  1. Morgan,

It is great seeing you again! Thank you so much for posting that information. Hope all is well with you and the your family.

    Beth

Hi Beth were doing pretty good. Shelby the one that had the stroke in December is getting better she can walk really good now but still needs the wheel chair when we go shopping or something that involves alot of walking. She has limited use of her right arm and very little use of her hand. We are hoping to get her theropy started soon still waiting for her brain to catch up. She started being home schooled 3 hrs a week through the public school system last month. She is on about a second grade level and she is in the 7th so she has alot of catching up to do. I still check this board and of course The cleaner network but Im out of washing all together I just help my friend that has all my equipment make bids and stuff so that I can collect my rent and percentage of the jobs he does. LOL I am driving an 18 wheeler now hauling sod for a company that pays my health insurance and a good wage to boot. At this point in life with my kids the insurance is the main factor and with there health I have to work for a company. I still like helping folks on the board and cominicating with all my internet friends. Good to hear from ya. See ya:lgwave:

  5. I sold cars for a year and I know how to sell I just dont like selling cars god aweful hours. The thing about selling is you have to make them see it, feel it, and own it in your sells pitch. If you dont sell the job and I mean sell it dont just go up there and measure and give them a price. Anybody can do that you have to bulls t with them. While selling cars I have spent a hole day with a single customer selling them a particular car. The point is dont be in a hurry to get somewere else this is how you make money and selling is 50% of the job cleaning is the other 50%. The famous line from my car selling days was LOVE THE ONE YOUR WITH. One more thing to remember in selling is to listen listen listen people love for you to put them up on a pedistal. Give them there 15 minutes of fame and it will pay you more money in the long run.

  6. Just a word of caution before you go loading up alot of 55 gallon drums on your trailer. You need to check with your state and local officals you are only allowed so much weight on chemical before you have to put placecards on your trailer and have a CDL with hazmat endorsement. I think its 1000 pounds of chemicals and at 8 pounds a gallon on water that is only 125 gallons or just over two 55 gallon drums. Just a thought. Oh ya and dont forget to have your MSDS book with you at all times.:lgwave:

  7. I was washing a house in a historic distict using my X jet and water hit the power lines and sparks flew and smoke went everywere. I stopped and went and got the home owner and showed them all the exposed wires that went all the way from the street to the house. They said every time it rained it looked smokey outside but they didnt know why needless to say we called the power company and they came and replaced the line and the home owners thanked me for finding the problem it sure scared the heck out of me though. The wires had to be 100 yrs old I would guess. Now I always look at the wires very carefully while I am making my bid.

  8. First let me tell you I am a bit bias because I am personal friends with a chemical supplier. I am friends with Steve Rowlett who sells the RPC brand of chemicals which includes the Citra Cleen. I used E specs chems before I met Steve and he showed me (hands on and educated me) on his chemicals and now thats all I will use. They are very concentrated and have never failed me. One other thing is the customer service he gives he uses the chemicals that he sells and if you need to know something you can call him and he will advise you on how to do it. Call E-spec and ask them and see what they tell you. Steve can be reached at 1-800-357-6295 call and just talk to him it wont cost you a dime to ask about his chemicals and he loves to talk about them. Sorry I cant help on other brands I dont use them. I will say this though and it will stir the pot just a bit. If you want to act professional, look professional, and work professional then use professional tools. As a fireman you dont pull up to a house with a garden hose you pull up with a firetruck. As a pressure washer in my opinion you dont pull up to a house with a box of tide or dawn you pull up with a pressure washing rig and you pull out professional chemicals and you use them and you know how to use them. Anybody can own a pressure washer and call themselves pressure washers but in my opinion why use something that the homeowner would have in their kitchen or laundry room. Just my two cents worth:lgsideway

  9. I understand your point now about mixing stronger and using the proportioner. I guess if that is how you like doing it keep doing it that way. My choice for no proportioner is that I can go from one type of cleaning to another type that would take a different mix ratio and mix differently in my bucket instead of changing out a proportioner. For instance I can wash a house and strip a deck both with my X-Jet and mix differntly in my bucket and never slow down. Then I can clean some concrete with a differnt mix in my bucket. I guess you can do the same thing using the same proportioner. I just have all my mixes figured without one. Same general idea just another way of doing it. The thing I dont like about downstreaming is the walk back to the machine to get the little hose out I may be 200' from the machine when I need to pull the hose plus you have all that chem in the high pressure line that you have to clear before you can goto water and you still have to change that nozzle out. I use my X-Jet 100% of the time for applying chems be it long range with it open or close up with the close range nozzle. Just for refferance Im not arguing just having a conversation and showing how I do it. If someone finds something that works keep doing it. It's no secret that myself and Steve Rowlett are very close friends and that all my knowledge on chemicals came from him. Thats the way I was taught and thats the way I do it.

  10. I'm ok with the mix ratios. It's just the no proportioner (i.e. lots of solution) that I don't like. Wide open, you're looking at 2-3 buckets (10-15 gal) per house.

With a 15:1 proportioner I make one 5 gal bucket of 12% and use about 1/2-2/3 of a bucket per house.

I havent been on in a while but here is the reason for the open proportioner for me. Time is money the faster I can get chems on the surface the faster I can clean it the faster I get paid. From pull up to leave on a 2500 sq ft house is about 1.5 hrs for me. The extra chems pay for themselves in time savings which equals more money in your pocket. We have a lot of mobile homes around here double wides with vinyl siding from pull up to drive off less than an hour for around $130.00. If I were to downstream or use the proportioners I could not do it in that amount of time. When I pull up I mix my chems in five gallon buckets and place them around the house then when I get to where Im going they are already there so its a smooth motion and you never have to walk back and forth or cut the machine off. I hope this helps from my perspective.

My Mix in a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 gallon Citra Cleen = $2.72 a gallon = $1.36 per bucket 1 gallon 10.5% sodium hypochlorite =$0.90 a gallon a dash of wet wax = $0.30 a dash of rinse aid = $0.25 a dash of foamer for the cling time = $0.40. Less than $3.21 a bucket x 3 buckets on a mobile home = $9.63 worth of chems and I gross $130.00 I dont see it as wasting I see it as time management and making over $100.00 hr to boot.

  11. I use 1/2 gallon of Steve's citracleen 1 to 1 1/2 gallons of 12% and a few ounces of Steve's wet wax, foamer, and rinse aid and the rest of the bucket full of water. I x-jet with no proportioner, I do a good sized house in a couple hours. I love the way this mix makes the vinyl have a luster to it and windows don't spot.

I use to use Eplus but changed to the Steves citracleen and the mix above there really is no comparison in the two the citracleen works better for me.

  12. I've been using a 15:1 proportioner and mixing my local chems 4gal bleach to 1 gal chems. Works good, but I'd like a better performing "soap". Hence, I'm strongly considering a to change to citracleen. Now for my problem, most recipes I've seen for Citracleen call for 1/2-1 gal CC to 1 gal bleach. That will whack my ratios pretty bad and cause me to back to no proportioner. I really don't want to do that because a 15gal bucket stinks to lug about.

Can I mix the citracleen mix kit into 1/2-1/4 the water and use it in 1/4 the recommended amount? If not, any comments as to why that might assist my quest for lighter buckets?

You mix 1/2 gallon of CC and 1 gallon of 10.5% sodium hypochlorite in a 5 gallon bucket and finish filling the bucket up with water then X-Jet with no proportioners. That is the recommended mix you can change it up to meet your needs but it has always worked fine for me.

  13. This house that he is washing is just across the street form where I live so I just decided to take it from my window.

Man thats like a slap in the face when your neighbors get someone else to do the job. I wouldnt touch that house after that no matter what he is paying. Price wars will always be around as long as there is competion. Myself as a consumer when I am getting something done like septic or something I will call a couple of contractors to get bids and I always pick the middle bid not the highest and not the lowest. Thats just business.

  14. Update, Shelby went to therapy this morning and they said she was doing great. They said it would be a long road to recovery but that she could do that on an outpatient basis and (get this) she could go HOME. Yep Shelby is at HOME tonight sleeping on our couch which is very close to our bedroom but still at HOME. We got HOME around 8:00 pm tonight and she made us stop by Sonic on the way home so she could get French Fries with Cheese and a Strawberry Milkshake. Thank you everyone for praying for her and continue to remember her in your prayers. This is the end of this chapter in her book but not the end of her Story. Praise GOD:lgangel:
