I had recently purchased some Sil-O-Wet from Espec. Says it will stay on a surface for 24-36 months and retards the growth of mildew. Has anyone tried this stuff on roofs? Steve

I used my M-5 X-jet this weekend and did the side of my house just to see how the housewash mix would work; I am new to the biz. While inject my mix I noticed that the X-jet does not shoot as far than when not injecting chems. Anyone know the reason for this or have the same problem? It will shoot about 50 ft with no chems but as soon as you drop the intake in the mix range drop to about half. Thanks for the help/responses, Steve

Thanks for the replies, I have the 3/8 chem line and had thought about the fast and slow liquids combining would effect the range. It just seemed a little short, Oh yeah I also had add a foam agent to the mix...another possible reason. I am going to inject just water and have someone else pull the trigger to check the distance again. Nozzle tip is fine, looks as it should. Thanks for the help. Steve

bleach before paint
svp07 replied to clean streak's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I though the same thing about the precarbs, but I am also interested in where to by the Clorox Outdoor Bleach. I haven't found it anywhere.... -
Ryan, I think you said you were a chem major, right? What else is in chlorine besides the sodium hypochlorite? (I hated chem when I was in school and now here I am trying to figure out all the chem interactions...go figure.) I am also interested in your roof brew; we already discussed the climbing gear...mine is coming later this week i think. I am really conserned about the health of the roof after I leave and using high concentrations of sodium hypochlorite does concern me. By the way how did you get into powerwashing? I think we are about the same age, I'm 26. I am a teacher and starting this up for summer, weekend, and after school work. I was personal training, but there is a lot of nonsense with it. Later, Steve

Thanks Paul, I had read that Clemson had done some research on roof cleaning. I think I will look it up...on a side note Clemson was the best 4 1/2 years of my life so far I graduated from there. Thanks again for the help Paul its appreciated, what companies put out the sodium hypochlorite if you knonw of any. Steve

Thanks for the responces. I thought the dwell time of the EFC-38 would be longer....any chance of adding a small amount of bleach to that mix for the roof wash. I was also going to add a foamer to it to increase the dwell time. Steve

When preping a house to be painted is it suggested to use a rinse aid or will that inhibit the bonding of the paint to the old surface? Also, what are some of you using to wash houses that are to be painted? Anyone use Envirospecs Prepezz? Is there anything else that kills mildew as well as bleach? Thanks, Steve

Thanks guys, I kinda thought that about the bleach. Anyone got anything on rinse aids on using them before a paint job. Steve

Just a question, I am new here and to power washing, but I was wondering how some of you were handling spray through on fences? Are you setting up protection on the other person's property after asking? What if they are not home? Thanks, Steve

Spray Through?
svp07 replied to svp07's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks guys, I like idea of a 2x2x8' and attaching a tarp to it. Then you can move it along and do large sections of fence at a time. Prices on tarps seem pretty good at northertools, anyone got a better site? Thanks again, Steve -
Can anyone direct me to some information about proportioning chemicals? i am a little confused... If it says 4-1, h2o-chem annd then further dilute 25-1 is that 100-1 proportioning? What are some of you using to measure dry chemicals by weight...like when it says add 1 pound of whatever. Thanks for the help.

I was just wondering if I could receive some feed back on some of the chemicals sold by Envirospec; primarily their house, deck, and concrete cleaners. Also, has anyone used their silicone sealers and what would you use to clean a house that is painted but will not be repainted; paint is on asbestos shingles. What gets the white Lime off brick siding? I am starting up a small part time service and looking for some advice, thanks for your comments. Steve

I have to also thank everyone for their posts and previous posts. I am also starting this part-time and this BB is really helping me out. I love the fact there are different sections and I can search the archives for old posts. Thanks, Steve P.S. Great job Beth and Rod and I hope I will be able to contribute someday also. -
Thanks John, I was refering to a solution that said to pre-dilute to 4-1 and then proportion 25-1 through an injector.....does that make it a 100 to 1 dilution. I was just trying to figure this out to make small batches for pump sprayer application. can anyone recommend a scale to use and a place of purchase? Thanks, Steve
