Interesting Question
Austin Under Pressure replied to Austin Under Pressure's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Alan, I just want to thank you for responding to my posts and providing me with some insight you have been very helpful in clearing out some gray areas in my mind! -
Hi Again, I spoke with a vendor today and they told me something that was very interesting. I was wanting to know more about this. He said the I can clean with just hot water and pressure with no additional chemicals / degreasers needed. He mentioned that just the hot water and the pressure will be able to clean just about any concrete / asphalt surface. Is this true? Can any of your provide me with some advice. Here is the issue I am facing. In order to dispose of the recycled wash water I need to either not use soap and dispose in a sanitary sewer or use soap and evaporate the leftover water. ( City Reqs ) The more I see the city politics, the further away I am from getting started. They are truly making some ridiculous suggestions. Problem I am facing is that when I recover the water I can filter out everything but the soap/detergent/chemical and solvent. This is the part they are concerned about dumping in the sanitary sewer. I have found an evaporator unit but its big dollars in addition to what I already have to purchase. I can really use some solid advice. All the cities around here advised against dumping at a local coin-op as they would fine me for it. Is not using degreaser a realistic option to clean flatwork surfaces? I am pretty sure I will need it for buildings without a question. Additionally the comment was made that hot water and pressure will kill mold spores and remove mold at 180 degrees. Any validity to this as well?

Water Reclaim and Disposal
Austin Under Pressure replied to Austin Under Pressure's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Ok, with what you said stated, the critical part is the ability to dispose of the water in a sanitary sewer. I am having issues with the cities I am planning to support and their rules. Apparantly they are weary of me disposing of the water in a sanitary sewer and are wanting some periodic water tests. I am looking at a filtration system which sounds similar to what you have on board. I do not see an issue using that, I just need to prove to the state and the cities that it does what it says. Are you ever asked to have your water tested? Does the city require you to carry a permit? -
I have been doing some research into the proper environmental methods to reclaim and discard water. How are you folks doing it currently. There are 4 cities that I will potentially be serving. All four have different rules. Looks like I will have to put together some more paperwork for each of them. What do you currently do? Any Filtration Systems on Board? Dam to Sanitary Sewer? Do any of you that reclaim carry permits to transport and dispose non-hazardous waste? Many questions..... !

A few Questions - Power Wash Equipment
Austin Under Pressure replied to Austin Under Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Great Advice everyone. The service issue is key. While I am able to do regular maintenance any rebuilding of components will take some time. This is something I will definetly take into consideration. I was planning on all the extras you mentioned Ron. And then some! Thanks, -
A few Questions - Power Wash Equipment

Gentlemen, Both very good points to consider. I am able to buy both somewhat locally. I have been putting a lot of concentration in purchasing the best unit money can buy. The service aspect is a great point and something that I need to consider quite heavily. Is there much difference between the pumps? Cat vs Landa? The Landa dealer is local here in Austin. Delco is about 3 hrs away in Ft Worth. Both have a lot to offer and are offering warranty on all items sold. Pardon my ignorance. " Flow Type Unloader " Can you explain what this is for me? -
A few Questions - Power Wash Equipment
Austin Under Pressure posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hello, I am new to this community as well as to the Mobile Power Wash Industry. I have recently got all my paperwork in order and am looking forward to ordering some equipment here in the next month or so. Here is my questions. I am debating between two brand currently. First is Landa equipment. It appears to be excellent. I have the salesman currently looking into additional pump options for me. I am wanting a pump that will put out 5+ gpm and capable of at least 3000 psi. I am also looking at a washer offered by Delco Systems of Ft Worth. Sort of a build your own unit. I have been told by many folks locally that installing a CAT pump is the best move I can make. The same folks also had fantastic comments about Landa equipment. My question to the experts: " Am I better off with a pressure washer utilizing a Landa pump and Safety Features or One from Delco Systems with the CAT Pump." For all intensive purposes lets assume the prices are the same as they are within about 500.00 of each other. I am planning for most of my work to be on homes, decks and flatwork. I want something capable of picking up oil soaked in to concrete from say an Oil Change Shop. I am told the more GPM the better. I understand that detergents will be needed as well and GPM and hot water alone will not get the job done! I may have been bland in my description and I will expand as necessary. Any advice or information that any of you can offer would be very greatly appreciated. One last question. I am looking for funding options for my company to get rolling. Have any of you had any experience while starting up? Anyone recommend a leasing company that will lease to a start-up or something in business less than 2 years? I am currently looking into Small Business Loans and Leasing Companies. Thanks in advance for all of your assistance! -
