. Cleaning Procedures Basically, cleaning is a five-step process: 1. Pre-inspection 2. Pre-soak 3. Scrub 4. Rinse 5. Apply a topical sealant 1. Pre-Inspection Before cleaning an awning it is important to inspect the awning frame and service location for potential problems. If any are identified they should be discussed with the customer and written on the work order before proceeding. Such things may include: Fabric degradation or failure Seam failure Lace failure Colorization failure Lighting outage Missing deflectors Rusted frames, or rust stains Birds nests Truck damage Loose frame at building connection Torn, missing, or deteriorated weatherproof caulking between top rail and building The safest approach is to have the customer sign a work order and liability waiver noting any such defects/problems before you begin the job..... pre-inspection is v\important.....there are so many sites with different advice, that you would have research and go with what you feel is right. dale shoot me a email. tony another top job :-)

i would treat for efforessence.....but i dare say the cost of the chems to buy in ratio to the job....would be costly.
-
you only need a weak mix for minor mildew.....mist well before and during and after....if you really worried...rinse off one way and pin some plastic\wood sheets\thick cardboard at the end you choose a end that presents less of a problem
-
pictures would help with this problem....what chems have you tried on a test spot...its hard to say sometimes off the top of your head....it could be varnis....check out vseal if you manage to clean it.

sorry, another startup question
paul-uk replied to Medic442's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
hi...not sure of your name but welcome to the board.....what you ask cannot be answered with a few lines here, but if you use the search on here you will get a lot of info and a lot of questions....do you know which part of the p\washing biz you want to get into ?......you can be the best p\w in your area but if you have no work coming in how do you pay your c\cards off....can you knock on a door and sell a p\w service to the customer who opens the door ???....sell 5 jobs and hire the equimpment that you need to do the job.......if you think there is a big demand pick 10 of the worst houses you can find and try to sell them a job....i think you will find they like thier houses the way they are. whoever told you that this is a low cost entry level biz is talking out of thier rear end....have read of this link by someone that knows the biz inside out... http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2034&highlight=cody paul. -

paul-uk replied to Gavin's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
gavin....its like planters and the like thats left in the same place forever....put them back in the same place they were and explain to the customer once you have the job and you are about to clean the deck what the outcome will be..... and if they get any new pots to be sure to move them about the deck otherwise they will have the same problem next time.......this should eliminate any probs as you should be(by this stage of the sale)thier best freind or confidant. cheers paul. -
well al i wish you all the best with the move as it is a big decision and a lot of things have to be taken into account....no use going for the scenary if there is no work in the area.....paul. ps i have just watched a documentry and from what they say keep away from the east coast.....decide yourself....the closing words of the program said !its not a matter of if.....its a matter of when" http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/2000/mega_tsunami.shtml
