  1. Equipment for sale

Hello, I looked on Ebay and the Manufacturer's website but there is no mention of the psi and gpm. Please let us know what it is. Thanks.
  2. Portable Light Cart

I had been looking for something like that but not the pull-behind with the built in generator type as I only have one truck right now. Here are some alternatives. http://www.morelectric.com/pul.htm There are other companies out there like Northern tools: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/NTESearch?storeId=6970&N=0&Ntk=All&Ntt=light&Nty=1&D=light&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Dx=mode+matchallpartial and then there are these that are very bright but have magnetic bases that have 100 and 200 pound pull capacities that you could put anywhere that you have metal. These are expensive but look good: http://www.magnalight.com/c-2-1224-volt-spotlights.aspx?OVRAW=halogen%20tripod%20light&OVKEY=halogen%20work%20light&OVMTC=advanced If you find any of these carts that are less expensive please let me know. I do not like the wind blowing the tripods over and busting the lights. I have tried sand bags to hold them down but it becomes a pain when the bags tear or wear out.
  3. got chems now the mix?

First you need to let us know what you are trying to clean so we can help you. Is it a Housewash? Roof Cleaning? Heavy Equipment Cleaning? Building Cleaning? Pool Enclosure? Concrete? Stucco? Wood? etc... Help Us Help You.
  4. Very nice trailer John. What are the specs on the Truck? Reach? Gas or Diesel? Mileage? etc.... I might be looking for one soon. What are some of the pitfalls and things to look out for? Thanks.
  5. I have not used it with an Acid yet. I will be trying that in a couple weeks.
  6. I have a FloJet that is AC powered 95psi 1.6gpm and it has been good. It has worked for me for 2 1/2 years until tonight when it gave out. I have used it for strong degreasers, Housewash mixes, Bleach, etc.... I just rinse it out with 5 gallons of water or more after each use or at the end of the day if it will be used for the same chem several times that day. I have a friend that has tried a lot of brands and he has stuck with FloJet for many years. I am happy with it and will have to open up my spare and install it. I will be purchasing a 12volt version for another application when I find a good price.

  8. Synflex hose

I forgot to mention a few things. Depending on what the products are that set up in the pipes you may not want to use steel braided hose if they are flammable because you could have a catastrophe on your hands. Some products cannot handle or be diluted too much with water. Some chemicals will react with rubber hose material. There are a lot of variables to consider especially if the product is flammable. Tell me more about the product and piping and I will help.
  9. Synflex hose

At the Facility I work at we deal with this type of problem all the time. I need to know more about the situation. What type of pipe is it? Cast Iron? Steel? High Carbon Steel? Black Plastic? PVC? If you are having this problem more than once a year then you need to steam or heat trace the pipe which is not hard to do. Do you have Plant Steam? If so you need to tie into it and insulate and jacket the pipe and then regulate the steam so the temp is ok with the product and not too hot or cold. Do you have an Insulation Department or Steam Crew at your facility? Tell me more and I can help.
  10. Diatomaceous Earth and Portland Cement

I have some of the D.E. but do not want to try it with the Cement. As soon as I get a job or a place that it will be able to sit for a few days I will do some experiments. I cannot find the D.E. at a cheap price. A 25 pound bag was 35 dollars. Hope I can find it cheaper. I was told to make a poultice with different chems and change it out every few days and it might work depending on how old the stain is.
  11. Ideal Flatwork Set Up

I like the idea of a trailer because if the truck were to break down then I could always rent a truck to pull a trailer. I like the idea of several machines because if one big one went down then you will be down until it is fixed unless you have a fleet and then it is no problem. I was torn between getting another pressure washer or the vacuum recovery system. With the second machine then I will have to find someone and train them and that has been hard to do here locally especially with the night work. I thought that if I have the vacuum recovery then on most jobs where I have a lot of area to rinse after I clean then using the vacuum recovery I would think I would cut out about 80 to 90 percent of the rinsing which usually takes longer than the cleaning itself then I think I would be working faster overall. There are some locations I do regularly that if I could cut out the rinsing or had a helper rinse then I could get more done in the same time or faster. Since you have the vacuum recovery, what do you think? Thanks.
  12. Vacuum Surfacers

After I finish a few big jobs that are lined up I was thinking of getting the Sirocco system with the Mosmatic Surface Cleaner. A couple of people said that the Mosmatic is modified to use the Vacuum Recovery and they said it works better than the Steel Eagle. I was thinking about interior work just using sheets of Plexiglass, Lexan or Acrylic to block stuff but it would be easier with a helper. I was also thinking about the Turbo Nozzle shield so the spray will not go too far but with a helper I think they could just follow you and get the water. What do you think?
  13. black streak remover

I have seen the Purple Power in the Automotive section where they have the car wash towels, buckets, wax, etc... I have not tried it yet but I do have a gallon on the trailer.
  14. Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?

Tim, Does your 8gpm machine push the 36" surface cleaner good? Can you walk at a good pace? I am thinking about getting an 8gpm 3000psi machine next and I have a Big Guy 28" but my 5.6gpm 3000psi machine won't push it that fast. I have to walk slow so I am thinking about the bigger machine.
  15. House Wash

Great House pics Tim! The before and after are Great. Are you applying chems with the Orange hose or rinsing?
  16. Difficult Awning Cleaning made easy

Please tell the ratio. I actually have some green awnings to do this week and have some F13 on hand but have not called Bob about it yet. They are Canvas and are a dark green so I was going to use the ARS general cleaner on it. What kind of ratio worked for you and did you have anything else in the mix like bleach? Thanks.
  17. Silencing the air cooled engine

There are 3 guys out on the bulletin boards that have had auto mufflers installed onto their rigs and they have told me that it is extremely quiet now. One told me that he had to to get a huge Homeowners Association account which was several hundred houses and nobody wanted loud machines in there. Another was just tired of the loud noise and the last told me that the neighbors would always complain when he worked but I guess maybe everyone does not hear the guys with chainsaws, weedeaters, leaf blowers or loud motorcycles. I am looking into doing the same thing with my 20 hp Briggs on my pressurewasher so it is not as loud as I also do some accounts at night that are across the fence from houses. Luckily nobody has complained yet. I was wondering: If you are cleaning a business in a Business Zoned area would there not be allocations for noise for all hours of the night since it is a business? The 24 hour fast food places or stores-- a lot of loud cars and motorcycles go there at all hours but do people call the police for the loud noise? No. Sometimes it is not fair. Whenever I get the Auto muffler on my engine I will post a picture but it will be a while.
  18. Lights(Halogen) on rigs

I use the Tripod lights from Sears or Home Depot. Both the bulbs are 500watts and when on sale they are about $20-30 . The bulbs last a while but a while back I bought some replacement bulbs from Harbor Freight and the bulbs lasted from 15 minutes to 2 hours max. The tripod I bought from there had the same bulbs and it takes forever to change them out. I like the tripod because I can move it close to the work and the individual lights do swivel some so you can light up a big area. I wanted to mount the lights onto the trailer a while back but a welder friend told me that if you weld them onto the frame they will last a long time but if you elevate them they will need to be reinforced a lot because of all the driving, bumps and vibration will take it's toll on the supports. With the tripods, I usually only use one and when I am done I let it cool down and take the light off the tripod (quick release button from Sears) and put both in the truck or into the toolbox and I am on the way. With 50' 12gauge cords that gives you a lot of area to work with but I do have some of the 12 gauge 100' cords but have not needed them yet. Hope this helps.
  19. ShopVac with pump out capability

Thanks Everyone, That is a good idea of adding the sump pump into the ShopVac. I already have a ShopVac that I could try this with. I just have to get the Sump pump. Thanks Again.
  20. ShopVac with pump out capability

Thanks for the info. I had a sump pump that I used last time on this parking lot and it ran dry and I spent a lot of time using floor squeegees moving water about 100' on an up hill slope. Not Fun. I want something that will not burn up if run dry but the water level only gets to about 1" to 1 1/2" but the area starts to fill and quickly you have a 20' x 20' area with dirty water that you do not want to dry because you will have to return and re-wash the area and fight the up-hill battle again. I was thinking about the shopvac with the auto-pumpout so I can just rinse towards the suction of the pump and not worry about the dirty water drying in the hot sun. This way I can do my final rinse and then not have to go back at all just to move the shopvac to another location. I will look into the sump pump with the float but was wondering how low you can set the float? If anyone has one of these shopvac's that will pump out Please tell me what you like/dislike about them and any advice or experience you have had with them. Thanks again.
  21. using buckets

I had a couple of questions for those that do a lot of windows. I like the idea of the Quadropod with the bucket at a good height but I really like the rectangle buckets better so I do not have to dip the washer in at both ends but would like something that would do the same thing without being bulky and blocking traffic on sidewalks or in front of stores. 1. Does anyone have anything that works for them or made something? 2. Is there anything available for the rectangle buckets that has wheels, at waist height or a little bit lower and a handle to move easily? Thanks.
  22. hitch aide?

I have a friend that had painted some lines in his garage and in the entrance of his garage so he could line up the truck with the lines and it would be very close all the time but the trailer was light enough on the tongue that he would just kick it the 1/2" or 1" and be ready to hook it up. I was thinking of the big rounded mirrors that are in the stores that let you see at the ends of the isles. I would put it high enough to see it over the tailgate but close to the neck of the trailer so you can see the ball hitch lining up. I do not know where they sell these or how much but I think it would work if you had some light shining at the ball hitch if the garage was dark. You could mount it on a little wooden frame so you could remove it and keep it in a safe place. I need to put it on my list of things to search for. I have a big toolbox mounted on the front end of the trailer on the top rail that I could just sit it up on top and I think it would work. I just have to find the mirror. It would be better if it was plastic so if it broke it would not cost a fortune to replace it.
  23. Hose repair

That is a good idea using the impact wrench. I have just used wrenches but the impact wrench would speed it up. I got an air compressor a while back but I want to get the water separator and oiler before I get some air tools. A mechanic friend told me that the moisture in the air will mess up the air tools in a short time. Any good brands or suggestions?
  24. reeling it in

Those hose reels are nice. Can you stack 3 high? There is only so much room on my trailer.
  25. Hose repair

I use those fittings also. With a chop saw (so you get clean edges) it takes less than 10 minutes to make the repair. Just cut off the bad section with the chop saw, install the outer piece over the hose cover (threads counter clockwise) and then the inner piece into the outer piece (which expands the hose into the outer piece) and you are done. Get both kinds because if you have to repair the end at the hose reel it helps to have the swivel end. I have not had any come off yet. I did have the Factory end blow off today at a job and have to shut down and get my spare and install it and go back to the job and finish. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy anything from the place that a lot of us know about but I will not mention their name(----------). The Brand new hose that sprouted a pinhole after about 20 minutes of use and I cut the end off and repaired it now blew off the factory end on the Hose reel end. I installed my new hose I got from Pressure Tek and will repair the hose and use it as an extension when needed. No matter how many fliers that company sends, I will have to force myself to never purchase from them again. I did over pay on shipping several times when talking to other people and that makes me more angry but you learn these lessons in life and life goes on. It reminds me of an old episode of Seinfeld when they were using the term "Serenity Now". I just have to calm myself down. I did not mean to go on and on. Hope this helps.
