Jim, So you have your kids running around on the grapes squishing them till they get tired and go to bed..:D
-
Bill, are you getting those errors here on the TGS site or other sites? You might be missing a browser plug-in to play vids and some websites have missing .jpg files on the server so it's not your fault for the little red X.

I missed it all i saw was them cleaning pigeon crap on the roof of a building. My show is next Deadliest catch!!
-
Michael, why can't you just use your same bid sheets you use for your house and roof washes? All you are doing is writing the detailed description of the work and the sqft. you come up with. The only thing i can see that would be different is the warranty description of the sealing you are going to offer.

First deck strip
seymore replied to Able Hands's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You could try sanding the wax spill but it could be hard to remove if there is a lot of wax deep in the wood. You could spray a light coat of bleach and soap mixture and that grey will go away no pressure needed.. Those new steps will be hard to match that old wood after stained and could use some touching up after a few months or so. If you can't get the wax spot out just tell them to put a plant over that spot..:D -
I think you saw the same episode of that home repair show on PBS This Old House....:D

I need another stain
seymore replied to RCBill's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I use Gray Away on Old or new fences will be dark enough to hide old cedar but still let the wood grain show thru. The darker the stain the better an old fence will look.I've seen them all and actually suprised myself after staining 10 yr old fences plus. -

Masking tools for sealing wood
seymore replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I keep my sheets for a long time by not trying to drench them in stain too much.I still shield the covered plants with a piece of cardboard when i'm spraying the railing. I've had some of the same sheets for a couple of years now.. -

Wood Tux Tint Formulas
seymore replied to Mike Stahmer's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
EXACTLY what Rich said...cause you could go round and round with too many color options. If you look at their brick or stone color, paint etc.You can give your options of what color your stain will produce on their wood. -

Siberian Larch who?:dunno: Is he related to the Siberian Huskies?? ;) Celeste...Are the custom samples you're making going to used when you bid your jobs or just working on your recipies? It's hard to give the customer a accurate example of the finished product on a piece of sample wood.My boards are never the same age of their wood or especially after you strip a deck the color tone looks different most of the time.I like the customer who say "whatever you think looks good" Since you are staining the deck the same day you clean it couldn't you make a sample somewhere on their deck after you cleaned their deck? -
Readyseal Gold
seymore replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks Tony... I was just curious why i had never seen somebody's work in RS Gold if not mixed with Brown to have lighter highlights to accent bricks, stone etc. -
Composite /Trek board
seymore replied to Rodney's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Rodney,Now i'm starting to see tinted composite decking in like a taupe color tone. All composite decking originally come in a brown color then grey out over time if the decking a few years old. If you go to Lowes you can see the "Choice" decking and see the difference of the texture compared to Trex. If you can get TWP clear local it would be your best bet Look at the pic how the new Choice composite decking has engraved wood grain on them now. Here is the link of the arbor i stained on top of the choice decking. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3012&d=1130645200 -
Readyseal Gold
seymore replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Ahh I see.... My Cedar Gold is lighter too that's why i mix it 50/50 with some darker brown stain to give some boost.I actually mix all my colors with brown to tone down the reds and orangishes especially on PT wood...:D -

Composite /Trek board
seymore replied to Rodney's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
No prob Rodney...You should be able to clean the mildew with some bleach and soap. Then just seal it with a good clear sealer that has some good extra mildewcide. Composite decking not sealed needs to be maintained atleast once a year if the deck is under a lot of trees. I've been pretty happy to get 2 years on that deck i posted. The stain wore off in the sun and high traffic area but had very little mildew under the trees. You said your customer wanted it to stay grey? -

Composite /Trek board
seymore replied to Rodney's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Rodney I stain a few composite decks on regular maintenace years.I used Gray Away when i stained them also it was a brown pigment to look like the composites look when they are new. You could use a clear to prevent mildew but the deck will still turn Grey. -
That's TOO FUNNY Jim....:lgwave:
