Help on deck
seymore replied to anniered's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You should just call Standard Paints and ask them what they recommend you should do. I would think wiping the deck down with mineral spirits would get rid of those spots but that looks like a lot of wiping. You might have to clean the deck again and start over. -

Property line fence
seymore replied to shrido's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
John Well who pays for what depends on your customer. If they are willing to pay to seal both sides of a "new" fence because they paid for all it and want to protect it it's up to them. If your customer wants to do both sides and they need to talk to all the neighbors to get ok to go in there yard. Also you need to look behind the fence to see if you need to protect anything from overspray. Then you will need to get permission to get in their yard. Remind them the fence will still rot on the back side if only one side is done. -

Cleaning IPE - the pics
seymore replied to buzzyng's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I've see them stick marks on PT wood a lot lately and tried sanding them but didn't budge. I was told by a deck builder the only way to get rid of them is to let the wood grey then they should fade.If you seal them before they fade they are there forever! I'll try to stress the stripes give the wood character  -

Using Bleach to clean a PT deck
seymore replied to seymore's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks Dennis  No secret to using bleach/soap you can see how it reacts to the wood when you start spraying it on.You can see how it starts to work on the wood after a little dwell time then rinse. -

Failed Sherwin Williams Product
seymore replied to The Rob's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That is a mess there Rob that waterborne stuff is just that water! That stuff will come off easy with a S/H stripper then brighten.Wet everything down first and keep wetting. You can cover the plants with plastic till you finish with your strong chems.Uncover them if it takes a while or they will burn in the HOT sun. What stain are you use after you strip it? Brian Keating sells a good stripper @ www.deckguide.com -
That was  of you Scott

Masking tools for sealing wood
seymore replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hey Mike, Yes I try to enclose the arbor to prevent the overspray from getting allover the house, stone, plants etc. I'll staple the sides on the top edge of the arbor so i can spray the facia, lattice etc.by just pushing the walls outward. Then i remove the top and spray from the top down leaving the walls up to catch the overspray. Pull everything down and cut in around the house  -
You could try adjusting the pressure switch on the cap of the pump.Just give it a few turns clockwise while holding the triggerCheck all of your screws to make sure you are not sucking air somewhere.
