I've tried F18 as a sample worked great but I've been mixing my own for over 15 yrs.

Might as well rename the RS stain as "Grey Away"
Sorry Rick Texas is only big enough for 1 "Gray Away" stain.
I think it's trowing $ away on sealer and the wood itself if a clear sealer is used on a deck fully exposed to the sun. If the wood is not maintained every 9-12 months before turning grey if not sooner the UV rays just tear the wood up.
I've done porch ceilings in a clear/Gold mix so super light pigment but not ever seeing sun should last a long time.

I don't have to strip the Gray away clear but it will turn grey if it gets a lot of sun. You can add a little pigment to the clear to add some color if needed like 1 part color 4 parts clear.

so my starter recoil assembly got mangled on my GX390. I picked up a replacement already. The center hub thing im replacing also because it go bent. Now, the hub thing that the starter engages into.. which is bolted to the flywheel with a 15/16" nut..3 questions..
1.how do i hold the hub from turning while trying to undo the nut?
2. when i replace the nut.. what torque?
3. does the nut loosen counterclockwise as usual, or is it one of those reverse threaded ones?
hope this is clear. thx.

I recently used gutter zap on some concrete before I used my surface cleaner and noticed it was bubbling and turning red before going over with my surface cleaner. My first thought was that I had accidentally put muriatic acid in the pump instead but confirmed it was gutter zap. In any case the water pooled after rinsing the surface thoroughly and after it dried I think it left a stain on the concrete that I cannot get off. I say might because I don't remember a stain being there before. Can anyone help out with this? And if did cause that stain, other than a grinding wheel, any ideas for how to remove the stain? Pressure and a wire brush have done very little.Welcome to The grime scene Joelnece please add your signature to your profile forum rules...
I only work with wood but there are plenty of smart concrete guys here to help you...

If you getting 2 yrs i'm not sure what else you could ask for? Some decks that stay wet and don't dry out will see some mildew I think no matter what you do.
You could try adding some extra mildewcide to the stain this time and see how it works?

Try a strong solvent or deck stripper on the stain and it might be easier to drop in another paver than to clean it.

Looks like sap that will crystallize from the heat wipe it down with laquer thinner and touch it up. I've heard oxalic will also crystallize if not rinsed also but it's rare from what I know.

Texas <------ no VOC changes

Not easier to fix than strip? Stripping fresh stain is a PITA! Sickens to boot too...
good luck with that...better have some booster handy?

Shane,Good point. Chinese restaurants use a ton of oil. Just ask the greasers. Americans supply the pigments and marketing and all is good. Anyone know any entrepreneural mainland or preferably Hong Kong Chinese businessmen?
I smell "Happy Family".
As a matter of fact i do my landlord is from China buying up houses to rent like crazy!
I know people who know people Rick......My wife is from Taiwan BTW....

Shane,China now has a ton of cars. Used, dirty motor oil was employed many years ago here in the U.S. to preserve wood. May not look too good, but apparently does a great job in protecting the wood. Take that, Armstrong-Clark and Ready Seal!
Used real oil, non-synthetic, with a bit of pigment and solvent, and sophisticated "green" marketing. Americans will love the recycle angle, sell it for $15.95/gal. at Walmart, and make a veritable fortune!
You got a point there Rick or they just gonna put some WOK oil on it every 2 yrs ...

I hope he brings some good quality stain back to China to maintain the bench to keep it from turning grey!

I start with 2 cups sodium hydroxide to 5 gallons H2O and some soap.
