MattsPristinePW replied to gman201's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Pristine Pressure Washing has pretty much shut down operations as of right now. The tempuratures are staying under 50 so its hard to get any work done when its that cold. -

I get at least 6 hours each week night. When I get more than that though I feel even more tired the next day. I guess my body only needs 6 hours of sleep a night.

I found a local graphic designer to do my brochure so that it would look more professional than something I would come up with. I felt that it was done at a fair price and it looks great!! I would refer her to anyone so if anybody is looking to get one done let me know and I can give your her information. (she also does business cards but I already have some) MATTSBROCHURE-outlines copy.pdf

Have you survived the great Recession?
MattsPristinePW replied to plainpainter's topic in Business Topics & Tips
This was my first year in the biz and I think I did pretty well. I started slow but things picked up during the end of the season. I am hoping to really take off next year. I formed a good customer base in a bad economic year so I figure it can only get better from here. -
How do you get referrals?

Ken, that is an awesome idea with the "Pressure Points." I am going to look into starting that with my business. Thanks for the advice. This forum is great. -
How do you market your floor care business?

I would create a website and update your search engine optimization. Search this forum on how to do the SEO, it helps out a lot! -

I totally agree that you need to eat, sleep and breath your business to be successful. I am in my first year and things are actually going better than expected so far. I have ran into little trouble (mostly b/c of TGS) and I am constantly thinking of ways to improve. -

What is the biggest challenge to your business right now?
MattsPristinePW replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
What is the biggest challenge to your business right now? Getting my name out there and dealing with the bad weather. What can you do or did you do to overcome that challenge? To get my name out there I created a website. TGS really helped me with this because not only was I able to create the website with sufficient information but I also learned how search engine optimization was really a necessity for people to find my website on the web. Most of my customers now come from my website. As far as the weather goes, I cannot control that so I do my best to schedule my customers around the bad weather. The days it is raining I make sure that I am caught up on everything else so that when the weather is nice I can go out right away and do the jobs. Was your effort successful and why or why not? Yes, I have been successful because my website has pulled in a good amount of jobs. Staying connected with my customers lets them know that I have not forgotten them and I get to them asap, weather permitting. If the challenge is beyond your control what are you doing to try to manage your business in spite of it? Since the weather has been so bad when I have the time off I make sure that all of my chemicals are caught up and my paperwork is finished. I make sure that I am set to go the moment a customer contacts me for an estimate. Where is your business right now compared to where you thought it might be at the beginning of the year? My business is actually a little ahead of schedule from when I started out. This is my first year and I have already done more jobs than I thought when I originally started. TGS has also helped me a lot out in figuring a good house wash. I feel as though I have been in the business longer than I actually have because of being on TGS a lot. Where do you see your business in the next 12 months based upon your specific area? I see my business expanding to almost double by this time next year. I am hoping to have more work that I can put up with. My goal is always to do my best and being the best pressure washing company in my area is what I have in mind. -

I am graduating college in May and I already have a full time job. I work a 6 - 2 job and when I get home I have nothing really to do. Soo why not go out and make some money! I have been researching and preparing for the spring since December and I already have jobs lined up. Can't wait to get out there

Go to 1and1.com. They supply a Home Package that is going for $2.49 a month for the next six months. They also have this website builder program that helps you build a decent looking website with nice templates and it even helps out with the SEO. I would suggest checking it out. It is way cheaper than hiring someone.

for those of you who started your business part time
MattsPristinePW replied to drod17's question in Residential Pressure Washing
That is exactly what I am doing. I hold a full time job but I get done at 2. So I figured why work for someone else making terrible part time money. This is my first year and I am just putting out flyers and getting the word our best I can. Have you had any success yet??
