  1. Back brush your second coat while it's wet and work in small sections should help.
  2. sodium percarbonate

12% no confusion .... Stripper... Brightner my simple terms with no confusion for the chemicals I use to clean wood.
  3. HD-80 over SH? When?

You do this long enough you can just look at the finish and see its acrylic. When you see a shine to the coating I think is a good give away. Most homeowners will mostly buy from the big box stores and its usually the Behr Acrylic "7 yr warranty" yeah right? Go walk down the Depot or Lowes isles and look at all the stains and you will see what you will be stripping. Now Sherwin Williams you either get veggie oil or water base. You will get some Waterbase stains being a PITA to strip also. Now how long some coatings since have been applied makes a big difference on how easy they strip especially verticals. I test with stripper since that's what I'll be using. I know of guys using Easy off oven cleaner to do test areas also I'm not sure how much sodium hydroxide is in it but should be enough to work. If you look at all the pics I've posted sodium hydroxide is all I've ever used to strip and I've stripped my share of acrylic decks. You have to be patient to dwell and be prepared to strip multiple time in some cases. Some sanding might be needed also. They are never fun so don't sell yourself short on pricing these difficult jobs!
  4. I would say that deck it not a candidate for clear alone how about a mixture of clear and the lightest RS color? As long as you have been a customer not returning your calls is not acceptable. Hell even new customers you would want to treat them like they have been a long time customer anyway. Without customers suppliers have no business! When I have any problems I get responses pretty quickly from Texas Wood Products .
  5. I start with 2 cups sodium hydroxide to 5 gallons H2O and some soap.
  6. I've tried F18 as a sample worked great but I've been mixing my own for over 15 yrs.
  7. Best clear wood finish

Sorry Rick Texas is only big enough for 1 "Gray Away" stain. I think it's trowing $ away on sealer and the wood itself if a clear sealer is used on a deck fully exposed to the sun. If the wood is not maintained every 9-12 months before turning grey if not sooner the UV rays just tear the wood up. I've done porch ceilings in a clear/Gold mix so super light pigment but not ever seeing sun should last a long time.
  8. Best clear wood finish

I don't have to strip the Gray away clear but it will turn grey if it gets a lot of sun. You can add a little pigment to the clear to add some color if needed like 1 part color 4 parts clear.

  12. Here was a small 1300 sft deck with a 150 lft of rail I worked on a few weeks ago from this repeat customer.
  13. If you getting 2 yrs i'm not sure what else you could ask for? Some decks that stay wet and don't dry out will see some mildew I think no matter what you do. You could try adding some extra mildewcide to the stain this time and see how it works?
  14. Happy Birthday Beth!

  15. Picture Attachments

I don't think so Tony it changed when the last BbS switch was made. Beth will chime in ... There is alway pic sharing on photobucket where you copy and paste the link here in the post.
  16. Try a strong solvent or deck stripper on the stain and it might be easier to drop in another paver than to clean it.
  17. Looks like sap that will crystallize from the heat wipe it down with laquer thinner and touch it up. I've heard oxalic will also crystallize if not rinsed also but it's rare from what I know.
