Gloss or Flat Black (Painting Trailer)
adco replied to rick77's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use glossy oil base Rustoleum on my flatbeds and also white gloss on my truck wheels which still looks really good after 3 yrs. Glossy looks newer, last longer and cleans up better in my opinion. -
Has anyone tried using a white scrub pad, or something similar to remove the most stubborn black streaks. Sometimes gutter stains are a bit difficult to remove even when using a strong gutter cleaner and a soft brush.

Where do you buy straight buytl and what is your formula for making your own?

I've used Purple Power and other butyl based cleaners which cleans most gutters but there is a handful of gutters that are still difficult removing some of the darkness. Also, using butyl seems to take of the shine, dulling the gutters. Is there a cleaner that works with no butyl because if the windows aren't rinsed well enough it will etch them. Words of advice would much appreciated. Thanks

I saw an advertisement from Envirospec where they had a special price for a dual system, 30 Hp. Kohler with pump, that produces 5 gal. 3500 psi for two users or 10 gal. for one user. What are the pros and cons for using a duel system vs. using two separate engines. The engine setup would save room on my flatbed but I'd like to hear other opinions. Thanks

I make frequent trips to my local chemical company and buy fresh SH at 15%. It shelf life is rather short in the summer months.

All that makes a lot of sense. There's nothing worse than a machine that barely has enough volume to do the job. If I go with two engines I'll just have to be creative with equipment placement. Here is a pic of the truck I'll be redoing. I'm going to move the (2) 250 gal. totes one behind the other instead of side by side and mount 3 reels on each side for a two man operation.

I use Purple Power for degreasing oil spots on restaurant drive thrus but that's about it. Since PP is Buytl based it can etch glass and aluminum very easily if not rinsed off right away. Not a good idea for house washing.

Yes, first check your tips for blockage. Also, examime your surface cleaner and see if it has an inline filter. If so, it could be clogged with debris.

what do you guys like for high pressure hose?
adco replied to Neil's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I also use (2) 100 ft. 3/8" hose like John. If one hose blows you can disconnect one and you're back in business. I like the Rawhide hoses that have a smooth covering since I pull my hose across concrete and asphalt. Easier to pull and the cover seems to last longer. Also, I use a 3/8" female to female coupler to connect the two hoses instead of quick connects.- 39 replies

Advice need for dependable floor mount 200 ft reel
adco posted a question in Residential Pressure Washing
I have a flat bed F-250. I need to mount a 200 ft. pivoting reel that mounts to the bed of the truck. The only base mounting reel I have found is a Rapid Reel model 1076. I was wondering if these were quality reels and if the pivot point will hold up to a full time schedule. I've use Cox and Reel Craft but they do not make a floor mount pivot reel. I really would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks, Allen -

ez 4040...worth rebuilding or buy new?
adco replied to ahiggins's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I agree with the others. If my pressure washer is loosing psi due to worn seals in my pumps I repair them with new seals, rings etc. If my General pumps are loosing pump oil it's usually more pricey to fix. Just buy another pump online. There are a number of quality companies with low prices. -
Hey guys, I've been pressure washing mostly commercial property since 1996 and have use various hoses. The nature of my jobs requires me to drag my pressure washing hoses across pavement most of the day. It doesn't take long before the metal braids start to show. I'd like to get fresh input from anyone who could recommend a hose with the hardest outer cover possible and where is best to purchase. Non marking would be preferable. Thanks a bunch. Allen

Can anyone tell me how to attach my web address. I'm trying to improve my ranking on Google. Also, where is the MY CONTROL on this site? Thanks Allen

I agree with the others in regards to walking more slowly. If the sidewalks have been dirty for quite some time, you might have to overlap while cleaning
