Should pressure washing companies be licensed???
cande replied to Henry Bockman's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Gov't license = all potential contractors are sharks and con men until they are proven not to be (i.e. they get their license). And how do they get their license?... they go the the gov't building and pay their fee. Wow, every home owner should rest easy now.- 163 replies

Why does everyone look to the gov't to fix their problems? What does the contractor receive by the gov't for his license? Those wanting licensing - what they really want is the gov't to use it power to limit their competition. What ever happened to free people engaging in commerce freely? Oh no, the consumers are not smart enough for that, they need the all wise gov't to protect them. To quote Ronald Reagan, people who think this way are destined to be ruled by a master and they deserve one (paraphrase).- 163 replies

I disagree. How long have special interest groups such as Sierra Club, and labor unions, others had unlimited power to lobby and financially support those they want in power? Its about time that everyone was afforded the right to support whomever they wish, without being excluded because they were a corp. or whatever. Just because the playing field is being leveled, it doesn't mean they are throwing out the right to cast a vote as you see fit. By the way, most jobs are sent overseas because greedy labor unions force these corporations to find affordable ways to produce their wares. Just look at the auto industry, and what union labor has done for them.... I am in agreement with William on this one. +1 !!!!! the sierra club and other so called non profits can lobby all they want but when a corp tries to get their say in all of the sudden it becomes "evil". The supreme court got it right this time. I just cant believe it was a 5/4 split - it is so obvious that we all have the right of free speech and association whether we are a corp or not...

cande replied to cande's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I'm not sure what you are saying Dan. You like rolling instead of backbrushing? -

Thanks guys. Ok, now another question. Is it forgiving? How concerned do I need to be about keeping a wet edge? -
Backbrush Armstrong-Clark?

Going to use some AC soon. Those of you who use AC, do you backbrush? If so, how? Truck brushes work well on the horizontals I'm told. What about the spindles, lattice, etc.? -
So I was at the paint store yesterday...(stain benchmarking question)

I heard that Cabot was bought out by Valspar which doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.:) -

semi transparent vs solid pros and cons?
cande replied to a68cudas's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Great! That is what I wanted to hear! Sounds like that could be good for those old rough looking decks that were neglected for years and now someone wants to salvage. I have some woodland brown that I am going to put on a PT pine deck about 3 years old. -

That's what I do as long as they want another solid. I was wondering for that customer who may what to go back to a semi later or something. -

I haven't had to strip Flood's solid (SWF-Solid) yet. Is it bad? -

I have used some Flood's Solid with the Emulsabond in it and I like it. It is my solid of choice. No priming, good hiding, dries pretty fast, easy clean up. When I need a solid - that's it. -
This what i use to quote a customer and it is my contract. It is a weak contract i know. Most of my work is referral and i feel pretty comfortable with my customers before i start so i tried to keep it simple. Maybe it can help you - use what you want or change it sample.xls
