  1. I wasn't talking about "internal Org disagreements".....but I don't want to hijack the thread so I'll leave it at that.
  2. I can certainly understand why vendors want peace.....It would be nice (and probably more effective) if they voiced their disgust at both sides (sites) of the mud slinging. Otherwise, it seems a bit disingenuous.
  3. It works fine for a few sec's....blower turns, diesel fires. I've checked fuel flow, nozzles, ran new fuel from a jug, changed thermostat, changed pressure sensor.....this one has me baffled.
  4. I have a old skid that's given me fits. The burner comes on and after a few sec's it shuts off (trips the reset button) and I have to wait a few minutes before It will allow a reset.....it does it again. It started doing periodically and the reset lasted longer but got steadily worse to the point it's unusable.
  5. Truck was frozen shut yesterday...had to chip my way to the door handle. Last year, I cleaned my first roof in Feb and was slammed dunked by late March. Toss some more plastic on the bonfire....I need some global warming.
  6. Powerwashing with snow on the ground

This is why I just prefer to wait...I'm sure I'll lose a few that called early but I'm not garage stored and I'm not going to freeze up my equipment for a few early birds.
  7. I've all but stopped doing decks but when I was doing them, I looked at the cash turnover between buying it and getting paid as well as the markup and I stopped providing it altogether. The rates I was getting for AC from the stain shop versus what the homeowner could get it for was so close it wasn't worth my time. If I needed 6 gallons I'd have them get 2 pails and offer to buy any unused. I'd also suggest they keep the extra for a recoat of the horizontals. Sometimes I might have 1-4 gallons myself and I'd have them just buy 1 pail. I'd have them order it and stick it under the deck for me. I know this might sound cheap but I didn't have to sit on thousands of dollars in stain waiting for the rain to allow me to get my cash flow back.
  8. Push Politics aside-- NJ Roundtable coming up.

The whole event was birthed from an intent to hurt two other events......why support something like that?
  9. Ft Hood was the dream assignment (for young guys).....all those nurses! I got out as a CW2 and volunteered for desert shield/storm and did another year. They offered me a 4 year but I declined. My last two years I had transitioned from the UH1 to the Blackhawk. It's a hell of an aircraft but the technology dumbed down the pilots IMHO. Most of the Blackhawk only guys I met after transitioning couldn't hover a helicopter without the SAS FPS and Boost, let alone land a Huey with no engine and no hydraulics....we did them all the time back when I was in. I heard they stopped doing full power off landings at ********** all together... I still stay in touch with some of my friends.... BTW, I was Navy Blue class 83/7, your dad probably started after me....Do you remember what class he was in?
  10. I can see how this benefits the Org's or the people that do the cleaning....and why John (PWNA) and Ron (*****) would support things like this.
  11. I don't think its the industry that's looking for recognition.
  12. I've been out of the USA. Other bad governments isn't a reason to accept bad government "lite". I'm not unpatriotic either, I was about as gung ho as they come (former US Army Helicopter Pilot) I'm not opposed to doing charity work...there are lots of other organizations to do volunteer work for besides a group of people that tax and regulate us to death.
  13. I love my country but not the government.....they can clean there own buildings.
  14. Art project for newbies...

The Crystalline Entity life form from Star Trek The Next Generation Episode 114...........or Poly tank drill shavings in a inline water filter.
  15. Using Photos for Marketing Campaigns

There is a guy in NJ that stole almost all my content. Even clipped my name off the images. Godaddy was supposed to warn him to remove my content and after a week of excuses and smart mouthed support people.....I moved everything I owned from godaddy. They lost a reseller and host and a customer with over 100 domains over some jackwagon with 1 website. It's still up.... Edit...I see that's he wasn't happy stealing images from one of my sites, he's grabbed one from a second. Perhaps this was the internet equivalent of flipping me off for asking him to remove my images.
  16. Why clients need to tell the truth

There was the problem IMHO.....using the word "removed". Under promise....over deliver. I never say "remove" on oil or grease. I tell them that how well it will look depends on how deep the oil has wicked into the concrete. I tell them there may always be a shadow. I show them before and after pics (used to carry a giant binder of images till it got wet). I don't want every job.....Sometimes I get a sense that a person is going to be problematic. I follow the 80-20 rule for those types (Pareto principle - 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes). You want your competitors to waste time on the difficult 20% while you work for the easy 80%.
  17. The truth is in your comment.... When you have to walk on eggshells to make a comment about an Org in our industry, on an industry forum that has a board for that.....something is wrong. I'm not going to comment further since Beth has laid down the law.... I will say this, it was best for all to be able to discuss these things and when the primary places shut down one side simply because "they" don't or control own a forum, then it's a breach of the spirit of freedom of speech....even though we have no rights on a private forum. Why have a board for everything if everything can't be discussed.
  18. no.....no different then trashing a comment on wordpress You own the software and domain.....not public property.
  19. Censorship & Banning...............

Here's an example.... This followed a phone conversation where RM told me "nobody searches for roof cleaners" where I replied "how would you know, you aren't even a roof cleaner". Note the rapid succession of bumped threads (7 in 8 minutes) and the original posting dates (2006! LOL). It's called "grave digging" in the forum world. Very active forums discourage mass grave digging like this. Happens a lot on ***.... Puppeteer....is a person who manipulates an inanimate object, such as a puppet, in real time to create the illusion of life.
  20. Censorship & Banning...............

An example of this is the thread Ron ********** started on *** last Sept where he warned people about forums that "ban" people and hurt their SEO (LOL!) and then proceeded to remove my post in the thread that totally disproved his point. Convincing everyone that they need a forum....that it affects peoples income, is the foundation of a lot of the problems in this industry. It's from that foundation that people are brainwashed into believing that some abstract thing like "the industry" put food on their table and that they owe "the industry" their success, souls, dues and free help.
  21. Censorship & Banning...............

I agree but I also respect the right of the owner of a forum to do with it as he or she pleases.....as long as it is consistent. The free market and free internet will eventually resolve the problem.....separate the wheat from the chaff. A forum staff that censor's disagreement turns the forum into an echo chamber of parrots. The best discussion moves to the open forums. The owner and staff usually resort to bumping old threads every day as a last resort....in order to spur activity.....a sign of a dying forum.
  22. Turns out I was wrong.....I dug back through the old email and found it. It was about 2 weeks after Ron started his "lets talk certs" thread. Here is the email headers of what Dave forwarded me....he got it on the 24th of Sept.....sent it to me on the 25th. I suppose John could be right.... From: Dave [mailto:dave@roofrefresh.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2012 9:14 AM To: admin@roofcleaningcontractors.com Subject: Fwd: Certified Roof Cleaner Begin forwarded message: From: Einstein.albert@scientist.com Date: September 24, 2012 7:36:49 PM EDT To: dave@roofrefresh.com Subject: Certified Roof Cleaner
  23. Thanks for sending me the link John...I totally missed this thread. I follow threads in tabs rather than using the board like it should be. Old habit from sport's forums that got 5+ threads a minute during a game....impossible to keep track. I seen that same email last year....before the ***** launched their cert thread. Einstein didn't directly email me, I guess I'm not worthy. Dave at Roof Refresh forwarded it to me. I think he was emailed directly. Dave is a Mod at Don's board.....are only Mod's getting emails from Einstein? Perhaps a clue?
  24. Is anyone on the ***** board going to take a stab at these?
  25. It's pretty simple really. In fact, I asked my 8 year old son three questions this evening and he got it. What do brick Layers do?....They lay bricks. What do pressure washers do?....They pressure wash. What do regulators do?....They regulate. You'd think the ***** learned their lesson on this with the "Shopping BMP's" thing. You don't bother these people. You stay off there radar. You work hard, make a living, follow the existing rules and hope some government A-hole doesn't come up with a new requirement that drives you out of business.
