Should have mentioned that after the rubber tube has been cleaned out, it takes about 3 days for the problem to re surface again. Checked the tube again today, & after the lighter oil change, & there's just a ''hint'' of water in the tube. As in when its squeezed, you can just see it moving about as the tube is rolled between your fingers. Sooooo. What you say you? Is it the oil,. or is there some other cause I haven't considered?...........

...Annnnd we back trend setters. Was having a beer yesterday with a mechanical fitter.......He thinks its the oil viscosity. Although I am using B&S approved oil, he's thinking its getting whipped into a foam in the crankcase, & foam being lighter, is getting sucked up from the crankcase, thru the breather tube to the carby. Following B & S guidelines, I have filled & changed the engine with 5w 30. A lighter oil for sure, but that's what B & S recommend below 5deg Celsius Any thoughts? Anyone?.........

Removing pulley from AR pump
mick m replied to harrellsm's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You should be able to tap around the inner section of the pulley, towards the pump as its a tapered bush. Once the pulley is off the bush, it will loosen itself on the keyway enabling you do what you want to do. Good luck. -

Rain on fresh stain?
mick m replied to turbonyg's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Sounds like you need to invest more in some good old common sense. Why would you contemplate sealing anything at all, if the weather is, at best dubious? Learn from this & go forward. Give it 5 years, & you'll read the same thing from someone else & you'll say to yourself; "God, what a moron"....then you will smile. As I have done. -
PROS AND CONS OF PRESSURE CLEANING
mick m replied to kctech42hl's question in Residential Pressure Washing
What a clown. Sounds like a media release for the very 1st pressure cleaner made. -
Do not use your s/c! It will start to chew up the surface before you say "crud"! A really mild detergent, followed by a really good scrub. Bear in mind that the chemical will carry the oil across the road & stain that as it go's, so that will need to be factored into your price. Good luck.

Hot dang! That's the stuff. See it happening in real time is an added bonus. We don't have vinyl clad homes here in perth, so this all new to me. How did it come about in the US? To me, it seems strange to cover a house in vinyl. Do the chemicals leach the colour from the house over time, or is it uv stabilised? Any hoo, excellent video. Well done you. :orange:

I had to do some pressure cleaning at BP s oil refinery here in Perth a while ago, & their mechanic was checking my vehicle over & he pointed to my plastic jerry can & said it wasn't allowed on site. reason? When petrol comes out of the spout, it creates a small static charge. So I had to use a metal one. no big deal, but you'd think that a steel one would be more likely to give off a spark if dropped. Don't quite know how that would happen, but thems the rules.

I'm the opposite. I've had the last 3 days off & now I'm chomping at the bit to get back into it. I don't do ''not working'' very well at all. If I'm not working, I'm checking the equipment over, doing quotes getting chemicals etc. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I thrive on being under the pump as it were. Be honest now. If you we're on vacation, are you saying you wouldn't be thinking about what was going on back home? I don't think you ever really switch off when you're self employed. You cant afford to. Just my opinion.

Cleaning wood ceiling
mick m replied to Trevor C.N's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Add some detergent to the percarb & shoot it up with a foamer. Cant suggest anything sealing wise. -
What does this have to do with what we do? Cleaning. If your feeling that sad, ring Life line. ........

Trying to res-erect my not so used but not stored well machine from years ago.
mick m replied to First Impressions's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Depending on how long it's been unused, long term you might be better off to remove the head altogether & check it over in detail. Spray some lube on the valves & check the condition of the seals. They may have just perished over time. You know what they say; If you don't use it, you lose it -

GX390 starter hub question
mick m replied to Ballistic's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Strange as this may sound........Take out the spark plug & pop a length of starter rope down the hole leaving a bit poking out so you can remove it. rotate the starer hub by hand which will be easy as there is now no compression, until the piston comes up & hits the rope, there by jamming the engine. As for the rotation, just look at the thread & you'll know if its left or right handed. Use a ''normal'' bolt to see if the thread is the same. Get the right sized wrench & give it a short sharp wack with a hammer. As for the torque, I'm not sure, but if you tighten it as much as you can by hand, then use the hammer to give it that final nip up. Remove the rope by reversing the rotation, pop in the plug & get back to work. -
NO! It wont function at all. The spring is there to push the ball bearing up, to divert the flow. Find that spring!!

Troubleshooting/bypassing thermostat.
mick m replied to Andrew Bandarovich's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The thermostat is there for a reason. Why do you want/need to bypass it. Ring the mob that made the unit, get them to give you the ok to by pass it. Chance's are they wont. -
Pressure fluctuations, trigger gun problems and pop goes the relief valve
mick m replied to Bennyhonda's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Sorry Ben, I was refering more to the pressure problems, rather than the steam. Someone had this exact same problem a couple of weeks ago & it turned out he had cracked pistons. Almost the same symptoms as yours in regards to the pressure fluctuations. Is your gun pulsing with water flowing thru it? -
Pressure fluctuations, trigger gun problems and pop goes the relief valve
mick m replied to Bennyhonda's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Do you run the water thru the heater all the time even tho it's not turned on?, or do you only connect it when needed? If it's the latter, then it probably is built up scale/rust trying to get out. If it's the former, have you got some dirty water from somewhere?
