Scott said it all, my grandparents came from Russia, Germany and Hungry and they went though Ellis Island also, I know my last name is true but on my mothers side they were told to shorten it to sound more American and my mother told me the story for years and the last name, I only wish I had written it down as she is long gone now as all others of her generation are. I am outspoken on things but why must we be forced to pay higher taxes, hire special teachers and provide English/Spanish for just one group of people who refuse to learn English yet demand we give them citizenship because they are here illegally? Racist I am not but anyone, any nationality here illegally needs to be shipped back where they came from and apply and wait the years it takes to come here legally. In the meantime they can or should learn English so when they are allowed to come here they know our language. Oh by the way, seeing I am mixed Russian, German, Hungarian does that make me a Commie? There is so many ways this thread could go if we wanted to keep it going, Banks allow the illegals to have accounts, to send money out of the country too, drivers licenses are a piece of cake, walk in, say I don't have no birth cert but my name is such and such and I was born in - - - - and you got a license. They say it is illegal to hire them, why not start with the first person they come in contact with, the person who is going to rent them a place to live? make that illegal too, and no cars, bank accounts, drivers licenses, no jobs, no free education and medical, no baby born here becomes American etc. Build a fence so high and so deep it will make the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall look like Play school toys. Then post 24/7 guards with the order to shot to kill and do it, just like they did in Berlin if you got past the land mines. Oh then stop allowing American Companies to build things in Mexico, do you drive a Dodge Pick up, guess where it was built, yup South of the Border. VW bugs were too till they stopped making them, your Medicine probably comes from there too and heaven knows what else yet there are good things that come from there also. Is it not stated that English is the OFFICIAL language of the USA? Then why in hell are all the cities, counties, states and worst the Feds even publishing, speaking and offiering FREE things to those that NO SPEAKY ENGLISH? If you want to live here then you damn well better speak to me in understandable English. Now try this for size, why is not NOT ILLEGAL to outsource to India for penny's an hour? Your medical records, you bank records, your personal information you provide many businesses and government agencies is all available in India. Celeste I totally agree with you on how born in America kids are considered second place when they speak English. This country has done a major flip flop on it's own people. Before I speak my mind think about this, every country in the world that I am aware of REQUIRES English as a second language but here in the USA you only need to learn a second language if you plan to go to a University. Does that make sense? Now as for other languages, here is what I have been years, long before I was ever in the PW business. You can speak any language you want at HOME but in public speak ENGLISH. Why are we catering to all those that demand we print things in their language, hire people to translate to their language etc. I can't speak for other states but when living in CA the ballots must have been printed in a dozen different languages and that is very costly. here in NM English is the 2nd language, Spanish rules, wonder why, also they think it is perfectly legal for the illegals to vote here regardless of what you read. When Remy and I went to register to vote we were asked to bring proof of being American, when we were there I saw a few speaking Spanish and nothing was asked of them, go figure. My biggest gripe and partly because of my deafness is those stupid automated phone systems, push 1 of English, 2 for Spanish. Get rid of that stuff and speak English period. Now here in NM it is in many cases the other way around, push 1 for Spanish, 2 for English, that blows my mind and speaks loudly where English stands as a language. Do I feel sorry for a slow death like this, HELL NO. These guys and gals have no problem harming others then get attorneys that claim they did not do it or they had no idea of what they were doing etc. I always believed an eye for an eye, arm for arm, life for life. Stop letting murderers, molesters and other low life life the life of a KING in prison, if on death row get it down ASAP, these low life life on average 20 years appealing their sentences and another 10 once the US Highest Court hears their case. Is it right the families should suffer all this time, NO. Should be be supporting them all this time, NO. I don't care what the bible says since they didn't care when they murdered others. Just let them suffer long enough to know how it must have felt to the one (s) they took away. Prison should not be a Kings life, it should be CHAIN GANG, move a mountain, move it back, day in day out, one warm meal a day, two cold meals. Anyone that does not agree has that right but I would love to hear from you when someone in your family dies at the hands of those low life scum. (No one in my family has that I am aware of, nor has any female been raped that I am aware of) Celeste not all teenagers are sent to prison for life, each state has different laws on that subject and different age limits. Most, not all under 18 are minors, some at 17 can be considered adults. Fair, no but life is not fair to us all equally anyway. Beth, Yes many are in prison that should not be, not only on death row but for petty crimes, most are either Black or Mexican, any idea why? how they are brought up, gang families teach other family members to be bad, a life cycle that has got to change. DNA has helped clear some in the last few years but there are thousands more sill behind bars simply because someone claimed it was THEM. Dark night, a 5'10 male wearing a hooded jacket robs the local neighborhood market, gas station or liquor store, eye witness is so damn sure THATS HIM, he's black, he has a hood on, it is HIM. Bingo guy goes to prison, heck it could be the straight A student just going to get some milk for breakfast the next morning. Now how can this eye witness be so sure if he is wearing a hood, he neither saw the face or color of the person, he just did what the police wanted him to do, point to the guy in the car and say YES IT'S HIM. Happens everyday, fair? not at all. So how to change the system yet protect the innocence ones?

When are y'all gonna learn that the only HONEST politician is a dead one. All living ones LIE with a smile and so many people believe them too. Obama, Hillary, and a dozen or so others, mostly Dems are out to remove the little freedom left as Americans, all have forgotten how this country was won. I was thinking more like his whole face! Show me a politician that can speak honestly and not like and has a BRAIN that functions correctly and I will show you his or her grave. Jon one plus is the noise from all the equipment running, pressure washer, burner, generator etc. sounds normal and not LOUD to us. Besides we are not deaf, just hard of hearing so speak up please:) -------------------- As for backing up data I use an external hard drive for all my backups. I don't keep it on or connected but only connect and turn on when backing up.

To answer John T. NO I don't like talking web sites or any of those automated phone systems, push this button, then that button. I consider them very discrimintory against people like myself that are hard of hearing. Worst is when I get phone calls when not home and the person leaving a message talks so fast and sometimes with a soft voice I cannot understand a word said. We live in a world where if you have a disability that does not show and ask someone to repeat something they look at you like your crazy. I always inform others of my hearing problem asking them to speak up but they are deaf and have no clue to what I just said. DUH Ok so I am sounding off but it is true they don't consider hard of hearing people when designing those web sites. Off the stump now.

Warning, beware of Carlos if he is yelling! Couple years ago had the geek squad network our two computers and the laptop, got to talking to the guy about what is required to be one, believe it or not, just basic understanding about computers. No testing, no special education, no nothing and no warranty. The network worked well till we moved here, set everything up and nothing worked, went to local Best Buy and they wanted $200 just to look at it, told him forget it. Someday I will figure out how to network them and do it myself. Carlos glad things worked out for you, even if you had to treat them like they were DEAF.

I skipped most of this thread but two things come to mind. One if you truly want to carry a gun do it legally and get a CCP. Now here is what I used to do when I had jobs in the WRONG SIDE OF TOWN, I alway called the cops and let them know where I was going to be and the time asking if they could have a car swing by a few times during the hour and half I was there. They always swing by so give them a call.

Switched from Verizon after 15 or so years, only reason is they have no towers in our area so not able to use the phone, went with Cingular as they just put in two towers, wow what a difference. Razr for wife and son, Blackberry 8300 for me. Son loves it, wife says it is just a phone but has better ring tones, volume sucks, to low at the high of 7 for me. I could care less about the camera part and have no need for them. For me I have to find two things a phone does, one it must have good tone quality so I can hear on it and it must vibrate strongly so I know someone is calling.
