  1. should i buy the x-jet????????

I know Steven only sells them with 3/8 line he orders them that way. OK here is my thinking on the difference between the 3/8 and the 1/4 lines. If there is no difference between the two then why would there be a difference in a 5/8 water hose and a 3/4 water hose going to your machine since they both go into the same fitting?????? I will answer that question the flow rate is higher with the 3/4 water hose. The same holds true with the X-Jet the bigger the hose the higher the flow rate will be. Also the barb on the 1/4 line that comes off the X-Jet is not the same barb as the 3/8 barb. The hole size may be the same size I dont know. Steven doesnt sell the same close range nozzle as everyone else either him and Glenn sell a different close range nozzle. I hope this clears up some things and as usual if Im not right I know someone will straighten me out. Its OK with me to disagree with me just as long as we all agree that its OK to disagree. Man I think im confused now maybe I did to many 16oz curls tonight at Joes Crab Shack LOL:D
  2. First HD-80 Job

Thanks OTP there are alot of post that can be read many ways thats why I asked instead of jumping to conclusions.:D
  3. First HD-80 Job

All my pump ups now have the relief valve but it hasnt always been that way for me but for now on it will. I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea about why I am posting on this subject its just up till a few weeks ago I had never noticed the warning on the pump up and I wanted alittle discussion about it to see if I was thinking out in left field or if there was any merit to what I was thinking. Thanks for all replys:D
  4. First HD-80 Job

OTP in reading your post I can read it two different ways and since its just words I thought I would ask. Are you saying that the way I am thinking is correct or the other way of reading it were you saying it in a smarty way. I know what I do and what I dont do but like I said before not everybody has been in this prof. and used Sodium Hydroxide so Im looking at it from a saftey standpoint.:D
  5. Painted Brick

Cool it was just a friendly reminder.:D
  6. First HD-80 Job

I may be wrong on this and if I am Im sure someone will comment but this is the way my mind is seeing this. Its not that Sodium Hydroxide will explode or anything but from what I gather if produces gases. If this is true then using it is not a problem however say you works for a while and decide to goto lunch or something and the pump up is full of say HD-80 and it sits in the hot sun for lets say an hr in 100 degree weather could the pump up be unsafe when you go back to it and start working??????? In my mind it would but if you can convence me otherwise I will change my mind. Have you ever seen a plastic gas can half full of gas after it has sit in the sun a while with out the small air vent open it is very swollen and it was never pressureized now image a pump up pressurized and sitting in the sun. I think this is where I see the problem.:D
  7. First HD-80 Job

Beth I am a little suprised to see you say forget the disclaimer on the pump up as much as you talk saftey. Im sure that somewhere there has been an accident or it wouldnt be on there. I use pump ups also and I have and still do use them for certain jobs with the Sodium Hydroxide however I dont think I would ever advise someone to forget a warning that is labeled on a product. My advice is and this is to all the newbies out there this year that are flooding these boards to use caution when using a pump up or anything for that matter when using Sodium Hydroxide. Just for the record Im not coming down on Beth just want to give the advice to the newbies out there. I have noticed alot of newbies and the numbers on the members tally going up up up on all the boards. I hope everyone is having a great year.:D
  8. Painted Brick

Make sure your insurance is paid up in case you do something on those things that you arent suppose to. Im not in any way saying that you will its just that accidents happen and stripper runs down hill. Good luck with this.:D
  9. should i buy the x-jet????????

Paul like I said I did not test it I am just saying what I was told by Steven. I have not tested my close range nozzle versus it being open however when I use the close range nozzle my bucket empties very quickly so I think they are about the same. I hope you get the problem with the close range nozzle figured out I know that could get very frustrating for you.:D
  10. should i buy the x-jet????????

Paul I suggest you test it because I talked with Steven Rowlett on this and he did test this and what he came up with was that the 3/8 line draw was greater than the 1/4 line draw by quite a bit.
  11. should i buy the x-jet????????

I just recently found out that all X-Jets are not created equally. I have an X-Jet that came with 3/8 line and found out that most are sold with 1/4 line. Also mine came with the close range nozzle it was not extra.:D
  12. First HD-80 Job

There are plenty of people who will not agree with me and thats ok this is what I do. I have a ball valve at the end of my hose and I connect the wand to this ball valve. I apply my stripper by using my X-Jet with close range nozzle. Here is my method of applying. First I mix my stripper to desired strength knowing that the X-Jet will dilute. I then start my machine without the wand connected and I crack the ball vavle open half way this makes it shoot a stream of water much like a water hose with a sprayer attachment. I prewet around the structure very good. I then shut off the valve and attach my wand with X-Jet c/r and apply stripper to the entire struture. Then I turn off the ball valve and take off the wand and rinse down very well anything that got any stripper on it that should not have. I then reattach the wand with a 4010 nozzle and start rinsing the struture. The 4010 will give my pressure washer around 500 psi. I then repeat the same process with the citrialic acid and when finished I give the area a complete rinse down with the hose to make dang sure everything is washed down. I have never had a problem with this method. I will say that when stripping things that need a stronger solution than the X-jet will give you I would recommend a Shur Flo or Flow Jet as I have recently found out that pump up sprayers have warning lables that tells you not to spray Sodium Hydroxide thru them. I hope this helps.:D
  13. x-jet/blockage question

I use a ball valve on mine and with the machine running I can turn the valve off and I dont have to relieve the pressure for some reason it comes off without pressure anybody got the reason behind that (Im asking) because I dont know why but it does.:D
  14. should i buy the x-jet????????

BUY IT!!!!!!! I waited 5 yrs to buy mine and I kick myself for waiting it will pay for itself over and over again. I use mine in conjunction with my extension wand and it works like a charm.:D
  15. x-jet/blockage question

Ron on mine I would use my ball valve but you didnt mention one so I guess your going to be in for a ride. I would suggest a ball valve connected on the end of your hose so that in the future you can just turn the valve and disconnect. Another thing you might try is to disconnect the water supply line and let it sit overnight it may relieve some of the pressure if your lucky.:D
  16. Down Streaming Sodium Hydroxide

For all you guys using a pump up sprayer for Sodium Hydroxide based products let me let you in on a little secret. I just got a new pump up from Sears after returning one that was in warranty and it has a lable on the pump up that reads NEVER SPRAY FLAMMABLE MATERIALS OR PRESSURE AND GAS PRODUCING CHEMICALS SUCH AS SODIUM HYDROXIDE THROUGH THIS SPRAYER. Well I guess your down to a Shur Flo or Flo Jet. I personally use my X-Jet to spray these chems however with all the contraversy on this topic I thought I would let you know what I just read on a brand new Pump UP.
  17. Calcium Hypochlorite

I bought some calcium hypochloride (Pool Shock) for my pool and then I had to call and have some pipes fixed that were under warranty after they froze over the winter. When the pool guy got here he told me to take the calcium back because it would cause a chemical reaction if poured straight into the skimmer when it came into contact with the 3" tabs and cause an explosion. I was told to buy the Sodium Dichloride it is a better (Pool Shock) and much safer to use. This is a warning to you guys that have pools the guy that came out to fix my pool is the actual distributor he is not the sales people and the guys is friend of mine.:D
  18. XJET Problems ?

Hold your wand straight and squeeze the trigger and let it start drawing chemical then raise your wand it should continue to draw I have to do it this way when using it on an extension wand it must start drawing all the way up the hose before you raise your wand I hope this helps you out.:D

Jon, Ron must have been reading some books or something because I dont know what half that stuff he was talking about is. I knew he was just kidding but he lost me on some of that stuff.:D

What? That went way over my head!!!!!!!!! Bob have Beth run your demographics and see what your area can handle money wise as far as Ron P I guess he just likes to type I really got nothing out of his last post except that he wants to charge less and go to Walmart.

Speed and good chems are the way I make money on jobs in my area. If I couldnt do a wash job fast I would go broke in this business in my area. I have to spend more on chems but the speed is where I make it up. I am in a rural area so I have to price a little cheaper in order to get the work if not I wouldnt get any work. I worked in Shelby county a couple of yrs ago and I could price my jobs higher however I was having to drive 60 miles one way to give an estimate that I might or might not get thats when I made the decision to stay in the county i'm in a lower my prices a little bit in the long run it worked out for me. My overhead isnt that bad thank goodness. I have an office in my house and all my equiment is payed for but even after lowering my prices I found out how to work faster and still average $60.00 an hr. The key is in the chems I used home brews for a while and found out right quick to get away from them you can clean with them but not near as fast as with a good quality chemical. Good luck Bob with whatever you decide to do. What kind of equipment do you have like an X-Jet or Extension Wand, how many gpm are you pushing these things will make a big difference in how fast you will work.:) In the above Im not referring to the wood care end of my business just the washing end of it. I look at them seperately you have to because they are different.

Ron you must have not seen them on a hill site were a 24ft extension wont reach the top. We have them like that around here all the time. Without seeing pics of the job I was just trying to give him a rough estimate anyhow you and I both know you have to see the job in order to give an accurate price as to knowing whats on the metal and its age and how much the paint is faded, wheather or not the paint going to try and come off and so on and so forth. Also I dont know his market around there around here on a job like that $175.00 would be about as much as you could get but thats here in the Midsouth. I have had Beth do a check on the zip codes I work in and they are not that great so when I post I am posting what I could get here not what you could get or somebody else could get thats why asking for prices on these boards is not a great idea because every market is different.
  23. Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to all the good folks on these BBS that have given me both moral support, finacial support, and prayers. The guys and gals on these boards are great people and all I can say is THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!:D
  24. Thank you

Thanks John my oldest girl will be on all the meds for the rest of her life it just goes with the type surgery she had. The surgent had to do reconstructive surgery on her heart and those are the effects of the surgery but I will take her taking meds three times a day any day over the alternative to him not having done the surgery know what I mean. The surgery she had in 95% of all cases is done in three seperate surgerys in order for everything to adjust to there bodys where as she had it done in just one surgery so it impacted her body pretty harshly. When she went in to have surgery they didnt know how big or how many holes she had in her heart and once they opened her heart up it looked like swiss cheese inside so the surgery they did was the only option for her except for a heart transplant and either way she would be on meds the rest of her life. Dont feel bad for her because she makes the best out of life that she can she just doesnt have energy like normal kids but she tries to be as normal as possible. We have a handicap thing you hang on your mirror for those days that she is down and out but for the most part she is doing good. Keep us in your prayers though because like we found out two yrs ago when she had a stroke surprises can jump up at any time. The lead wire on her pace maker some how broke and her heart slowed down to 45 to 50 beats and she had a stroke. It affected her math skills the worse she was a straight A student and now she struggles to get D's and high F's but I dont fuss at her because I know she cant help it.

Woops I made a little mistake in that post above I took the 80 x 30 and forgot to multiply x 2. Im use to putting the wheel measing tool to the ground and walking with it and taking the measurements not sitting behind a computer my mistake thanks for pointing it out to me Ron P. I would charge $1.00 per Linear Ft which would be 80+80+30+30=$220.00 each still not much more than 1 to 1.5 hrs each though its not much more than a double wide trailer. The big ones are 32x80 and I can wash them in 1.5 hrs. I always figure the time with the X-Jet and an Extension wand its just part of the job. As far as chems everybody has there favorite and Im going to leave it at that.:D
