Quad for snow removal?
Don EMS replied to Jeffrey Abrams's topic in Snow Plowing, Deicing and Holiday Lighting
Why are you thinking of useing a quad for doing residential snow plowing? Thay work OK for apartment complex's on there side walks and such but for driveways their not effecent enought. We 're adding a 76 CJ5 with a 6.5ft Western to our list. Short wheelbase and smaller blade will make easy work of driveways and tight places. Good luck -
If you would please I know mine could be better. Thanks donald.moore@championair.com

Need help with estimate
Don EMS replied to Palmetto Home and Deck's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I would quote them everything from removing all the old paint, cleaning, prep and repainting. Sounds like a BIG job 6,900 LF. I hope thay know its not going to be cheap. Are you looking at doing both sides? Good luck -
Matt, I thought you had some one else helping you. Its nice to have a clean freak helping. So a total of around 16 to 18 man hours. Good job, a few more contracts like that and you'll be set. We'll do a little over 200 this year, going for 300 next year and stop there. Have you tryed selling exterior washing with the interior cleaning also. Good luck
-
That I would like to see. Can you brake down the time spent on each for me to see what I'm doing wrong. Just the 4 exterior cleans I would think would take at LEAST 6hrs. Also how large are these home's, it take's me 3 hours to do the exterior/garage floor/driveway at a new construction, and 2 people in the interior 6hours. Our house's avarage 2000sf 2 storys not including basements. We are talking new construction here right? Because $1000 sounds way low for 2 full interiors, 2 touch ups and 4 house washes.

Jesse, I have been to lawnsite, but spend alot of time from NOV-MAR at plowsite.com I do remember seeing your name around one of those site's last year. Your right there is some good marketing advice out there at other sites and I feel that there's allwas something else out that we can use to help our business grow. Start with PWing, then windows, snowplowing, lawncare, Rolloffs, the list is endles, so why limit yourself. Thats where I picked up listing our equipment, I think its cool to compair and to see what else everyone else is useing. I wish other's would do the same. Some might think its an ego thing but its not that at all.

Mike, thanks for pointing out that spelling error. We have 6 new pieces that have not been added to the site yet. There is a HUGH demand for party rental equipment everywhere from $120 b-day partys to $10,000 Corp.partys. We started in 2000 with 4 inflatables and have grown to the 2nd largest in Minnesota. Key is to be a one stop shop. ( we still have a ways to go ) Thanks for the heads up on the website.

Running 2 business's and working a full time job for the last 4yrs. I'm lucky enough to have a partner ( brother and sister-n-law ) and a wife that supports me all the way. I'll work full time till next march ( as an aircraft inspector ) and then run the biz's full time. 6mo. left on the dump and everything will be paid off. Its been a pain in the @ss and a ton of work but its starting to pay off. I'm 36 now and looking for an early retirement. ( 10 yrs max ) This is our other business. www.getinflated.com If you think PWing spendy you dont even what to know about this stuff.

Mike, like I said tips are for a job well done. There's nothing wrong with receiving a tip. I've just never liked accepting tips. When offered I tell them I would rather add it to twards their next service. I've never had problem with this yet.

Alan, I'm thinking it means Kohler, Belt Drive, Overhead valve, Engine (KBOE) but dont quote me on that. Where it in So.Cali you at? I was raised in Tucson Az. and used to spend a lot of time in Yuma, So.CA and Mexico. Last year I was down in San Diego I had to drive to Vegas to get out because the fires closed the airport ( smoke ) Talk about traffic.

I would hope if he was over paid he would have said something. I'm sure he knew what the final bill was, and discused it with the home owner. Tips are for a job well done. ( if you accept them )

Trust them. If thay say there happy then what else do you have to go on. I think I would have cleaned up around around the pots and mabey extened the dwell time on the mold. Souunds like you did a good jod if you got a tip

You mostly do homes but you dont know what equipment you need? What are you useing now? Hose and brush.
-
200' 3/4" Tanks are nice to have, if theres not water close or the gpm are low. what do you think you need?
-
Empire, what size house's are you cleaning in 6-8 hours? Are you working alone or with 2 other people? There's no way 1 person can clean a house in 6 hours, mabey if it was 1000 sq ft, and at $600 your making a killing for just the inside.

DI water or soft water. Not shure how clean thay will be with out scrubing them but thay will be spot free. Taking the screens off is the only real way of getting them clean. Or if you dont want the liability then dont offer windows with your service.

We do total interior/exterior cleaning including windows and garage floor for a $1000, anything over 2000 sf we add .40 per sf. Basements extra and brick is extra if extra time is needed for cleaning tags and morter. 3 people takes about 6hrs from when we pull up to when we leave ( 2000 sf house) We also pick up around the property and get rid of any left over materals. We also do roll offs at $300 for a 15yrd. Broken down its $400 for the interior, $400 for the exterior and $200 to pick up around the property. Avarge house is between 1600 and 2000 sf. Hope this helps.
