rochelle, NY and they said they can mount two hose reels and my pressure washer to my truck. I was looking to get this done asap so I could get back to work. Brian

Hi all, I am a newbie just north of NYC and I am looking to mount my "blackknight" 13HP cold water general pump pressure to my Ford Ranger truck which has a 6' bed. I was planning to mount 2 hose reels as well. Does anyone know who could do this kind of set up. Prior to yesterday I was lugging the PW in and out of my truck. However yesterday I took a spill and fractured both my elbows. its not too bad and I plan on working soon but my arms are going to be to weak to pick up the PW. Any advice would be appreciated. Newbie advice on deck
bosully76 replied to bosully76's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
After doing a search I am pretty sure that this was a behr silicone sealer which I understand can be a tough strip. This is a big deck. Does this behr usually take multiple strips? Again sorry for no pictures. Brian -
Newbie advice on deck

Thanks Beth, When wet it looks dirty. I must not have got all the prior sealer off. I will re-strip, clean and neutralize tomorrow. Brian -
Newbie advice on deck
bosully76 posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hi folks, -The other day I stripped, cleaned and brightened a 600' sf. deck. The deck was dirty and the customer said that she had last sealed the wood with Thompsons. At this time I don't believe it was Thompsons, I would say it was possibly behr. -I used "Rip It" from sunbrite to strip the deck and it appeared to work well. After cleaning the wood I applied the brightener that is used with 'Rip It''. The wood was dark in some parts and I was not completely sattisfied with the deck. It was getting late so I had to leave it the way it was. -The next day I went to the house when it was dry and it looked good. The deck appeared to be clean and it was lightened from the britener. -Today it was raining and the customer came home from vacation and called me saying that the wood did not look good. I looked again while the deck was wet and the wood was very dark and I did not think it looked good. I told the customer I would like to see it dry. -I just looked at the deck again when it dried and it looks clean and bright. I plan on sealing the deck with Ready Seal. However, I am very uncomfortable with the looks of the deck when wet. -I am sorry I have no pictures but any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Brian O'Sullivan -
truck ramp
bosully76 replied to bosully76's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate all of your advice. Brian -
Hi everyone, I am new to the business as of last week. I plan on doing deck restoration and low pressure house washing. For most of the winter I have been reading a lot of the info on this site and I have learned a lot. I ordered a 13hp 4GPM 4000psi pressure washer and I should receive it next week. I am looking for advice on some methods to get it in and out of my pickup truck. I plan on getting some kind of ramp but I would appreciate some input. Thanks, Brian O'Sullivan O'Sullivan Pressure Washing Pearl River, New York 845-735-2086
