Look at my rig drawings and tell me what Im missing!
zhamilton89 replied to zhamilton89's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
you make a good point about filling up, has anyone ever rigged a central fuel system? I think a single tank for gas and a single tank for diesel would work out great if it could be made safely. And also i was thinking about a central emergency kill switch that is connected to all of the equipment, something like an emergency pump shut off at gas stations, you know a big red button on the back of the trailer -

I already picked one up, thanks for the offer Scott, but do you guys think it would work to just move the pressure washer to infront of the 200gal tank? then use the rear of the trailer for storage? The only reason I had it in the back was so I could use a shorter hose from the PW to the pressure reel. -

Looks like a beefy version of one of the hydrotec systems! Good work -
Hey guys Im going to be buying a trailer within the next few weeks and i just wanted to know what the biggest trailer I can pull without reaching a point of diminishing returns. i.e. when will the trailer become too big so that the storage space doesn't benefit as much as getting into small places. I am looking at enclosed trailers and it looks like the smallest i could get away with is a 7x14 tandem, however I am seeing 8x20 tandems for around the same price. I just want to know if an 8x20 is too big? I want to be able to do parking garages and drive throughs with water recovery and I just dont want the trailer being the thing that holds me back from getting large jobs. I dont forsee weight being an issue, the truck is a chevy 2500 longbed with 4.10 rear and is wired for brakes. Also the trailer will have 550gallons of water in it MAX, and then all the equipment for surface cleaning and recovery. Does this all sound within limitis? The axles are 3500lbs each on the smaller trailers and then 5000lbs each on the larger ones. Thanks for any help, Im just trying to see some of the things I am missing.

Has anyone read this book? Power Washer's Guidebook - 4th Revision | ePowerwash.com It looks pretty legit, I just want to know if it is a waste of money or if it is worth the read. Books I have bought on trades this specific in the past have been a joke. Thanks,

I dont mean to comment on every one of your posts haha but it looks great, I did pavers for a long time and it looks like you did it right! Most people dont run the slag sand out that far and their circles never look that good! Good job man

just wondering, what size trailer are you running? And is there anyway to solve the water in the trailer problem aside from placing the reels elsewhere? And arent you afraid of them getting stolen?

Ive only ever seen these things used for light snow removal, and even then I couldn't imagine them being very efficient. Wouldent a rotation broom work 1000s of times better?

What to use for hose tie downs?
zhamilton89 replied to Rob R.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
best way by far, if you cant weld it drill and tap, will work for pressure hose and even garden hose, what I am doing right now is just locking the reel and tucking the end of the hose under the previous loop then pulling it tight, stays on great. I still need to weld my fittings on. -

I got an email from some lady in romania or something wanting to contract me from landscape work. I guess she saw my old landscape website and thought I sounded stupid. Just moved that message right over to the trash... -
If you are working at night, the more lights the better, I turn my twin strobe on the roof rack on, and even my flashers on the truck and trailer. If you are working along a main road leave the truck and headlights on. Ive had amber lights on my truck for years and years, and I don't hesitate to turn them on whenever I am doing anything except driving normally. If someone wants to pull you over, let them. Id rather get a ticket than get hit by a car

Hello everyone I am in the landscape business in Michigan right now and I am in high school, I am attending college at Arizona State and I was thinking about building a powerwashing rig to run while i'm in school. I have all of the business knowledge to run a small business i just need to know how the residential market is there. Would there be enough residential work to keep me busy? Thanks for any help you can give me, i just want to see how big of a gamble im taking by starting a biz in a strange city. Thanks! Zach
