If I were going to do that many monuments, I would look into a portable shurflo or delavan rig or the Deckster. That is a lot of pumping for all those monuments. You can rig up the sprayer to a hand cart and spray right out of the 5 gallon pail. You could even have an extra hand cart with 5 gallon pails of water if you wanted to rinse with the same equipment instead of using your pressure washer and risk dragging the hose around with all those flowers and monuments. I was thinking the same thing a while back but I was afraid of burning the grass with the chems. I would think that low pressure with a housewash might do the trick just let it dwell long enough. Anybody else doing this?

Sealed Drive from the UK
Christopher replied to Roger Oakley's question in Residential Pressure Washing
That Yorkstone came out real nice. I bet you could make a fortune cleaning places that are out of the way, out in the country, etc.... Just need a generator so you are self-sufficient and have a good pump so if there are wells, you can hook up and pull without wearing out their pump. That would be fantastic to clean huge buildings like estates and castles. I can see it now: I can clean everything from the local pub to the biggest castle around, Just Call......... I wonder if people would be willing to pay for these services? -

John, Where do you get ceramic or regular replacement balls and springs? Thanks. -
I have been in a similar situation and when I see someone I know I tell them that if I know you do this place then I will not go and try to get them, BUT.... If they call me then they are calling for a reason and I have no problem with that whatsoever. I found nothing wrong with what you did. You did not make him tell you the price. Maybe he will start doing better quality work or give better service with his other customers.

Making the x-jet easier to use
Christopher replied to Freshlook's question in Residential Pressure Washing
That is really a good idea! Kind of like breathing new life into the X-Jet. I guess if you had 2 of the backpack sprayers, you could always have a helper bring you another while you are working or re-fill the one while you keep working. The bucket and hose is the only thing I do not like about my X-Jet. Again, what a great idea. -

I had a blast and am working on many of the new things I learned from that Roundtable. It would have been nice to get the FREE Drum Kit of Emulsifier Plus (hint hint) but I guess I will have to save all my pennies and hopefully one day have enough money to get to try it out. I heard it is good stuff but I will not know for a while. Oh Well..........Just kidding. It would be cool though. -
I believe you can get them from Paul, espec, and now at the HD. You might think of a big wooden spoon. I found some at the Wal-Mart. They are about 2' long and mix good in the 5 gallon buckets. I do not know if your 65 gallon tank is the lay-down type or barrel type. The squirrel mixer works real good. I have several sizes and like them all.

Cool Feed Scanner for receipts and cards
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I went to Office Depot and Comp USA and they both sell it for $199.00 Everyone I talked to does not know anything about it other than what the box mentions. You have to put the sheet of paper or receipt into the slot and push the button and it grabs it and it comes out the other side. I found their forum on their site and basically it just scans the receipt and puts a spreadsheet up there with the info, amount, tax, and total. I called and talked to a rep and asked about multiple lines on a receipt and he said there was a feature to "split up the receipt" so you can get each line entered separately. I was hoping for more. It does make the scanning faster in my opinion as you can feed the receipts in one by one instead of opening the scanner, arranging them, scanning them, taking them off, putting in more, etc.... I am still thinking about it. They said that the IRS is accepting digitally scanned receipts for records and if there was an audit. I do not like the way that the receipts are fading faster each year both the ink and thermal. To protect ourselves we would probably need to scan them. It would be nice to be able to scan the receipt and the software separate each line item so you can have the totals for each type of item and categorize them automatically. Maybe some day. You do need to look at the scan and make sure it is ok as sometimes if there is a lot of logos or extra graphics on the receipt the ocr might not recognize it. I might still buy it. I am thinking still. -

Ferguson Supply has a good one and it is less than $4.00 each. I keep a few on the truck and trailer in case the helper forgets to put it back at the end of the day and this has happened many times already. -

Thanks for the info Ken, I would be interested in trying out the Housewash mix. PM me your info and what to send and where or do you have paypal? So if I understand correctly, I can shoot my chems and rinse higher without misting than using the X-Jet? I will be able to soap and then just change tips or reduce the pressure on my dual lance to rinse? I will be able to put a Downstream Injector between my pressure washer and the hose reel. Will this Downstream Injector slow down my cleaning when using my surface cleaner? I have a 5.6gpm 3000psi hot water rig. I could probably stop using my flojet to pre-spray my chems (Strong Degreaser) when doing tire stores and just downstream? How long does it usually take to get the soap out of the hose? Sorry for so many questions, I am trying to learn. Thanks again. -

And what about when the homes have walls of algae and mold? I only have 10% here and would that be strong enough downstreamed to take care of the algae and mold? Thanks. -

OK, The more I think about it the more I am confusing myself. General Stainless downstream Injector, Housewash mix (5 gallons) in a bucket, Tips to rinse 0020, tips to spray housewash mix 0025? Regular gun or dual lance to reduce pressure? Please help my brain hurts now. Thanks. -

Christopher replied to Jarrod's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Just to make sure I understand you Ken, do you use a dual lance to reduce pressure so the injector will pull chemicals into the pressure hose? If you reduce pressure to inject won't that reduce the distance you can shoot? OR using the 0020 tip will reduce the pressure so it draws automatically? Do you use a regular gun/lance and just change out the tips for spraying, rinsing? Can we purchase the "Secret Housewash" or is it locked in? Thanks. -
changing out swivel on hose reel that has a spring next to the swivel
Christopher posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hello Everyone, I am posting this in several boards to try to get the answer. I have a couple of hose reels that look identical to the Rapid Reel brand but there is a spring between the swivel and the hose reel. I cannot get my wrench in there to unscrew the swivel. Is there a trick to this or a special tool needed? Thanks for any help. -
I have tried the DR-60 on a few locations and it did NOTHING. I would have liked to get my money back but I got the run-around. After I tried it I re-read the instructions a few times to make sure that I applied it correctly and I did. I guess it will not work here in South Texas.

Ditto to what Kory said about making sure that the Respirator Cartridges say that they are for Chlorine. If they do not that is not helping you and putting your health and life at risk. If they are listed for Chlorine then maybe you are allergic to high amounts of Chlorine. My mom is allergic to Sulfur but I get the stuff on me every day and no big deal. There are alternatives to Chlorine but not as fast. It just depends on what you are doing. Tell us what you use Chlorine for and we can make some recommendations on the alternatives. I know 4 guys now that have permanent lung damage (It was only 3 until August and some people just do not listen to good advice) and have a hard time breathing. They are always wheezing and cannot do anything that is very exerting like sports or anything that makes them breath heavy. You only have one life so take care of it. Help Us Help You.

Who makes the most durable enclosed trailer?
Christopher replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I bought a "WW" back in January this year that was 5 years old and it is real thick steel sides and roof. The Floor is 2"x6" boards. It is heavy and heavy duty. The trailer is a 6'x12' but empty weighs 2500 pounds with a gross capacity with trailer weight of 7000 pounds. The Tires are 15" and are either 8 or 10 ply. I had a tree fall on it 2 months ago and the only damage was on the roof. The sides are so thick it only scratched the paint.
