  1. Stripping/Sealing paver Driveway

That looks GREAT! Now I hope you found out who did the pavers and am all over him to get more work.
  2. Don't post many pics, but here is a Cumaru deck we did today with before & after pics. The deck was stripped with HD80, brightened & stained with WTW brown sugar. All this action took place between 9am & 1:30pm. Great day for the business. Got two Jatoba deck's and 2 Ipe's next week. These hardwoods rock.
  3. My bid made customer faint

I can understand, but now, I say this is my quote ( via mail ). End of story. I could go on & on, but that is the bottom line. Move on. Too many customers, not enough time.
  4. Cumaru Deck

Thanks Celeste, but the homeowner was not that excited about the builder. Should I say a few problems. He was happy about the outcome.
  5. Deck Prep

I like the brush myself. However, this is how I approach the behr jobs. Did 2 of these last week. Sweet, don't have to worry about the fuzzies.
  6. I just have to show off.....

What can I say/add to what Jarrod said. ONLY, people like your daughter make this the greatest country in the world. PERIOD.
  7. Ha Ha. This little girl had her home:) Inside was a kitchen, complete with plates and glasses. Sofa also. The planter box was cleaned out for me to stain. This was an add on to the fence and deck. After she thanked me, I would have done the job for free.
  8. OK. I'll help out. Tell me EXACTLY what you want done. New Ipe or old (restore). Explain what procedure to do with exact mix ratio's. I'll post before & after pics and we'll follow the demo.
  9. Here are a few pics from one of the Ipe decks I did. This is really 4 decks. All stained with WTW. Ceilings are Cypress. Supports are PTP wrapped with Cedar. No more posts for a while. Spring is here and the phone won't stop ringing. Those in the north, hang in there. It is about to hit. Everyone have a great year. I'll post any neat decks I have coming up.
  10. I don't know how the pics look on the internet, but here is an Ipe deck with the WTW red cedar with the honeygold floor. The cedar really matched the Ipe.
  11. WTW Ipe Red Cedar

Rod, I think the pic isn't coming across very well. The trim piece is about 1" high. If I could post a higher resolution pic, I think it would better show what is going on. If it looks like there is stain on the brick, I can tell you that is not the case. The guys hand brush up close to the house. If I could take better pics, I could leave the woderful world of staining :)
  12. WTW Ipe Red Cedar

Sorry, no over spray. Don't spray within 1 foot of a home. I think everyone konws that you cut in with a brush. What you may be seeing is the 1.5" border piece that is added as a trim piece and stained. Like my email says. I work only with Ironwoods and Beth is exactly right. It is a trademarked name.
  13. WTW Ipe Red Cedar

Yes that is WHG on the floor. Also remember Ken 95% of my Ipe is Ironwoods. Not all Ipe is the same;)
  14. Here is another nice job of a cedar wrap and and Ipe floor just completed. Pic 1 shows the overall deck. Pic 2 shows a cleaned and brightened side of Ironwoods while we have just applied the WTW and are wiping it down. All brushed & wiped. I'm so fortunate to be involved with such killer decks. I do this day after day.
  15. Help with a deck

Freshlook, Come on down to Atlanta. I can show you decks everyday. This is one from the other day. Cedar wrap posts, Ipe floor and Cypress ceiling and front wall. All with what? You guessed it WTW.
  16. These pics show how we approach doing porch ceilings. Everything is made into an almost plastic room - ala shaneaplastica. The oak cabinet was finished last with a golden oak color. Pics are not great, but shows the project. Cleaning and removing screens was about 2 hours. All the rest was done in 1 day.
  17. Another WTW Job

Shane, I agree. What would I do without my guys. 2 guys, 10 hours each. Sooo, 20 man hours into this job. I did have almost 1 1/2hrs into this job myself. The problem is we are trying to hir 2 more crews.
  18. Another WTW Job

Man Ken, you got it. Those are 10"*10"'s. All the posts are around 350 sq ft. for all. Don't have the exact number in front of me. Stay tuned for some brazilian cherry decks coming up.
  19. Hi Rich, I’ll give you my .02. Do you use their products now? Do the products work and you are satisfied with the performance of the product line? Does the manufacturer fit in with your business model? Why are you not getting the referrals vs them? I understand marketing but ??? To me these are the key points. I think there are bigger questions to be answered. If a manufacturer is going to give you work – Great. Remember, your name is on the bottom line. Your selling your services based upon what you can deliver to the customer. People call you based upon your professional work. I always test new stains. If the next best product comes a long after testing, I’m willing to give it a try. Testing on a deck is a no-no in my book. After all I said, getting to eat everyday is also very important. Give me a call anytime. Hope this helps.
  20. Cambrea wood

Lenny, I have done my share fare on Cambara wood. Cambara is for those who don't want to upgrade to the Ipe. Where as Ipe does not the stain, Cambara needs the stain just like PTP. Please tell me the results you are looking for & I can better answer your question. How long has the Cabots been down. What is you maintenance cycle? How long do want the finish to last? etc. Attached is a before & after pic of a Cambara deck.
  21. Here are some 15 year old cedar battons that have only been treated once with an unkown stain. Stripped with HD80 and brightened with efc38. The homeowner was very happy. I was very pleased at the outcome myself. Stain will go on in a couple of weeks.
  22. Wood Tux

I didn't say nor would I say that my business model would work for someone else. it problably would not. We all are different. A good thing. For example, I have customers ask if I can wash the house. 90% of the time I tell them no. If I do say yes, they pay me very well. I just don't want to wash houses, driveways or gutters. I deal with wood and have decks lined up. It sounds liked your business works very well with what you do. Let us all be successful with what works for each of us.
  23. Wood Tux

Dan In every major market that I've studied, there is more wood in need of restoration or preservation than there are qualified wood restoration contractors. In other words, the demand exceeds the supply. In every market, there are those customers seeking quality. Wood-Tux does last longer and cut down on the required maintenance. Rather than yearly maintenance, it only requires attention every two to three years. The maintenance is extremely easy, and much faster than other products that require you to strip the entire surface each time you return for maintenance. When you are selling to customers based on quality, you will do fewer jobs for more money. Because you don't have to go back every year for maintenance you can schedule more new work at your premium. The customers who demand quality aren't going to forget you in 3 or 4 years. They will remember you and appreciate that you delivered the quality they desired. Russell, stop it. Am I stealing your business model or are you stealing mine?!. The demand vs supply in the Atlanta market is untouched. The above quote here is 100% right on. To all, Russell has hit the nail on the head.
  24. Here are 3 photos of WTW on one of my latest projects. Notice how the sun can play a big role in how the deck is seen - Sun up vs sun down. This is my "standard" color of WTW. The cedar color is the same as that was applied to the cypress ceiling. The floor and steps are Ipe. This is all PTP covered with cedar.
  25. WTW Job

Hey Shane, I need to call you. I've got 2 Ipe docks over water to do. I'm thinking about the oil booms. You are the expert over water, so I figure you can give me some pointers.
