  1. Hey Jon, I think Beth nailed it. It is money and looks. Hey I did a deck today that the couple have a rental home in NC. I believe Brisson City (sp ??). Let me know if you are near there. They need the deck cleaned and stained. They wanted me to go up there and do it. I passed. Too much work here. Great and wonderful people. Let me know. Paul Dinos Pro Clean Specialists, Inc
  2. As I hate typing, here goes: Jeremy. call me - I got your PM. We could knock this deck out. All you guys are right. I could not run my business without my guys. They are 100% of my business. It took me 2 years to find the 1st right crew. Shane is right on. The debate of spraying vs brushing is a real debate. Prep to spray vs brush. The debate will go on & on. I believe that brush saves times. Another debate. Paul Dinos
  3. Rick, 2. I don't know what I would do without them. Yes I do, Save a lot of money - but worth every penny Paul
  4. Alright Rick, you put forth the challange. Here are 2 deck we did this year. All brushed, less than 1 day each. Don't touch my guys, they are the best. Shane had better look out, I'm coming. I've got this picture thing down. Paul Dinos, Pro Clean Specialists, Inc
  5. I’ll jump in here. This has too many angles for a newbie. I would be happy to help you out if you are not too far from Atlanta. You are correct, they are not going to spend 12K on their deck, IMHO. Do not put down clear. I’m not trying to take business away from you, but maybe we could hook up. Believe me, I don’t need the business, but love to share what others have taught me to pass on to you. I’m being 100% honest – Bring someone inn to this project who knows what they are doing. You will make money and the customer will be happy. Your business will grow. Private email me with phone number and we can talk or go your own route, but I can offer all the help you need, even if you want to come to Atlanta and see how we stain decks. My guys could knock that out that deck in 2 days with brushing everything. Paul Dinos Pro Clean Specialists, Inc
  6. OK. I think I have this posting pictures figured out. Celeste stand by :) . All Ipe including posts. Cedar below. Ipe fascia on sides. Don't want to bore everyone with my deck pics, so I'll keep them to a min. Paul Dinos Pro Clean Specialists
  7. Since I do so many decks each week. I thought maybe I'll post some of the more neat ones. Did this one today. Upper deck floor Ipe. Lower deck floor Cambara. Glass kneeboard on upper to over see little stream and woods. Cedar posts. All with WTW. Paul, Pro Clean Specialists
  8. Kinda cool deck

Thanks Celeste. Jon, I don't even want to start a debate on stains. Everyone has their favorite. I have tested and stained decks to what is my satisfaction and what I believe the customer expects. I'll pick on Penofin. One example is Penofin for hardwoods. In my tests, I could get no longer than 6 months in testing. Field applications on decks were never better than that - some field applications on decks didn't last 3 months. Been there- done that. My advice. Do your testing with all stains to see what works best for you and your customers. BTW. WTW rocks. Too many decks, not enough time. Paul Pro Clean Specialists
  9. Kinda cool deck

Thanks Ken. I still don't get it. I see no picture on my end. This whole posting pictures is driving my crazy. Paul
  10. Those costs are right on in the Southeast. Depending on which exotics, the costs go up. Ipe (ironwoods)being the highest, double that number per square foot. But always remember quality is a consideration. Just like pressure washing, you can always find someone to "pressure wash any house for $99." A good deck builder - - Those numbers are good in season. Paul Dinos Pro Clean Specialists
  11. Be carefull. Iron Woods is a trade mark for IPE coming from Cecco. If the IPE doesn't have the green label it is not Iron Woods. Paul Dinos Pro Clean
  12. Man, Celeste, I never thought of that. I have the Coress and never thought of using it as a stain sprayer. If I may, I'd like to give you a call to find out the details on making this work. I have used it for pressure washing wood up high, but never staining. Paul Dinos Pro Clean
  13. OK. Maybe this old man can be taught some new tricks. Ipe deck, cypress and cedar below. Paul, Pro Clean
  14. Man, I'm trying. Paul
  15. I guess I'm getting my wings. An upper and lower deck Ipe on the same house near a lake. The boathouse was also Ipe. Man, I hope this works. Paul. Pro Clean
  16. I'm about to give up on posting on these boards - but here goes again. Ipe (ironwoods) on an iron staircase from 2 weeks ago. I hope it turns out. If not maybe this old guy can figure out how to attach a thumbnail. I have many hardwood pictures if needed. Like Shane - what winter. Spring is busting at the seams. If the picture doesn't show, let me know and I'll email it to someone who knows how to do it. Paul Pao Clean
  17. Referrals

"If deck is being built and say it takes four weeks to build. Some of the wood has been exposed to the weather for four weeks and some for a week. The one that has been exposed for a week takes less oil." What - 4 weeks to build a deck:lgsideway . These crews can crank out a 27*15 Ipe (ironwoods to be exact) deck 1 story up, Ipe handrails with Ipe treads on the iron staircase in 1 week or less. Are you not pretreating the wood before it is exposed to the sun? We are. Is the deck builder not putting the deck flooring on last? If supports and handrail are up, flooring should only take a day or two. I don't want to get into the logistics of how decks are built, I deal with them everyday. I would love to see your deck builder and how he approaches building decks and then see how you apply you final stain. I would also be curious, no nevermind, no time to go there. Paul

Adrian, "Neck of the woods" We are right next door. I'm in Marietta everyday. I've got many jobs lined up if you want to see. Cleaning & staining composites, hardwoods, & PTP. Look out for the Siberian Larch that is about to explod on the wood industry. Will be staining some decks soon with this wood. Give me a call. Spring is booked up solid. James, Confused by your comments. All Ipe is stored under cover. All applied "new" But coming from Brazil who knows how old it is. Use cleaners to clean the wood, pressure wash and then stain. I am afraid to tell you the stain as the arrows will start to fly. I can say that I have tried Readyseal, Cabots, & WTW on Ipe. I'm sure your results will support my conclusion:). Paul Pro Clean

Guess I'm a spoiled rotten kid :) 90% of my decks are new. And I mean new. We'll be washing an Ipe deck tomorrow that the crew finished today. Knocked out 2 decks today that are less than 2 weeks old. Once you only do new decks, you'll never go back. :lgsideway Paul Pro Clean Specialists
  20. Atlanta, GA Help wanted

It says I can post Pics but they don't show up. Don't know. Oh well. Paul
  21. Atlanta, GA Help wanted

The first pic is the one we did today. Ipe The second pic is the small Cambara to do later this week. Paul
  22. Atlanta, GA Help wanted

Adrian, Thanks. We are doing a Cambara deck this week. The cleaning will be tomorrow 8/23/05 and the staining either Wed. or Thurs. I'll give you a call to see if you would like to see the deck. I will be using the Deckster on this job for the floor --while the guys are hand brushing the rails. Paul
  23. Atlanta, GA Help wanted

OK. This is the short story. Since I don't post much, but read a lot, here is what I saw about the job. I went and had a look see. I made my offer with 2 guys every day. Does everyone want to guess the cost PSF? Rather than everyone guessing, I'll tell you that unless you really want the job, plan on somewhere between .00 and .01 PSF. I moved on and finished a nice IPE deck today. Paul
  24. Celeste, Sounds funny. That is my wife's name. I called Roger. Get my cell number if you want to talk to me. I have done at least 50 Cox KD decks (min 1000sf) in the past 12 months. They have issues now. If you would like some samples, no problem. The wood is soooo light. The switch from CCA is causing problems. Right now my deck builder has dropped the line until they can "fix" the problem. They say they have no problem. They do have a problem. Paul
  25. Hi Beth, I'm doing 3 Ipe decks in July. All are maintenance. I am within 10 miles of that area code. Give me call if you want to discuss it more. If you don't have my contact info, let me know. Paul Pro Clean Specialists, Inc.
