  1. Hoax Warning

Dale don't get to close to me when I am doing a corner, I might cause that water to hit you! Empire: As far as I can be from it! And San diego, and West Hollywood too. Who called me an "old fart" again? I'll have you know I am not OLD:) as for the second part of that remark NO COMMENT. KIDS, why does this board allow them here, BETH any reason we allow KIDDs on this board? Everett after seeing those pictures of your vacation buddies I think you do quite well alone. In fact darn well!
  2. Feel like moving

    Retire? NEVER
  3. Hoax Warning

I just love waking up to great replies and laffin, good way to start my day:)
  4. Feel like moving

Hawaii does have PWs, have Emailed back and forth with one a few times but not sure how well he is doing yet as he has not replied to last mail Wife and I have also talked about moving but although I would love to move to Georgia where my best friend moved to we have been looking North, OR and WA. Not sure I would stay in the business or go into something else but I am tired of CA and all that it implies. The higher cost here just gets higher and higher. Now a kicker that I cannot figure out, if OR/WA have lower taxes then CA how come property tax is more then double there compared to here and the houses cost half as much, go figure that one out. Wife does not want to move East or South. Hmm Montana/ Wyoming/Colorado? Ah lovely Colorado, one place we saw I would love to move to called Ouray, little down home town. Hmm, farming, ranching, hiking, snow, so little crime I should shut up now. No need for a PW as there is so little to wash there.

  7. Rewards/Kickbacks?

Point made Henry. Hey Brian do you pay travel time? seeing you don't clean the flat work at those restaurants I have rig, will travel!
  8. Cleaning Copper

You should offer to do an out of the way test area free so both you and the customer can see the results before bidding. And that also gives you an idea of time to do the job. Better then bidding and finding out your under bid or in the end customer says THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANTED and refusing to pay. Those things can happen.
  9. Rewards/Kickbacks?

Just a friendly word of advice, drop "kickback" from your vocabulary as kickbacks are illegal. Henry yes not much, in fact makes you look rather cheap, up the ante to $20 bucks at least.
  10. Hey Tony is that way some end up with false teeth if they stay in this business 15 or 20 years? How many years have YOU been around now! Guys and Gals remember the cost of the Shur Flo depends on which model also, not just the brand name and they do make one heck of a lot of models. I use mine to spray down my chems so have to have one that can handle that stuff.
  11. start out

Now exactly what kind of answer are you looking for, oh I know, I would not start a pressure washing business but find another line that requires less physical work. Now for another answer, I spent 3 month researching this business before jumping in, spent time with another PW, priced everything I felt at that time I would need. Learn which businesses allow local manager to make the call, which require DM or RM, which ones prefer to have facilities manager at corp. level call the shots. There is much much more and if your thinking of going into this business work for someone first and get hands on experience. If your already in it you should have had this as part of your business plan.
  12. police problems

Don't know what city and state your in but you need to do some fast research on those laws. Hopefully you will find a loophole but if not find out if all types of businesses are included or of any are exempt from that law. Find out who, why and when this law went into effect, find out if a city permit would exempt you from being cited. Another thing, does not the police have better things to do then film a pressure washer trying to make a buck? I mean if you did commit a crime it is penny ante and not worth the cost of the cop wasting his time following you around. Like he had nothing better to do with his time. Call your local city rep. and ask for their help in changing this out dated law. Good luck.
  13. Ron your backwards on the time, East Coast is ahead of us, not behind so it would be either 4 or 5 PM your time. Thinking 5 since AZ does not use daylight wasting time, er savings time. I wish it was totally removed, a waste of time to me, just leave mother nature alone when it comes to the clock.
  14. Taxes

TAXES Accounts Receivable Tax Building Permit Tax Capital Gains Tax CDL license Tax Cigarette Tax Corporate Income Tax Court Fines (indirect taxes) Dog License Tax Federal Income Tax Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) Fishing License Tax Food License Tax Fuel permit tax Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon) Hunting License Tax Inheritance Tax Interest expense (tax on the money) Inventory tax IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax) IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) Liquor Tax Local Income Tax Luxury Taxes Marriage License Tax Medicare Tax Property Tax Real Estate Tax Septic Permit Tax Service Charge Taxes Social Security Tax Road Usage Taxes (Truckers) Sales Taxes Recreational Vehicle Tax Road Toll Booth Taxes School Tax State Income Tax State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Telephone federal excise tax Telephone federal universal service fee tax Telephone federal, state and local surcharge taxes Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax Telephone recurring and nonrecurring charges tax Telephone state and local tax Telephone usage charge tax Toll Bridge Taxes Toll Tunnel Taxes Traffic Fines (indirect taxation) Trailer registration tax Utility Taxes Vehicle License Registration Tax Vehicle Sales Tax Watercraft registration Tax Well Permit Tax Workers Compensation Tax COMMENTS: Isn't this amazing? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What the hell happened? This explains the meaning of being TAXED TO DEATH. __________________

  16. I have never used anything but a Shur-Flo for applying my chemicals and always, ALWAYS run several gallons of water though when done. X-Jet for my purpose would be over kill but someday would like to see one in action.
  17. Fun Stuff (some adult....some not)

I sure hope that photographer has film in his camera!
  18. Have you ever spoken and wished that you could take the words back...or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the testimonials of a few people who did.... I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, "How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?" I turned around and walked out and never went back. My husband didn't say a word... he knew better. I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using. After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen who works at the store. He asked if he could help me. Without thinking, I looked at him and said, "I think I like playing with men's balls." My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help. I replied, "No, I'm just looking at your nuts." My sister started to laugh hysterically, the boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget. While in line at the bank one afternoon, my toddler decided to release some pent-up energy and ran amok. I was finally able to grab hold of her after receiving looks of disgust and annoyance from other patrons. I told her that if she did not start behaving "right now" she would be punished. To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening, "If you don't let me go right now, I will tell Grandma that I saw you kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!" The silence was deafening after this enlightening exchange. Even the tellers stopped what they were doing. I mustered up the last of my dignity and walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow. The last thing I heard when the door closed behind me as screams of laughter. Have you ever asked your child a question too many times? My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly. One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch in between errands. It was very busy, with a full dining room. While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny, so of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter, and she was clean. Then I realized that Danny had not asked to go potty in a while, so I asked him if he needed to go, and he said "No." I kept thinking, "Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don't have any clothes with me." Then I said, "Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?" "No," he replied. I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse. Soooooo, I asked one more time, "Danny, did you have an accident?" This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over and spread his cheeks and yelled. "SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!" While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing! He calmly pulled up his pants and sat down. An old couple made me feel better by thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had! This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for two days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any....a true story... We had a female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked: "So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard! Now, didn't that feel good? Pass it on to someone you know who needs a good laugh. DON'T TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY . . .
  19. I noticed that all rating on PW down...

Come on guys and gals remember now Ron is allergic to WORK! He needs to be reminded some of us do get our hands dirty.
  20. Almost a hard lesson learned

Quickie fix, cover with duct tape before washing. Now I know this won't help if you don't see any electrical outlets but for those that see one and it is not protected or weather proofed the tape works. Test a spot first as you might end up pealing paint or part of the house off when removing the tape.
  21. Best post in awhile*******

Ron we expect to see you chime in with more replies too, you are part of the org. and we all know you are able to offer things. SO SPEAK UP RONNIE.

Hey Alan a belated Happy Birthday, hope you did something for YOU and not the kids and wife, after all it is YOUR DAY. Jon
  24. Tar

Diesel fuel, pour a little on and lit it soak though and it will break it up, pressure wash off. Or you can spend hours with a 0° working at it, chipping it away and possibly the concrete too.
