How much did it cost you to start?
Christopher replied to Little Buddy's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Before I started my own business, I have had a lot of experience working with others out there and at jobs I have had to do pressure washing tools, equipment, vehicles, heavy equipment, etc....as part of the job. I knew what I wanted and it cost me between $20k and $25K to start but I did buy a lot of stuff that I did not need and eventually started using so most of what I purchased I finally put into use. I agree with the others, don't skimp on quality equipment/tools, it will come back to haunt you or worse. -
WIN A $5000.00 Dollar Hotwater SKID
Christopher replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
I thought the MB Round Table was Great! The Fort Worth Round Table already has a lot of great things going on along with the Hot Water Skid you can win, worth $5000.00 There are other prizes also like chemicals, bags, turbo nozzles, and more! One of the best things is it is FREE! And it is only about a 7 hour drive so no airplane ticket needed. A lot of industry experts will be there and sharing what they know. If you clean graffiti or want to, you really should get to the Fort Worth Round Table, Roger will be doing a presentation on Graffiti Cleaning. I know what you are thinking, anyone with the right graffiti cleaners can take care of that, why should I go to hear Roger speak? Here is why: I have been cleaning graffiti for almost 6 years now but never really knew that much about it and at the MB Round Table I thought it would be another show of how to apply the cleaners and safety precautions, blah, blah, blah. Was I wrong! I learned what the graffiti meant, what to do when you come across certain kinds of graffiti, how you can get the police to watch your back when doing a job, what kinds to just walk away from, which ones will endanger your life/safety, etc..... and More! When Roger started talking I admit I was not listening but after about a couple minutes he had my undivided attention and I was going to listen no matter what! I did not know this stuff about graffiti and what it meant. Sure we have a lot of the gangs and the gangs that are both in Mexico and the U.S. but never knew what the graffiti meant, it sure was an eye opener to say the least! For those attending the Fort Worth Round Table, this is something you don't want to miss, especially if you are cleaning graffiti or plan on adding this service to your business. -
Ron, I am not sure what kind of help is needed but I will help if I can. I will be arriving Friday late afternoon or evening and leaving right after the event Saturday (7 hour drive more or less depending on traffic), I have to be back here to work Sunday Morning. I will help with what I can.

The PWNA Convention
Christopher replied to paul horsley's topic in PWNA News, Events, and Information
Great videos Ron, Thanks. Sounds like that is a great event! -
I went to Mesa last year and between Phoenix and Mesa, I did not see any dirty roofs at all. I did see some mold and algae here and there like on sides of buildings and houses where the sun does not shine but nothing on the roofs. Maybe Arizona is where the florida Roof Cleaners will go to retire so they never have to see another dirty roof ever. hahahahaha

Anywhere further south than Chicago would be more centralized. Texas is like in the middle of the U.S. and Dallas has more than enough room to hold a convention like the one back in 2004, the one with the window cleaners association. That year there was snow and it really was a great convention and I learned a lot of great things. I never found out who they were calling "little union boy" but when I asked they said that it is some weirdo that always talks about being part of an association or organization but I think that they were just mocking that person and calling it a "union". The guys and a lady there just kept on cracking jokes about that person. 2004 was the year I started in business and that was a great convention to go to, I would like to see that happen again with the window cleaners, I met a lot of great people that were in their industry for a long time, most were doing windows for over 20 years, some over 30 years. I learned a lot about window cleaning and I made money cleaning windows on some jobs where that might have broke the deal if they were not done. Even if the convention was not in Texas, a more southern state would be easier to get to so more people could drive if they wanted to.

Steel Eagle Surface Cleaner
Christopher replied to cartersproperty's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
First, before you tear open anything, go get some pictures of what you are talking about, pictures always help. There is a big chance that it is not the swivel, unless it is 2 clean stripes that are parallel and everything else is dirty, Otherwise it is probably something else. You need to not be so eager to jump the gun, it can cost you a lot of time and money in a certain situation and remember, there is a lot of mis-information out there and it is sometimes spread by people out there that just do not have a clue or guys that want you to fail. Go get pictures and post them so we can see what you are talking about and we can take it from there. -
Just to add to what Ken mentioned, there are guys here that have tried all kinds of pool cleaning chemicals, powders, etc.. trying to find something that works the same or better than 10% or 12.5% or less expensive but nothing else does the job or works the same. Knowing this now, save your money from trying to reinvent the wheel and use what works, keep it simple and go make the money.

Christopher replied to Christopher's question in The Club House
Thanks Ken, I am trying to make it but it looks like it probably will not happen, not enough money to make it right now and the contract is a net-30 so I will not see any of the checks until a month or so from now which would be too late unfortunately. _________________ Superior Power Washing Chris Chappell 361-853-2513 prostaff@superiorpowerwashing.com House Cleaning Driveway and Sidewalk Cleaning -

Steel Eagle problem
Christopher replied to Mike Williamson's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Depending on how you look at it, if the spray bars are home made and work then that is great but if they are not balanced, the vibration could ruin a $290.00 Whisper Wash or Whirl A Way swivel or a $600.00 Deublin swivel. This is just a different way of looking at it. I have tried to make one myself a while back but the steel bars and fittings are never the same weight so I would have to grind metal off parts and after a few hours I got close but in the end I thought of how much it would cost for a new swivel if it got messed up from the vibration so I just ordered new spray bars. _________________ Superior Power Washing Chris Chappell 361-853-2513 prostaff@superiorpowerwashing.com House Cleaning Driveway and Sidewalk Cleaning -
Great post Chris, those sound lke Great Prizes! I would like to hear Michael Hinderliter speak about building your business and how he built his to such a huge company. I think it will be a great event! _________________ Superior Power Washing Chris Chappell 361-853-2513 prostaff@superiorpowerwashing.com House Cleaning Fleet Washing

For the Dallas Round Table (do not know the date yet), maybe a Hot Water Skid should be given away along with a cold water machine like 5.5gpm @3000psi, maybe a mini laptop computer and maybe also some chemicals, powder and liquid. Sounds like a good start, what else? Who is planning on going to Dallas? What would you like to see? What demo's would you like to see? What speakers would you like to listen to?

chem injector problems
Christopher replied to Chappy's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I always have a spare on the trailer and a couple rebuild kits on hand at all times, seems like they go down right when you are about to start a job or in the middle, never at the end of the job. _________________ Superior Power Washing Chris Chappell 361-853-2513 prostaff@superiorpowerwashing.com House Cleaning Driveway and Sidewalk Cleaning -

chem injector problems
Christopher replied to Chappy's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Just a FYI here, if you are using a Northern Tools Pressure Gun, I have found several of them that will not let you downstream chemicals. I know it is the gun because I can take the gun off and downstream with just cracking open the ball valve. It was their most expensive guns (black gun with yellow trigger, other was black gun with red trigger). I tried a General and Suttner gun and they downstream ok. I know, I know. I had a good coupon and was in the store while out of town and thought I would give them a try, I could not return them until I went out of town again. I will not buy their guns again. _________________ Superior Power Washing Chris Chappell 361-853-2513 prostaff@superiorpowerwashing.com House Cleaning Driveway and Sidewalk Cleaning
