  1. Pssssst!! Guess what?

A little participation, suspense, anticipation, sounds like a proposition to me. I have met Beth before and Rod too but never seen Celeste, hmmmm Is she tall? Is she short? Ah I doubt it is that type of business. I can take a guess but won't. For one reason I love how this thread is going, for two I am not privy to things and for 3 as I said do not know the Southern Belle, only the Northern gal. So ladies dare to carry on :)
  2. Flu Shots

I used to get them every year but have started questioning my doctor if they really work and help or not. I probably will not get them again even though I am getting a bit older. Today's paper said they don't help the elderly that much so what's the real reason they push it? Besides how does anyone truly know what they are giving you? I'm healty, overweight but healthy. Jon
  3. Concerning PWNA

They didnt tell you that they have struck some deals with others in the industry that will increase the membership. Ron what deals? come on speak up since you must know what they are or your quote above would not have been posted. Like many of us have said time will tell whether they did a smart thing or not, whether it grows, stays the same or slowly sinks into Davy Jones locker. I still say we should allow them to do whatever it is they are doing and hope for the best. Who knows many that are none members might end up joining even those that have said NEVER will I join. Only time will tell and I am sure all of you have more important things to do during that telling time period. Don't let it keep you up at night or during the day if you work nights!
  4. Concerning PWNA

Howard one question concerning that SR moment, yours or mine??? Navy guys, hmm, CVA 34 Oriskany signle man. No not me but my best friend was and it was during the embargo of Cuba, he was due out and got frozen in for another year. Celeste by all means encourge her to continue and join, I tried to and passed all the written test and physicals except WHAT DID YOU SAY, everyone turned one way and I did not hear the order so went the other way, they got me good. This truly has been a clean thread and it will continue to be. Just that a few swabbies sort of got it off topic:lgbow: :lgwave: :lgjump: :lgsideway Ok old salts don't start swearing at me now. I almost was one too.
  5. truck license plate

My company name was Oasis Pressure Cleaning so my license reads OPCLEAN. I will be getting rid of it for another one when it comes up for renewal. Hmm, here is a good name for you. B A R R Y. Naw that won't work. Hey how about "dr clean"
  6. Concerning PWNA

Bob I am not privy to anything there, I am assuming they have some sort of plan, if not why go though all the trouble of shutting it down so quickly with very little notice? I have nothing against them and was a member till I had to sell out before surgery on my eye and if not for that would still be a member. I wish them the best of everything in what they are doing, it might be the best thing yet and only time will tell.
  7. Concerning PWNA

Bob Gates says: Bob let's not start digging a grave here for them, could be someone buries them alive then what? They have a plan, an idea so to speak and want to try it. I feel everyone, member and non-member should take a wait and see attitude on it, could be a smart move on their part, could be the death of them. I can remember back in the late 90s how it was without a bbs for them. In fact there were few back then and none set up as we see them today. Delco, granddaddy of them all. Dave's, not even sure it is still around but was down so often I gave up on them. Dan Flynn gets in hot water with Delco and starts his board. Ron gets in hot water with Dan Flynn and starts his board. Beth was planning to start her board and she did so without getting into any hot water. PWNA decides to jump in too and opens up their bbs. I am not sure when Steve and the other board got going as I really don't go the either of them. Nothing personal just to many boards at the time. If there are other boards out there I am not aware of them. Now back to PWNA board, like I said let's allow them to work their plan and see what the outcome is. Many could end up with their foot in their mouth.
  8. (I am the this person nor did I insert or know how to insert those little hearts in the W) I sat in my seat of the Boeing 767 waiting for everyone to hurry and stow their carry-ons and grab a seat so we could start what I was sure to be a long , uneventful flight home. With the huge capacity and slow moving people taking their time to stuff luggage far too big for the overhead and never paying much attention to holding up the growing line behind them, I simply shook my head knowing that this flight was not starting out very well. I was anxious to get home to see my loved ones so I was focused on "my" issues and just felt like standing up and yelling for some of these clowns to get their act together. I knew I couldn't say a word so I just thumbed thru the "Sky Mall" magazine from the seat pocket in front of me. You know it's really getting rough when you resort to the over priced, useless sky mall crap to break the monotony. With everyone finally seated, we just sat there with the cabin door open and no one in any hurry to get us going although we were well past the scheduled take off time. No wonder the airline industry is in trouble I told myself. Just then, the attendant came on the intercom to inform us all that we were being delayed. The entire plane let out a collective groan. She resumed speaking to say "We are holding the aircraft for some very special people who are on their way to the plane and the delay shouldn't be more than 5 minutes. The word came after waiting six times as long as we were promised that "I" was finally going to be on my way home. Why the hoopla over "these" folks? I was expecting some celebrity or sport figure to be the reason for the hold up.........Just get their butts in a seat and lets hit the gas I thought. The attendant came back on the speaker to announce in a loud and excited voice that we were being joined by several U. S. Marines returning home from Iraq!!! Just as they walked on board, the entire plane erupted into applause. The men were a bit taken by surprise by the 340 people cheering for them as they searched for their seats. They were having their hands shook and touched by almost everyone who was within an arm's distance of them as they passed down the aisle. One elderly woman kissed the hand of one of the Marines as he passed by her. The applause, whistles and cheering didn't stop for a long time. When we were finally airborne, "I" was not the only civilian checking his conscience as to the delays in "me" getting home, finding my easy chair, a cold beverage and the remote in my hand. These men had done for all of us and I had been complaining silently about "me" and "my" issues. I took for granted the everyday freedoms I enjoy and the conveniences of the American way of life I took for granted others paid the price for my ability to moan and complain about a few minutes delay to "me" those Heroes going home to their loved ones. I attempted to get my selfish outlook back in order and minutes before we landed I suggested to the attendant that she announce over the speaker a request for everyone to remain in their seats until our hero's were allowed to gather their things and be first off the plane. The cheers and applause continued until the last Marine stepped off and we all rose to go about our too often taken for granted everyday freedoms......... I felt proud of them. I felt it an honor and a privilege to be among the first to welcome them home and say Thank You for a job well done. I vowed that I will never forget that flight nor the lesson learned. I can't say it enough, THANK YOU to those Veterans and active servicemen and women who may read this and a prayer for those who cannot because they are no longer with us. GOD BLESS AMERICA! WELCOME HOME! AND THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE !!!!!
  9. Concerning PWNA

I have an idea but it is not just for PWNA but all BBS and it the registration requirements can be configured right if this information is not included they would not be allowed to register or post. Require the Business name, address, phone number and owner (s) names (s). So many hide behind only stating a city or state that I feel it is time to come out of the closet. Beth can you configure it so if they do not include that info they cannot read or post? Extreme yes but perhaps I have come to a point we are helping our next door competitor to much. Now don't go saying Jon your not in the business anymore so why should you care because I do care. I care about the PWNA too; I wish it truly was larger, had more exposure and that it was recognized nationwide, universally for that matter.
  10. Whats Up with the new look

I still like this new color and set up, sure it might have a bug or two for now till Beth and James work them out but sure is nice. Watch the other boards copy Beth, again.
  11. Which "look" are you using?

Right now I am using SAND and it is so easy on my eyes I probably will stick with it. What PATS? oh them little boys. I rooted for the Eagles and here is what I saw. The winners lost and the losers won. Eagles=WINNERS. Patriots= LOSERS. To bad the Eagles did not win, they really deserved to win. NEXT YEAR!
  12. Which "look" are you using?

Not sure yet, testing Sand and TGI Blue. Will vote in a couple days once I know which I like better as both are nice.
  13. Better Tasting.

Great one, got a good laugh out of it.
  14. Whats Up with the new look

COOL is the word so far. Beth can you make the default font size one size larger. Like number 2?
  15. HOT POLLS- PWI,TCN,TGS & PWNA

  16. thought I would share this cool link

    Now that I like.
  17. Be4 you approach that hottie acrossed the bar...

Another fine can of worms I opened up. I have rather thick skin ok but put yourself in those gals shoes. What if you were a total turn off would you want your picture spread around the world like that? Sure I can and do enjoy jokes and even potty mouth humor at times since I am human. Just have my limits is all. Now can I get some help closing this can before more worms crawl out?
  18. Be4 you approach that hottie acrossed the bar...

Man does that guys family have CLASS. It has to be his family or they would all be beating him till he drops dead. I personally don't think that is in good taste period. ------------ Ok here is the plain truth but many cannot live by this. Beauty is skin deep but what is inside is what counts. Just because someone is not a beauty queen and is just average or homely does not give others the right to pick on them or put them down. Think back to your Jr. & Sr. high school days, did you guys not want the best looking chick around to be YOUR girl and gals did you not what that HUNK of a football player or some other guy to be the one offering you his class ring?
  19. Ladder Safety

Jon Chapman if I were that family I would send the bill back saying wrong family. Then hire an attorney to find out why they failed to contact them while the man was in the hospital. Now what gets me is why the family did not notify the police he was missing all those weeks to start with, goes to show the family could care less that he never came home. Wonder what sort of family they are too. When I was working out there at night my wife would always call around 1 AM to be sure I was ok. She always had a schedule so she knew where I was and where I was going. If I did not answer the cell phone she would try again in about 10 minutes because she knew if I was working I might not be able to answer the phone right away. That was one of our safety nets, keeping in touch and always leaving a schedule of jobs for the night.
  20. Try This

That's because your an OUTLAW and we all know outlaws are not legit! Cute trick, the guy done did my number too!
  21. Bathroom Humor

Oh phew, for a moment I thought you would invite him in!
  22. Dry ice cleaning is not new, saw a demo back in 1999 and although it works ti is very expensive to use, just the cost of dry ice in bulk can run more then the average job using water. There are times and places for it and for the companies that can afford the equipment and dry ice I am sure they do very well.
  23. Frustrated - Venting

To bad the truck is not included as part of that sale, if so I would suggest Lou bid $5000 cash for it but no truck means he has to put out more for one or a trailer and that raises the cost. The reason so many come on the market now is those that for many reasons did not cut it as pressure washers during the summer to carry over to winter are selling out. And other reasons too but that is the common reason. Good buys all over coming up Lou so be ready to bid and tow home your rig (s).
  24. Frustrated - Venting

Lou for $14,000 as others said you can build one heck of a rig and that would include a reclaim system, not a cheap one at that. Those rigs like Alan showed you are cute but my problem with them is there is NO room to carry stuff. What I would do if I had that would be to buy as large a trailer as your truck can tow and build onto it then sell the small trailer or keep it to add a small back up unit for when you are ready to have help. I knew of a almost new rig like that the guy had for 6 month, used way under 100 hours and sold for I believe $5000 or so. Alan knew of this guy also but that was a year ago. Now my personal feelings on anyone selling is they should post pictures with the equipment and asking price. To just list items and/or price is not fair, could be a junker without seeing pictures. Lou another thing unless you know the person or someone that does consider offering to pay the local pressure washing distributor to give it a once over checkup and test, just like if you were buying a second hand car and had your mechanic checking it over first. If the guy has nothing to hide he should be more then willing to tow it to the dealer, DO NOT TOW IT YOURSELF, he could claim you damaged something. IF he refuses I would wonder what it is he has to hide. Now don't let me scare you from a good deal here, just want you to know your options.
  25. Enjoy reading.

When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our neighborhood. I remember the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother talked to it. Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing person. Her name was "Information Please" and there was nothing she did not know. Information Please could supply anyone's number and the correct time. My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my mother was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the basement, I whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain was terrible, but there seemed no point in crying because there was no one home to give sympathy. I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally arriving at the stairway. The telephone! Quickly, I ran for the footstool in the parlor and dragged it to the landing. Climbing up, I unhooked the receiver in the parlor and held it to my ear. "Information, please" I said into the mouthpiece just above my head. A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear. "Information." "I hurt my finger..." I wailed into the phone, the tears came readily enough now that I had an audience. "Isn't your mother home?" came the question. "Nobody's home but me," I blubbered. "Are you bleeding?" the voice asked. "No," I replied. "I hit my finger with the hammer and it hurts." "Can you open the icebox?" she asked. I said I could. "Then chip off a little bit of ice and hold it to your finger," said the voice. After that, I called "Information Please" for everything. I asked her for help with my geography, and she told me where Philadelphia was. She helped me with my math. She told me my pet chipmunk that I had caught in the park just the day before, would eat fruit and nuts. Then, there was the time Petey, our pet canary, died. I called, Information Please," and told her the sad story. She listened, and then said things grown-ups say to soothe a child. But I was not consoled. I asked her, "Why is it that birds should sing so beautifully and bring joy to all families, only to end up as a heap of feathers on the bottom of a cage?" She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, "Wayne always remember that there are other worlds to sing in." Somehow I felt better. Another day I was on the telephone, "Information Please." "Information," said in the now familiar voice. "How do I spell fix?" I asked. All this took place in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. When I was nine years old, we moved across the country to Boston. I missed my friend very much. "Information Please" belonged in that old wooden box back home and I somehow never thought of trying the shiny new phone that sat on the table in the hall. As I grew into my teens, the memories of those childhood conversations never really left me. Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene sense of security I had then. I appreciated now how patient, understanding, and kind she was to have spent her time on a little boy. A few years later, on my way west to college, my plane put down in Seattle. I had about a half-hour or so between planes. I spent 15 minutes or so on the phone with my sister, who lived there now. Then without thinking what I was doing, I dialed my hometown! operator and said, "Information Please." Miraculously, I heard the small, clear voice I knew so well. "Information." I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying, "Could you please tell me how to spell fix?" There was a long pause. Then came the soft spoken answer, "I guess your finger must have healed by now." I laughed, "So it's really you," I said. "I wonder if you have any idea how much you meant to me during that time?" I wonder," she said, "if you know how much your call meant to me. I never had any children and I used to look forward to your calls." I told her how often I had thought of her over the years and I asked if I could call her again when I came back to visit my sister. "Please do", she said. "Just ask for Sally." Three months later I was back in Seattle. A different voice answered, "Information." I asked for Sally. "Are you a friend?" she said. "Yes, a very old friend," I answered. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this," she said. "Sally had been working part-time the last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks ago." Before I could hang up she said, "Wait a minute, did you say your name was Wayne?" "Yes." I answered. "Well, Sally left a message for you. She wrote it down in case you called. Let me read it to you." The note said, "Tell him there are other worlds to sing in. He'll know what I mean." I thanked her and hung up. I knew what Sally meant. Never underestimate the impression you may make on others. Whose life have you touched today? Why not pass this on? I just did.... Lifting you on eagle's wings. May you find the joy and peace you long for. Life is a journey ... NOT a guided tour.
