  1. Generator will not stay running

Well I finally got around to working on the generator and the Fuel cap is O.K., The oil level is O.K. and still clean, The Spark Plug is O.K., The Air Filter was a little dirty so I replaced it but it still turns off. The Spark Plug Wire looks good, Nothing looks out of the ordinary, I went to get gaskets to take off the carburetor but something is funny about the diagram the mechanic has in relation to the numbers on the machine. On his diagram the fuel bowl below the carburetor is held up by a bolt and mine is held up by two screws on opposite sides of each other. I could not get the screws loose. I was going to remove the whole carburetor and when you take the nuts off the studs, the ends of the studs are like stars or torx and I did not have a socket to fit these which were very small to get the studs out to remove the carburetor. Looks like time to get some special tools or take the trailer to the shop next weekend (the generator is bolted to the trailer). Any suggestions? Thanks.
  2. I was wondering if there is such a thing or how I could set it up: A solenoid valve on my 325 gallon tank near the top where I have my extra shutoff valve. I like to run my tank almost empty when finishing a job so there is a lot less weight to haul. I have to go open and close the valve on the tank or at the spigot occasionally but was wondering if I could have a little remote (like for car alarms) to open and close the valve and save a lot of walking. Just another Idea. Thanks for any help.
  3. Generator will not stay running

Yes I will post to all the boards. That is very observant on your part. I guess you would only know that if you visit them also. I ask around to get different opinions and points of view. There are a lot of people out there that are willing to help and a lot of times they are busy out there working and I give them a lot of time to help as I am fairly new to the business. It really helps a lot when people post suggestions and try to help instead of just posting to post. I am also busy trying to make money and sometimes do not get back to post that often but I do appreciate the helpful people out there that I have learned a lot from and are willing to share their valuable knowledge and experience. I have not had time to work on my generator in the past few days but thanks to the helpful people on the boards, I have a lot of things to try and check. A Big Thanks to Bob at Pressure Tek as he called me yesterday and had some suggestions for my problem. He is very helpful. He gives me some great advice whenever I call him and has some really great products.
  4. Hello Everyone, I was wondering what is safe to use on a painted metal roof that has some oil/grease residue on about half of the roof. I believe the oil/grease residue is coming from the vent from the kitchen. I want to be safe and not remove the paint. Thanks for any help.
  5. A fast Hello

Hello John and Henry, There were so many great classes that I would like to have attended (If I had been able to go) to further my education and increase the avenues for revenue. I hope I will be able to go to the next convention. Are the days finalized so I can start planning (At the Refinery where I work full-time we do our whole year vacation picks in November for the following year)? I had a great time in the wood boot camp with Everett. He is very intelligent and shares the information and he cares about people he was teaching. Sometimes that is hard to find around where I am from. I am sure that a lot of people would like to attend the boot camps. I will attend the wood boot camp in a couple of years as a refresher but I am not ready for vent hoods in my line of work. Someday when I have the knowledge that a lot of others have, I would not mind teaching about something I know well. Thanks for the responses. I now feel that I was heard and the response was a lot more professional and I appreciate that. Thanks.
  6. A fast Hello

Hello John, I had asked last year back in October about the convention for this year to see if they could move some of the classes out because there was like 6 classes I would like to attend but they were at the same time. Some of us one man shows do not bring anyone and would like a chance to attend them all. My posts and another member's posts seem to have fallen on deaf ears or the people did not care. I was told that they were looking into it and not one thing had changed. For me the Convention was going to be very expensive with travel, hotel, convention fees, etc.. and I could not afford to go this year. If I could have gone I would have been able to go to only 3 classes out of 13 because of everything at one time the first day. Could you please see if there is some way to spread the classes out so a person could attend more? I would really like to go and learn as much as possible but when you add the costs of everything and then realize that you could only attend 3 classes out of all the ones you were excited about then it kind of bursts your balloon. I am sure that if I posted again, I would get the same response "We will look into it" so I do not think I will even try. Yes there are a lot of people I would like to meet and learn from and attend the trade shows but being new to the business I would like to maximize my learning and time there because it is only once a year. I would be proud to tell my friends and colleagues that I learned so much that my head was about to burst from the knowledge and wisdom I received instead of "Yeah, I attended 3 classes there" during the 2 or 3 days there and the classes were only an hour and a half long and spent the rest of the time there walking around and browsing. I am sure that you can figure out what anyone would tell you if you told them that but you do not want to hear that you spent a lot of money for only 3 classes. You want to brag to them how much you learned and how it was worth 10 times the price you paid and that you told them they should have attended also and now they missed out. I know this is long but I am passionate about learning more and more. Thanks.
  7. Picks of decent pump-up sprayer

Please let me know how to set them up. I have gone through a lot of Flowmaster Pump up sprayers and would like something that would last. Please let me know how much it will cost for the parts and where you get them. I would like to know how to set it up before ordering. Thanks.
  8. I have my gun setup like Alan's and Tony's with QC's and Couplers. I can let go of the gun trigger and disconnect my wand from the gun and attach the gun to my surface cleaner in about 5 seconds. You just need to get some Couplers and Plugs of the correct size and attach them to the wand and surface cleaner. You can take the fitting off the gun that is attached to the surface cleaner and put either a Coupler or a Plug of the correct size. Then you need a gun on the end of your hose to connect to the wand or surface cleaner. A small investment in Plugs and Couplers saves a lot of time. A lot of times I am cleaning concrete and will switch from surface cleaner to wand as needed. I have a whip hose connected to the gun but the swivel locks up when I use warm water. I wish I had a good swivel that will work with hot water that does not lock up. I got a tackle box full of Plugs, Couplers, etc.... so when something happens I do not shut down for long or have to go to the local supplier the next day or shut down the job and wait for parts. Hope this helps.
  9. Hello Everyone, Has anyone figured out a way to get the fuel out of the Blitz can faster? It seems to take forever to empty a 5 gallon can. I was thinking of drilling a hole in the side opposite of the drain so it would drain faster but do not know what to use to plug the hole when not in use. The self-venting drain really is slow and I am trying to get the cans to drain faster. I have 11 gallon gas and diesel tanks on my machine but when I top them off at a job I would like it to go faster. Anyone have any ideas?
  10. Gas and Diesel cans

Yeah, but 2 diesel and 2 gas- 5 gallon cans to top off my diesel and gas tanks on the machine ends up taking a while. I do not have the room on the trailer for larger tanks or I would buy larger tanks that is why I am asking to empty them faster as on some jobs I am paid by the piece of equipment and only have so much time to do them so the faster I am the more I make. Maybe next year on my new trailer, I will get larger tanks or two sets with valves between them.
  11. Need help with "Obstacle"

Hey Travis, How's it going? Are you in San Antonio or the outskirts? My machine is a trailer rig. I have enough hose to reach the back yard but just have the obstacle of getting over the fence or Air Conditioner as I will have to do it many times as I will be doing the sidewalks on both sides of the house and there are obstacles on both sides (plants on the other side that you cannot walk on and about 20' long covering the sidewalk). I will be washing the roof so the Manlift will be there in the empty lot so I can boom over the house (they have one of those beautiful pebble aggregate driveways that might break if I use the manlift on the driveway). Still looking for some solutions. I think that maybe a couple of 8' step ladders close together one on each side and maybe that will work. I will think about it.
  12. Need help with "Obstacle"

I forgot to mention that the Air Conditioner is about 4 1/2 feet tall. I was thinking of building scaffold around it but not enough room.
  13. Butchered Stamped Concrete Job

Hello Everyone, I got a call to pressurewash some Stamped Concrete that was just poured. When I got there the whole driveway (like a huge 1/2 circle) about 6000 sq.ft. was really done bad. Where the forms were pulled out the concrete is smeared, has lips, the stain is smeared into the other colors, etc... It is a real crap job and I was wondering if anyone knew someone who does Stamped Concrete so I can put the customer in touch with them to try to remedy the situation. I did not get any pictures. I told them that you cannot pressure wash the concrete for at least the first 4 or 5 weeks and they want this pressure washed already. I told them that pressure washing will not get the stain overlaps out. I was contacted by someone who is trying to remedy the situation and I would like to help them. If anyone knows someone or a site to look at please let me know. Thanks.
  14. Butchered Stamped Concrete Job

Thanks for the info. I will call you tomorrow. I saw the pics. They are incredible! I wish I knew how to do this stuff. I would like to do some little projects for my house.
  15. *Scam Alert*

Hello Everyone, I thought I would pass this along. There is a company called "e Smart Pages.com" that is pulling a scam of getting you to purchase listing but not actually listing you and then when you call you can never talk to anyone but get an answering machine or they say they will call you back but never do. I mistakenly paid them back in February thinking they were a local business I wanted to do business with and when I called them wanting my money back and them not even listing my business, all I got was the run-around from everyone I talk to and their supervisors. I should have been more aware but I got scammed. I will file with the Federal Trade Commission and the BBS of Delaware. Everyone watch out for them.
  16. *Scam Alert*

I paid with a personal check that cleared on the 15th of March. I thought I was paying the other company that I wanted to do business with. I do not know what else to do. I did file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau of Delaware. I will keep looking into what I can do. Thanks for any help.
  17. Cordless Tools

Hello APlus, Have you used the 19.2 drill yet? I saw one with a tight spot right angle drill both at Sears for $100.00 . I am trying to decide between the Sears, Ryobi and the Black&Decker. The Black&Decker special edition puts out 390 inch pounds of torque while the Hitachi only has 350 for $149.00 and the Dewalt has only 350 for $169.00 . The Ryobi does not say on the box and I have not gone to Sears yet but would like some opinions. I do have the Ryobi 14.4 drill and it is pretty good but I would like something stronger and last longer. So Everyone, Please let me know your opinions. Thank You.
  18. Gutters

Hello Everyone, I am starting to get some calls for cleaning gutters and am looking for a good brush to clean the outside of the gutters. What does everyone use? Where can I buy some? What is the best material to use? Nylon? Broom Fiber? Other? Has anyone used the Stack Brush for gutters? Thanks for any help.
  19. Hello Everyone, I am getting a backup pump and was wondering what is the best way to go for the 12 volt source: Marine or Regular car battery? I have heard good things about both but would like some more info. Please share your experiences and any pro's and con's between each battery. I am going 12 volt because I will not have to run my generator to do some small jobs or roof jobs. Thanks.
  20. Mixing Powdered Chemicals

Hello, I was wondering what different ways everyone uses to mix chemicals. I am going to mix some powdered chemicals and was looking for something inexpensive like an attachment for the end of a drill if that will work. I am going to mix a few 55gallon barrels and would like to find a way that is efficient and inexpensive. Thanks for any help.
  21. Hello. Has anybody ever had a customer with moss on the wood siding? The roots of the moss are in the wood. Is there anything that will kill the moss and the roots? Please let me know asap. Thanks.
  22. getting rid of moss on wood siding

The customer wants a price to clean it off of the house. It is everywhere. It is even on the second story and the chimney. I think I could knock it off using the X-Jet M5 that I have but I just want to do a good job. The homeowner told me they usually have the house pressure washed but the last people could not reach the second story and the top of the chimney. I would like to offer a solution to their problem and maybe that would help me get my name out in this part of town. The moss does look like it has roots and is growing into the siding. I was wondering if I cleaned the house and then used something right after to kill the roots or if I should wait a day or more for things to dry. It has been raining here lightly for a couple of days. Any suggestions for chemicals? If I go out there again, I will take my camera and post the pictures. Thanks for any help.
  23. estimating Sheet

Can I get a copy also? Please?
  24. Go to Red Wing Shoes and look at their boots. I use them for shift work at the Refinery through the rain and muddy areas and I have never had pruny feet. The leather is thicker than most and you take them back as often as you want and they oil them free for you. I usually do this every 4 months or when they start to look dry and faded. I also use them for pressure washing and I use low pressure on them to rinse the mud and grease off of them. The only time my feet are wet are on a really hot day when my feet sweat a lot. The boots I use are lace ups. The info on the box says: COMFORTFORCE SUPERSOLE 2.0 . The sole is kind of clear. I am on my feet at the refinery 12 hours per shift and they are pretty comfortable. They usually last about a year before the soles wear unevenly due to the unlevel and odd surfaces I deal with at work. Maybe I walk funny? They are around $130.00 to $170.00 depending on which style you choose. The best seller there is a pull up type boot with a snake engraved into the bottom sole of the boot. There is not a lot of tread on it but it does last a long time. I like lace up boots because the pull up boots make my socks fall down constantly even when the socks are brand new. Hope this helps.
  25. PWNA Convention in Dallas, Texas

I am sure that some of the members of the PWNA will be some of the instructors of the classes and I would like to know that IF I GO to the Convention, Would you mind if I record the class? Henry has a great idea so we can share information. OR... Will there be someone there professionally recording everything so we can not only pay for the Convention, but pay for recordings of the classes for things we could not attend also? Can we record Board of Directors? Does anyone who is doing presentations mind if we record? Please let me know because not only us beginners, but some of the most experienced would like to know also. Again, not trying to bad-talk the PWNA but this issue was brought up back in November and now it seems like we are now just bringing it up. The PWNA is a great organization and I am learning from it but with the above post of two different Board of Directors saying different things, it seems like there is a big lack of communication or what I do not know. In the future when I have a lot of experience under my belt and I really know my stuff, I would not mind volunteering to be teaching and if there were enough people wanting the class repeated at a later time I would not mind doing so BECAUSE IT HELPS US ALL LEARN AND BECOME BETTER. In doing so, we will raise the bar to a higher level and bring more recognition and respect to what we love to do. It is really great that everyone is sharing the information that it took people years of learning by trial and error, lots of money, and probably blood, sweat and tears. I really do appreciate it because where I live there are some companies that do pressure cleaning and would not help you unless you are paying them and they will not share anything with you because they have the mentality of you taking money from them even though they cannot be doing every job in town at the same time. Some of them are friendly but they still give out dis-information to set you off-track and to potentially destroy your machine by telling you to do things and saying it is okay to put everything through your pump and it will not damage anything. I tell them what I have learned and I may seem paranoid but I will not put bleach or caustic through my pump. I will not upstream. That is my preference and I know a lot of people upstream soaps but I prefer not to. I know this is long but sometimes you have to get things off your chest.
