  1. I was under the impression RS was wet on wet, but I would never want to force anything?
  2. Redwood?

my #10 nozzle still leaves me at over 1000 psi; need to get #11 I guess. I tried the M-5 xjet and the cleaning went pretty fast; to rinse it was great.
  3. Total sq. ft. (including rails and step) = 1150 strip, neutralize, cover to dry, sand rails, set nails, 2 coats RS Price = $2300-2600 Is that out of the ballpark or is that buying it? This would be for Bergen County, NJ (10 min. from NYC).
  4. Redwood?

About procedures: I used pump up to appy EFC and Citralic; that takes a lot of time. Washed with my M-5...puts out 500 psi and I thought worked perfect. Anyone else wash with the M-5?
  5. Thanks Dale, About reapplying it in later years....Does it have to be stripped (HD-80) or cleaned (EFC-38) if the same color is going on? For some reason I am getting decks, something I did not want to do....but it might be what pays.
  6. Redwood?

Washed that Redwood deck today. Went through some dramatic color changes. I will try to up load pics now.... Should be the start, during, and end (still drying). Owner, a family frined, will seal with Cabot's Clear Pacific Redwood; will try to get final pics later.
  7. I have a certificate of formation for my LLC...any connection. I had a lawer do all the paper work for me so I don't think anyone can take my name as the name I got was my backup name. They had to do a check of all other companies in NJ, I then had to register with the state. Everett, where are you in NJ and what are you getting per sq. ft. for your decks when you have to strip/stain. I am in Bergen county.
  8. Everett, I have not heard of a certificate of true name. What is it and how do you get one?
  9. Redwood?

Gavin, Do you have a name on that stain? Is it also a sealer? That is a nice red color. Thanks.
  10. Redwood?

Thanks Beth, Another question, what to do about bad green mildew on wood where EFC-38 has not worked. Some bleach or HD-80? I always keep the deck wet while/until I neutralize, will the citralic bring out the red in the redwood? The deck I am going to do is a friend of the family 25 yrs. and want it to come out nice. I think in the past he has used a lot of pressure on the wood, I saw some ridges when I looked at it. This is why I think he has gotten his deck so red. Will these cleanning procedures bring out that same red? Do you have a dwell time for the citralic? Thanks.
  11. PressurePro, Can I have an est. per sq. ft. that you would charge just to strip a deck...say 800 sq. ft. that includes the rails. Thanks.
  12. Anyone have some suggestions for general brick cleaning? There are many homes by me that have the fronts or first level done in brick. There seems to be some mildew and also some of the white paint from the aluminum fascia and shutters. Will just water remove it or should I use some EFC-38? I know not to go to heavy on the pressure due to the types of brick out there. Thanks.
  13. Paul, I you get this I just want to say you have some very informative posts, thank you. A question you may be able to answer is if HD 80 will kill mold? Thought I read that it would not on a previous thread. Thanks.
  14. Hey Steve, Just as an off topic question what is the average house worth and what are taxes on that house; no modile homes in my neck of the woods? Anyone else care to comment on my est. prices above, please?
  15. The deck that I need to strip is est. to be 1150 sq ft., that includes the rails. If I just strip it at .70 sq ft that will be $800 just for the stripping; then another $1000 for the staining (my father would be doing that)? Is that about right?
  16. Mildew?

I cleaned some wood, PT runs & Pine risers, steps on my father's other house yesterday with EFC-38. It worked pretty well except for some green mildew stains that would not come out. I let it dwell for half an hour and kept it wet by adding more chem. I also rinsed and reapplied...nothing. I did also brighten with citralic. What will take out the stains? A little bleach in the mix? Thanks.
  17. Does anyone have a reward for a referrals system? I was thinking that for someone I have done work for I would offer a kickback of say $25 for each job landed over $300. That would mean that could end up paying for the work they had done. Thoughts? *My father hated the idea and I thought it was better than a coupon...I hate the coupon idea.
  18. Beth or Rod What colors of Wood Tux are people using on PT decks; the most popular and best looking? Thanks.
  19. Brick Cleaning?

That's cool Dale, I hope you have a good time. That will give a chance to help get my father's 2 family house in shape. Can we pencil something in for the last week in June? Steve
  20. any examples of some common ones Russ?
  21. I think that all products that clean gutters well have some sodium hydroxide in them...right? The main ingredient in HD-80?
  22. Brick Cleaning?

Thanks Dale, I am using Steve's Citricleen 1/2 gal, 1 gal of 10-12 liquid shock, and a foamer from Hotsy. This mix will remove the white aluminum paint from the brick? Also, will it remove any of the Calcium/Lime deposits? Can you use a turbo nozzle on hard brick? I am thinking of trying to set a trip down to see you next week. I have some things to get inline this week and do not see the time being available. Do also use the HD-80? Steve
  23. What does miracle wiz do?
  24. NASA Power Washes Space Shuttle

Just a little point I'd like to make. I went to Clemson University for my undergrad and their Ceramics Lab worked on creating the tiles for the shuttle. I toured the lab and saw the tiles and also got to hold them. They are very strong but also very brittle. My question is why do they need so much pressure?
  25. HD-80 safety and protection

Just read this thread and I am thinking of ordering some HD-80. But how do you protect the plants, house, and anything else that may get sprayed and if sprayed what do you do? Anyone have a price difference between cleaning a deck with EFC-38 and stripping with HD-80? Thanks
