  1. Hey I stumbled across a company in Cinci Ohio that has stolen a good chunk of content from my website.

My site has been up for about 2.5 years with the following text on my about us page:

    About Us

I used CopyScape and found this guy here:

    .::. Deck Works USA .::.

I spoke with the owner who said he would change it a while back, and I followed up with an email to the owner and his web design company with still no changes. What pisses me off is that he took it word for word and simply changed the company name and even replaced my name with his

What kind of options do I have in trying to get him to remove the content? Other than being highly dishonest I don't know if there is anything being broken here. Anyone have problems with web content or photo theft in the past? What'd you do?

Contact the company that hosts his website, 99 times out of 100 they take his website down if it has stolen material on it. I have had this issue before with designing websites and logo's.

I ran a whois of the domain name and it looks like he has protected his personal identity. However, his the company that hosts his website has their contact information.

I would also in the future embed your images in a flash movie, as most casual users will not know how to permanently save the flash movie or extract an image from it.

You can also "watermark" your images, just don't be too obtrusive about it, potential customers and viewers like myself get turned off by big bold watermark on images ;)

  2. Hello all,

Last fall I hired someone to stripe, clean, brighten and stain my fence with Olympic Max (the green lable). I had a few people from this board tell me it was a good product to use, and liked the color brown Olympic offered as well.

I want to stain it again because I would like the color a little darker and also would like to make the shade of brown a little more uniform. The sun hits my fence in certain areas and it is lighter than the areas where the sun does not hit the fence as much or any at all.

So my question is this, can I clean the fence (wash off the dirt) with some low pressure water (ie: water hose) and apply the stain again? Or am I subject to the stripping, cleaning, brightening process again?

    Matt

  3. For tha price you can get a whole lot better machine.A belt drive unit probably 3000 at 4 gal for that price. My guess. But the price is to high for a direct drive. If your will ing to spend 1100.00 you should go buy a new one, belt drive.

I am not willing to spend $1,100 for a pressure washer. That's why I asked you pros over here before I made an offer to him :) I didn't want to insult him with my low ball offer if it was worth the asking price, which apparently it is not.

I'll keep looking around, I think I may just hold off on doing my fence until the springtime now. It's starting to get a bit too cool in my area to stain a fence anyhow.

  4. I already spoke with him once about his price. I told him that if he wants to come down on the price I would consider buying it, since I am a homeowner and this isn't for my business.

Although I would like to have a nice machine to do the jobs needed around my house. Fence, driveway, house etc......

Got any recommendations for a homeowner in need of a pressure washer??

  5. I found this online and was wondering if this is a good price for this setup? He is asking $1100.

MI-T-M brand model#CA-3504-OMHB 3500 PSI pressure washer. It has a Honda GX390 13.0 hp engine, with a direct drive triplex ANNOVI REVERBERI pump with ceramic plungers. It operates at 3.3 GPM. Included is a 50 foot hose,a chemical injector,a soap nozzle, and a additional longer wand with adjustable handle. There are also a 0,15,and 25 degree nozzles. It was used for 5 hours. It is in like new condition.

  6. Hello all,

I have been lurking around the forums for a week or so trying to absorb as much information as I can about how to proceed with my fence.

I have hired a pro to clean and pressure wash my fence. And now it's time for me to stain it. I have read the reviews on how much most of you adore the Wood Tux Wet and a few reviews on the Armstrong-Clark as well.

Do you guys recommend using a product I thought about using as well called cabot australian timber oil?

Yes I did a search, but didn't come up with many pro's and con's as of late. Just some threads from a few years back.

Can anyone give me some pros and cons to using this Cabot's Timber Oil?
