  1. Thanks, I second the U-PAY name.
  2. We have a few more u-pay wood jobs coming up, going to try AC Cedar Semi tried a sample on both ipe and pt liked how it applied, dried and the finish. These photos are a fir deck we did; we used floor sanders to remove finish was quite a job.
  3. What is LCS if ya don't mind me asking. Nice work!
  4. Thanks for your words of wisdom on U-PAY, 99% of all our u-pay wood deck customers want there deck sealed so we give the customer what they want or try to. I could not agree with you more about about U-PAY wood. Going to try AC on my next one, have not tried Ready Seal yet maybe next time.
  5. We used WT yesterday, and next we will be using Ben Moore Semi Solid . We are not thrilled with any sealer on ipe , only ones we have not tried on ipe are Ready Seal or AC. This deck had cedar rails and ipe decking , painted trim. We used WT but not thrilled...
  6. I have a huge ipe deck to clean with a huge swimming pool built in, HO is concerened about run off from deck cleaner going into pool. We did one a couple years ago and had no issues as HO ran pool filter when we were done....
  7. ipe deck, pool

The HO could not afford to clean the deck, the only jobs going green in my area our customers trying to give less green to the contractor. It costs over $500 bucks to bring a pickup truck load to our landfill, hell we pay $5.00 bucks for a trash bag. I think your system is great but not feasible for us just to wash a deck.
  8. ipe deck, pool

The HO is worried about soap going into pool and getting in the pool is not an option. I told her we would use pool bleach and water no soap, ipe has not had a sealer in a few years so should be no problem. Thanks for replies, Rick your never to old.......lol
  9. shurflo pumps

Have not used a shurflo came across this deal? Back Pack Sprayers Shurflo SRS-600
  10. shurflo pumps

Thanks, I will make sure its one of my sons wearing it.........just kidding.
  11. If your looking for a newbie to pick on, Im not your guy. I've been in business since the late 70's so kind have a handle on what prep work is. In my post I stated the customer wanted things done her way with her tool selection and specs and she paid well. The only reason I posted is we use the A/C on this deck every other year as that is her favorite product and the question was about maintaince I belive so I was just giving my 2 cts. I mean no disrespect but I can see this forum is not for me, I like Ken from PP and that is how I got here but I will bow out. If you look at our gallery of decks on my website you can see we know what prep is. If your ever down Ma or RI way please feel free to look me up my contact info is on my website and my phone number.
  12. We washed the deck, color was like a tudor brown and we used A/C............
  13. This is a deck we do every year on the ocean (bay) close to a coal fired power plant as well. The HO wants it done by by brush and roll her way or the hwy...... she stays right there while we do the job and supplies all material and tools-- absolutely no spraying in this area ( she pays very well) All she has used is A/C and it does hold up well but she recently added on alot of new deck boards and fencing and although the stain took well it faded very very quick....We also do a small log cabin for her as well, close to the ocean a with A/C our thoughts on the product eh....... We have to get the ladders up before high tide , she does not like us leaning over the rails......saftey issue......lol..
  14. What is on the shakes now? We do quite a few of those, most times if finish on shakes is old will come right off with pwashing..... Start at bottom and work up, we never had a problem with windows leaking ...
  15. Hello , great board ya got here............ Ran across this cedar deck that a supposed experinced tradesman finished last year with Cabot's solid stain............what a mess..... You dont see many cedar decks in my neck of the woods, she wants it stripped and sealed........... nick_nite House Painters | Think Painting - Plymouth County Painters - Rhode Island Painting Contractors [/img] http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m227/fxwg_03/Picture039.jpg

Got a shot of 3 coats of acrylic melting? with HD-80.
  17. done in a day

You washed and sealed that fence the same day in 9 hrs?
  18. I ordered some HD-80 and we tried it out today on a solid stain, acrylic didnot even dent it..............We have used f-18 in the past as well with no effect either but worked better than hd-80. I did boost the hd-80 and still did not dent the stain. In my painting business we have stripped all different types of paint and stain the last good stripper we used was Back To Nature(industrial) but thats $75.00 a gallon. I have 3 good sized stripp jobs lined up but ready to tell HO to replace deck boards...... nick---www.paintingexperts.com
  19. hd-80

Thats all I see latley is solids............I will have to remember next time to cross my fingers...lol
  20. hd-80

The deck is 5 yrs old, first finish was a Ben Moore oil cedar toner, the next was a oil solid stain , the next was an acrylic, then another one. This info according to homeowner...... I ve stripped all types of paints over the years, my comment was about the HD-80 and F-18.and being cost wise. My quote for the deck was fine there is plenty of room for the strip just dont htink its worth the effort. You are right I do appreciate the advice from the forum members, thanks again. nick House Painters | Think Painting - Plymouth County Painters - Rhode Island Painting Contractors
  21. Lambswool pad works well for us.............Wooster makes a good one.
  22. hd-80

My point was after adding the labor and material for the strip job would be cheaper to build a new deck........ The spread rate for the $75.00 stripper is 50 sq ft a gallon. Thanks anyway, I will know better next time to ask such a stupid question thats pretty straightforward.
  23. hd-80

Thanks for the feedback..........I recived another lead this evening for stripping some more acrylic on a fir deck..........freaking shame to put on a any deck.......
