  1. Bowling Trip

    CUTE one Alan.
  2. Newscrews in GA are such dorks!

Newspeople are paid to gain readership or those watching the news on TV, the more people they can gain the more money that station gets. I would love to see those clowns covering one of their own snowed under or when one of them spins out on ice roads or tries to cross a flooded area that has signs saying CLOSED DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS. That is what many here in CA do when things flood, they are more blind then I am. What really bugs me is when we get a heavy rain all those that have nothing to do just have to find a reason to leave the house and go out causing accidents. Young and old both do it. Hey watch where you turning you dummy, can't you see the NO LEFT TURN sign? HORN BLOWS, they flip you off as if it were are fault.
  3. Vehicle Registration

Join the crowd, CA charges that way too but worst all pickups, even the mini's are classified commercial vehicles and charged as such. Now Oregon charges a flat rate of I believe $35 every two years regardless of if it is a car or motorhome. Not sure about those monster trucks. It is one way states steal our money, keep an older car here in CA and you have to have it smog tested and fixed before you can renew and most of those smog stations always find something to fix even if there is nothing really wrong. I pay around $550 a year right now but it was like close to $700 the first year for my 2002 F250 Super Duty.
  4. Jacksonville here we come !!!!!!!!!!!

Sheesh what is all this ranting about a bunch of big boys grabbing each others balls anyway? Why they call it FOOTBALL, kick em in the balls with your foot while they are down. Run to the goal post, ops he got tackeled, pile up on him, OUCH who in heck kicked me in the balls. I'll get you for that you scum, and it starts over again, chasing the boy with the ball and KICK, OUCH darn you I am going to put my fishing weights in my shoes next time you do that and YOU WILL FEEL IT TOO!. And the fans get drunk screaming, no wonder it is so wild up there.
  5. direct drive

My personal advice is forget the hot box and go with a true hot water system. As for your HD machine sure many start out that way but look at it from the other side, the manager or DM of the accounts you want, they already know what is out there and when they see your machine they might think twice. Not trying to put you down but you need to be prepared to explain when asked is that a professional machine or how long have you been doing this work etc.
  6. Frustrated - Venting

I have said it before and will again here so Lou hears it, those All American/Alkota and Hydro Tek machines on their own small trailers do not leave any room for growth or to add more equipment. Alan can testify to this as he has one. I almost bought my first rig from Hydro Tek but when I tried to figure out where the surface cleaner and vacuum and other stuff would go it was either in the truck or buy a larger trailer and build it myself. You would probably need an enclosed trailer due to weather back there but either open or enclosed buy much larger then you need since in time you will use all that space up. The one thing you need to worry about is what the GVW if your towing vehicle is and is it set up for the size trailer you want? I had a 14 foot tandem 12,000 GVW trailer and wish I had a 16 foot 14,000 as I could have used the extra room. Electric brakes on all 4 axles is better then surge brakes. Heavy duty TRAILER TIRES are a MUST. Don't let them tell you the little 14 inch tires are ok as they are not. Diesel vs. gas, can't speak here as I always buy diesel trucks.
  7. Old Tools

Go to Ebay and check out stuff like that for some idea of worth. Also there are collectors groups for everything so do research on old tools etc. It could be worth more then you think to the right people IF your intention is to sell it.
  8. P.O. Box or Not?

I use the PO Box for ALL MAIL, not just business mail, all bills go there too and my drivers license list only the PO Box as do our checks. The law has changed thanks to Homeland security, now your drivers license must show your full name and physical address. I refuse to allow that much personal information to be on my license or any papers or computer.
  9. Business entity

WAS going to go LLC this year had not health stepped in the way.
  10. P.O. Box or Not?

I have always had a PO Box even before I was in any business, I like to be left alone and less junk mail. Besides would you want an irate customer pounding on your door at 2 AM? Go with a P.O. Box from the Post Office and not an after market company.
  11. Hey Reed

Reed that looks pretty much like the one I had without the rear bumper. Has a 360° swivel hitch, spare tire and luggage rack like the one your thinking of. Our lid opened from back to front rather then front to back. One word of advice I learned the hard way, to much weight on tongue trailer sways something bad, to much in back and bike sways so pack heavy stuff over axle. And do get a spare tire. Post a picture of bike and trailer once you get it.
  12. New River

We are being flooded here, rain rain rain Sat, Sun. Mon, yesterday day before a little sun. Where is my sunny vacation going come Monday? it is raining in Vegas too. NUTS
  13. Hey Reed

Reed what brand trailer you buying, a Motorvation or Bushtec? I had a Hitco trailer before CycleMate bought them out.For those of you that don't ride and want a look at many different types of trailers made for motorcycles here is a nice web site that links you to many brands. Some are better then others and some look like crap. Bushtec and Motorvation are probably the top two but like anything else it is a personal thing plus how much you can and will spend. Good ones are not cheap. http://www.aerobourne.com/motorcycletrailerindex9.htm
  14. Can someone answer these questions?

    Very interesting, VERY INTERESTING INDEED.
  15. Passing the torch

Gee thanks John Orr, now I won't hear a darn word Beth says, I could read her typing. Beth you will heal faster then you think as long as you don't do what your doc says not to do. Rod needs to keep his eye on you now.
  16. Like Scott said buy a diesel, either Ford or Dodge 3/4. Now there are a few differences, namely the Dodge Cummins gets much better milage but the Ford Super Duty has more get up and go power. I have owned both and both are good, if your concerned about fuel cost go with Dodge and if not either one. Test drive both and if able to rent first.
  17. Getting this off my chest....

Here is my take on this even if I did things differently. You buy what you can afford to start out but more important is do your homework and know what you want to clean and have the proper cleaning poducts plus not only a business plan but a desire to succeed. Remember all of us started out not knowing it all and to be honest we will retire not knowing it all. I do sugguest getting bigger rather then smaller trailer and a hot water system since over time you end up needing both anyway but that is not meant to say you cannot start small and stay small and stil make a good living. Besides those big boys have more headaches.
  18. Scott why only cold water? if you are ever asked to do even one driveway you will wish you bought a hot water rig. I recommend hot water even if most your work is with cold water and not to say I can always add a hot box, that is not the way to do it. My other suggestion is buy a trailer to set up your equipment on and buy BIG so you have room to expand and carry extra equipment and supplies, tool box, water tank etc. The factory trailers for the most part leave no room to expand. Buy the largest GVW your truck can tow. The two rigs that company sells I personally would not want, nothing good or bad to say but the trailers do not impress me, all that wasted room with long tongues. What prices are you being quoted by them? Tried sending Email but you have that function off. One more suggestion on your web page, show your business Email address.
  19. Metric markings so should be easy to convert. Max 170 Bar no idea what this stands for. Max 140 degrees C convert to F and there would be be max temp. Max 16L min convert to pounds and that would be max PSI. I could be wrong since I don't know metric.
  20. How do you destress?

Ryan never allow it to wear off either! GymRat, I done that a few times and still do, guess I will never learn when to keep my mouth shut! Reed allow me to store your bike here during the winter, I promose to change the oil every 3000 miles! John T. no comment as you might make a call to my local peace officers association:) I used to have many outlets, scuba diving, motorcycle riding, 10 speed bike, back packing and winter backpacking in he High Sierra's but now pretty limited in what I am allowed to do so I tend to read more now. I now enjoy spending time with my grandsons but man that makes me feel "older" then I am.
  21. Chemical Burns

When dealing with powder chemicals as I have always wear a mask and not the cheap paper ones. Either a full respriator style or those with charcoal filters made for the types of chemicals your using. One thing all the instructions say is to be clean shaven, no beards but if you snug it up tight enough with a short trimmed beard as I have then it works just fine. I was mixing Zep Flash Split/Light once and got a few drops on my leg, right up the jeans and it burned a bit, more like a nasty itch but I rinsed a few times with soap and all was ok. Best advice anyone can have is read the MSDS papers. And know which chemicals are NOT compatible with others.
  22. Inner Peace

What time and day does the party start, oh wait she already started without us. NOT FAIR Celeste! To all Happy Holidays.
  23. Are you Dreaming of a White Christmas?

CCPC you never seen SNOW, man you need to take a winter vacation up north like in Vermont, Conn. or one of those states. I have lived up in Lake Tahoe long before it became commercialized as it is today. Zepher Cove, NV. This was back in 1957 if my memory serves me right. Below is the current temp. 24. the cold is coming!!!!

What no snow birds here? Does not even one own an RV that takes off to the warmer states for winter. My former neighbors when I lived in Redlands are snow birds, they own the house in Redlands, one in Wyoming and till last sumemer one in Idaho which they sold. They plan to sell the home in Wyoming this coming summer and move permanately to Redlands. We are still deciding where to plant our roots.
  25. Are you Dreaming of a White Christmas?

100's of feet of SUN here, oh wait this is Southern California, sorry Mike. It has been cold and damp in the morning here lately but by 9 or 10 AM the sun pushes it away. Heck if we had rain on Christmas day that would be as close to a "white" Christmas as we could get here.
