Good thread John you should make it a poll?? When it comes to wood restoration i think the bbs are enough to get the knowledge of the chems/stains and the process. It just takes time and experience to master wood restoration cause it's not that hard.

Wow Ken tell us how you really feel...:lgwave: I wouldn't even touch that job and i've seen just about every kind of strip job there is in my 10 yrs of wood restoration. You just have to know when to fold em! I would much rather clean and seal 3 jobs for the time it will take me to strip that nightmare! -

This sweet little option is built in my bed as a part of toyota's TRD package 400W/115V.It does come in handy when my batteries run low.I do carry 2 or 3 extra batteries for my 2 pumps Why don't you just carry more than one battery?

Price
seymore replied to Russell Cissell's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
My staining prices are materials included but there are times when extra charges are needed to protect stone, concrete etc. When it comes to cleaning charges not all jobs are the same. So you need to price them as to what is needed to clean them..IE Stripping, brightening, light cleaning etc.I price cleaning seperate from staining prices per sqft/Lft decks/fences. You know your cost of labor or materials and you should charge to atleast cover those cost and the kind of profit you want to make. -

Paint or Stain?
seymore replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yeah my Sony has card slot for cable but you SOL for pay per views and movie channels cause i think you still need the box. Well if someone reads this thread and wants to get Direct tv let me know i'm a "Prefered customer" like they tell me. -
Paint or Stain?
seymore replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Rick the DTV vs cable is that the video quality with DTV has a better picture than digi cable.DTV is slacking off on adding HD channels cause cable has more channels than satalite.IF you ever think of gettting Direct Tv not Dish Network you let me know i need some refferals to lower my bill and they give you free stuff too. That's a good deal on that tv i paid $2500 for my Sony 42" LCD a few years ago and i regret not getting the 50" for a few $100's more.I like the idea of just having to change a light bulb when it goes out and i have new t.v. I didn't get a plasma cause i do play some Playstation games that look great in HD with a HD adapter for PS2 @720P.Now plasma's are worth getting if you watch lots of movies. The blacks look better on plasma's than a LCD and then now they going to 1080P. -
Oh yeahhh Hemi's were in demand yesterday I also saw a RoadRunner that sold for a pretty penny!

Recent deck job
seymore replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I don't blame you i have to hire some help for sure this week i have a big but easy arbor to stain next week.It has pavers underneath but i talked him into sealing the pavers to make my life easier! If you get more arbor jobs that you have to cover the arbor the longer staples a big difference. I know Fla.can get a little breezy at times and i noticed when the stain gets on the plastic in the heat it starts ripping easier. -
small deck job
seymore replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Ahh i see well that wouldn't be good.If the H.O is happy that's what matters. I liked that WTW/WRCH color on that other deck and arbor. Was that a trial on mixing the two? -

Jon did you staple the plastic with little pieces of cardboard? You a one man show or you have a helper? I know how hard arbors are to stain alone it's not fun! I use a staple gun from Duo-Fast $75 and they have some staples 5/8 inch long i think. It takes a good breeze to pull the plastic down with those staples! -
Paint or Stain?
seymore replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Uh huh you're right you either strip, sand, paint it again or light a match! When are you gonna go hi def t.v's are getting cheaper as new technology comes out.I still think Sony LCD sets are your best bet or Panasonic/Pioneer Plasma's. -

Oh yeah rick I like seeing my reciever kick in to Dolby D on most of the Hi Def channels ESPN might not always have good sound.I have everything on fiber optic my DVD/VCR recorder,Direct tv,Playstaion. I have a few people tell me that the cable digital signal is not as good as DTV.NOw as for the standard definition signal that sucks i'll catch myself watching only the hi def programing over and over. Check out this link Rick good info on it for hi-def etc... High Def Forum - Your High Definition Community & High Definition Resource Mr.Fenner SORRY turning your thread into a HI tech thread. ;) -

Yes i agree the prices were wayyy out there but i bet you Barrett&Jackson were happy seeing how much $$ they gonna get from their fees. That was nice of him to wave his fees on the hummer. Did you see the 07 mustang"70K in think" #1 off the line and they get the option to buy #2 also.

Yep test spots are usually a sure thing to help sell a job and also lets the customer see that we know what we doing! Rick you ready to watch some football today in Hi DEF? I can't believe the season is almost over:lgsad: It does suck that the first game doesn't start till 2 my time and not 12! Go Saints and Go Colts! I just think it's gonna be a better Super Bowl and higher scoring!!
