  1. Virtual Election '08

She should be offended. If anyone was known to be an associate of a terrorist, they should be offended. There's no question that Bill Ayers is an assoicate of Obama. It's worse knowing that Obama was 8 when Ayers commited those acts of violence, because he still knowingly associated with Ayers.
  2. Hello all, I've had my trailer mounted pressure washer for approx. 4 years. I'm a part timer and a couple of weeks ago while working a job, approx 1.5 hours into the job I lost 90% of my pressure. I was x-jetting and doing a residential. I shut everything down for approx. 10 minutes and brought it all back up and began washing again, worked fine for approx. 20 minutes and then I lost all pressure again. Two weeks later I had my pressure washing rig out in the driveway and was doing some xjetting, to assist a fellow pressure washer and it was fine for the 30 minutes I had it going. The engine seems to run fine, but I was curious if someone could point me in a direction of things to check. I have no problem bringing it to the local pw shop to have it looked at, but I'd like to know that I checked out everything I could before I do that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Being a computer tech, I'm not as mechanically inclined as I'd like to be. Thank you,
  3. That pic was taken after about 6 months of owning the equipment, it was the quickest one I could pull up at the time lol. It's still in pretty good condition though, I take good care of my stuff. I keep it garaged kept and I'm also a part timer. I'm sure if I was full time it wouldn't look near that nice.
  4. Russ, Thank you for taking the time to write all of that. I will look at re-arranging and replacing that per your suggestion. I need to do some updating to the trailer. For some reason, when I want to dump water, I'm restricted by such a small outlet coming from the tank, so I hope to enlarge the pipe leading out of the tank so that I can dump water much faster. As for the problem, I figured out it was the unloader, thanks guys and gals for all of the suggestions. A tap on the unloader causes it to go back and function properly. I will be replacing it soon though.
  5. Am I too high on residential

RChris57, I agree with Doug, I'm near you as well, don't drop your prices. This area can handle the prices that you are charging, people are cheap sometimes. Those aren't the customers you want anyways. If you drop your prices, you may think it's a one time thing, but what happens when the neighbor(s) wants a quote? Now you have to go and give the same cheap price you just gave to the original home. Go and read some of Ken's backposts on how to sell on quality and not price, he's got some really good articles. Also, Chris is right, not everyone is looking for the cheapest deal, although it sometimes feels like it. Stand firm on your pricing.
  6. PT State Down?

Same here, been trying for the past week and only once was I able to get on, out of like 20 tries over 5 days.
  7. For all you Bush haters

I believe Mike hit this one dead on. If someone is at the bottom, it's up to that individual to get motivated enough to move up. We live in a country full of opportunities. It's up to one's self to take advantage of them or just be like the others, and sit back and watch. No one said it was going to be easy.
  8. For all you Bush haters

Socialized Medicine may not be the perfect world you think it is. I think you should do some research on this subject specifically. I'm sure to most potential voters it sounds like the answer to a problem, but I don't think we should be so quick to jump on it. Socialized Medicine isn't free, nothing is. We will be taxed for this service. As an individual, I haven't seen any government supplied service that just runs great. Here's an article I pulled up from a google search on 'Socialized Medicine'. A Hard Lesson About Socialized Medicine (The Cato Institute) What I believe is, it comes down to the individual. Each one of us should take responsibility for our own actions. We shouldn't have to rely on the government to run our lives for us.
  9. New Brick wash.

Dane, I've only had 1 new construction job, although it was a rather large office. I would ask the builder what he recommends you use, make him do the research if he's got a better idea. Water isn't going to take off mortar tags. I don't see the big deal with schools and using an acid cleaner.
  10. Prattville Alabama storm damage video

Wow Russ, that's some really bad damage. Is that your neighborhood? I hope all is ok with you and your family, please let us know.
  11. skid unit burner

Charlie, I have a skid unit burner and have never had a problem with water down in the burner and the exhaust is on the top. I rarely get caught out in the rain and the trailer stays in the garage when it's parked.
  12. Thank you all for the recommendations, I'll be looking to get something else to replace it soon. David - That picture was taken a couple of weeks after I purchased the equipment, however, I keep it in the garage and out of the weather, so it doesn't look too bad even 4 years later. Thanks again all!
  13. I think I figured it out yesterday while working, looks to be an unloader problem. The unloader looks to be getting 'stuck' every now and then. I'll probably buy a new one and install it, any ideas on a which to buy? I've always read that people prefer the K7's. Thanks again all,
  14. Thanks for all the replies guys. Yes I'm a pc/laptop guy and yes I know I didn't provide tons of info. to go on, I was in a hurry when I posted, my apologies. I'm including a pic or 2 so you can see my setup. I'm a visual person and maybe it will help you to see what my setup looks like. I do tank feed, I usually buffer about 80 gallons, since I'm pushing 5.5 gpm. I'll try your suggestion this weekend Ron. Thank you again,
  15. JL New website

Hi Jeff, GREAT looking website, clean and precise. I think the colors are nice and subtle, don't want anything to bright or flashy on a website. The pictures are also very nice. I agree with Beth, either do a complete mouseover on all pics or don't do it, just for consistency. Other than that, I think that website will win you even more work. Good Job!
  16. Hillary for Pres?

I'm really confused, Jeff are you being sarcastic or have you switched over to the good guys?
  17. Hillary for Pres?

Not unless you convert to Islam. :dunno:
  18. A note on Customer Service

I read as much as I can. I really like your posts Ken, I just don't often reply much, but I think you have great content in all your posts. There may be others like myself that do a lot of reading, that just don't hit the reply button all that often. Thank you for all the good information!
  19. Need Help!

I agree with Kevin on this. We had a commercial job about 6 months ago, one of my regular yearly accounts. They threw in about 2 stories of windows at the last minute on us. Usually I would call someone in that specializes in windows, but for about $50 we were able to buy the pole, squegee, and cleaner. We tacked on the extra money and it was rather easy. I know all windows aren't easy, but you can do this. Besides once you buy the equipment, you never know when it will come in handy in the future. Good luck.
  20. Pricing for wax add on

Actually Barry, he does have it on his site, although it's under 'car washing' instead of housewashing. Here's the link: RPC 821 . It looks like he sells it in 1 gallon and 5 gallon increments. Hope that helps.
  21. Pricing for wax add on

Mas, I use a housewash that includes a rinsing agent to avoid spotting the windows and a waxing agent that creates a nice shine. We do not charge extra for this, it's already included in all of our house washes. Hope that helps answer your question.
  22. Ok, hopefully I won't be the longest reply on this thread! Here goes: Prior to being eligible to work for a living, I started messing around with computers at age 12. At 16, my first job was with Waffle House, cleaning dishes, working with a best friend. In a short time I moved up to backup cook and then eventually working at another Waffle House as a weekend 2nd shift full cook. Did that for about a year and a half. During High School, I also worked at McDonalds (4 months), Mrs. Winners (2 months). When I graduated High School in 1991, my dad offered to put me thru 4 years of college and I said 'no thanks, i've had enough of school'. I took a job with Chick Fil A Dwarf House that was brand new where I live. I worked there for 2 years then left it to do Pest Control for a good friend of mine that owned the business. I worked in Pest Control for about a year. I left Pest Control for a job in a warehouse, worked that for a year (boring). I left warehouse work to go work for the State of Georgia as an accounting Temp, since a good friend got me the job.I worked for the temp job for 3 months. At the end of the 3 months, the job was up and I got a job at a property in downtown Atlanta as a security officer. They told me I was the wrong color and I wouldn't last a month. I stayed in the job for 2.5 years and became a supervisor while employed there. I eventually left the job to work at a grocery store because of conflicts with my manager in security. I worked the grocery store for a couple months and left it to go into construction as a laborer/helper. I worked harder than ever before and was promised a raise after a month. After 3 months and no raise I left to go to a job in pools. Worked as a helper to the main pool tech. It was a part time job but I turned it into a full time position by doing extra work here and there (fun job). I enjoyed pools, most of all I enjoyed patching the bottom of pool, fun to swim in the summertime! After working pools for a year I left to go to the Water Dept. as a meter/reader. I worked again with my best friend in this job, and although it's not a very fun job to do in the rain or the heat, we made it fun. While Working with the meters I read an ad for computer tech school and my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) suggested I take the course. Since Chick Fil A gives a $2000 scholarship if you work(ed) there for at least 2 years, I took them up on it and used the money to go to A+ Computer Tech School. I worked full time and went to the school on weekends. Once I completed the school in 1998, I went to work for a well known Accounting Software Company in north Atlanta. I worked there for 2.5 years in telephone support. This was one of the most stressful jobs I've ever had. I left the software job in 2001 and came to work for my current employer in a Helpdesk position. 2.5 years ago, I was promoted to PC/Laptop Tech and that's where I'm currently at. I started the pressure washing business in Sept. 2003 as a means to get out of the helpdesk job. Since I was promoted to PC/Laptop Tech, I decided to stick with the full time job and keep pressure washing on the side. Also, I volunteered with the local fire department from 1991 to 2002. I gained the position of Sergeant over Truck Company in Nov. 1997. I also served as a driver for all aparatus. I hope in the next year or two to either work full time for the fire department and do pressure washing on the side, or perhaps work full time with the pressure washing business. Even though I've worked a ton of jobs, I feel like I've learned a lot of great things from a lot of great and interesting people as well as learned a lot about different trades. I think my dream job would be to open up a coffee/pastry/wifi cafe and run it with my wife.
  23. music downloads

I'll chime in - 1.) Limewire - P2P/Filesharing App minus the spyware - get it at www.limewire.com. I would steer clear of kazaa and bearshare, just my opinion. http://www.limewire.com 2.) Bit Torrent - http://www.bittorrent.com/ There are over a couple of hundred Bit Torrent Clients out there. Each does it's own unique thing. Bit Torrent works a little different than your average P2P Filesharing app. Too long to explain it here. 3.) There's also the Apple ITunes Store where you can buy songs for 99 cents a song. I don't use this , but I thought it was worth a mention since the songs are a sure fire way of getting a complete song w/o the hassle of wondering. http://www.apple.com/itunes/ Also for those of you using P2P Filesharing, might I suggest using PeerGuardian as an addon - Go read about it here: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
  24. TGS worth $$$

I have a personal domain that I've had since 2001. It shows me this: Combined Domain Name Appraisal Value Score: 165 Top Level Domain Name Score: 10 Unwanted Characters Score: 10 Length Score: 5 Archive.org Score: 20 Google Search Results: 19 Yahoo Search Results: 0 MSN Search Results: 1 Search Engine Score: 1 Estimated Domain Name Value: $3,465.00 If that's the case, I'd sell it tomorrow for that amount! I doubt it's truly worth that though, although it's a 7 letter .com so maybe there will be some value some day, but I doubt that much right now. Interesting site, thanks for posting it.
