Who's getting slammed
ThePressureWashingGuy.com replied to James's question in Residential Pressure Washing
...But now, here in July, where have the freakin' customers gone? Been actively marketing - more, in fact. Vacation on the brain? Hope it comes back. Thankfully, the year has been strong thus far. Need it to continue. All the best to you. -
What Are Your Percentages?
ThePressureWashingGuy.com replied to ThePressureWashingGuy.com's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Brian, Thanks for your post. Looks like you run a great little company. All the best for 2010. Scott -
Greetings fellow power washing industry professionals. Scott McLeod, owner of The Pressure Washing Guy here in Central PA. Entering my sixth season. Very optimistic that our future will be bright as long as we continue to learn and grow and treat customers well. Here is one thing I'd like to learn more about: how my major recurring expense categories compare to those of my industry counterparts (as a percentage of gross revenue). Certainly, size of company will impact how these percentages work in each company. My company consists of two full-timers and two part-timers. Thanks in advance for any input! For those willing to share, what is the approximate percentage of your gross annual revenue, that you spend annually for: Advertising = ? Auto/Fuel = ? Supplies = ? Wages/Labor (not including myself) = ? Lastly, what percentage of annual gross revenue do you expect to keep for yourself = (pre-tax)? My numbers for 2010: Advertising ~ 10% Auto/Fuel ~ 5% Supplies/Chems ~ 17.5% Wages/Labor (not including myself) ~ 13% My take as a percentage of gross revenue ~ 40% (pre-tax)

Hey Grime Scene, Scott McLeod founder of The Pressure Washing Guy here. Actually started in Jan 05. Early on, I was fortunate to meet some GOOD people here on the Grime Scene - they helped me get started (OTJ training, suppliers, pwna conventions, wood cert, etc). The rest I've had to learn on my own. Planning, Hard Work and Perseverence. My little business continues to grow each year! Launched MCLEOD Industrial Cleaning in Sept 07 providing commercial cleaning services. Central Pennsylvania - I got you covered. Best of luck to each of you in 2008. -
Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?
ThePressureWashingGuy.com replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Considered open rigs, but once I thought it all through, for me, the choice to go with Enclosed Trailers was clear. What I use: 5' X 10' Enclosed w/Two 13hp 4gpm "Big Box" Cold Water Machines 7' X 14' Enclosed w/One 27hp 8gpm Hot and Mighty Hot Water Machine Having good reels and reel placement is crucial for saving time. Also, use your rig for a season. Then, if you have extra space above your machines, get some lumber and custom-build some basic interior framing / shelving to hold wands, cleaner, tool box, nozzle kit, etc. Get it off the wet floor! To that point, to save your floor, add some rubber matting. The four reasons I prefer Enclosed Trailers: -Protects equipment from elements (still gotta winterize though) -Protects equipment from theft (get a good lock) -When it gets messy inside, rig still looks professional on the outside -Provides four-sided billboard for advertising Best wishes to all you guys and gals out there cleaning up this world.
