Henry and anyone else, When you cleaned storm windows on 2nd floor building and transferred the glass to the ground for cleaning, what was your method of transferring? Suction cups, clamps, apparatus...? I've been asked to quote before and have avoided cleaning glass because unsure of this type handling. Thank you, -Scott

I'm in the market for a new pressure washer. Let's say I opt for a portable, hot water unit (4 wheel cart) rated to deliver 5+ GPM. How realistic is it that most home's water supply will be able to handle the 5+ GPM supply requirements? Unrealistic to count on this? What about utilizing a portable 35 or 65 gallon float tank? I have a hang up dragging long hoses (hot water at that) from a trailer mounted unit across a customer's grass. Thanks, Scott

Hot Water PW Temperature Specs
Ptsnorth replied to Ptsnorth's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thank you Alan. That was exactly the explaination I needed. -Scott -
Can anyone explain what this means and the implications for day in and day out use: Temperature, 130° Heat Rise - Max 195° 12 Volt Wayne Diesel Fired Burner Good or bad specs for daily use and reliability? How about the size engine (HP) to generate the 12 Volts for the burner? If I buy the unit, it will be for part-time house washing & deck renewal. I know, I don't want to use hot water for cleaning wood. I'm trying to bridge the gap of versatility vs. out of pocket expenses. Thank you, Scott

With a solution such as Vonage (perhaps like other broadband VOIP providers) I can forward the telephone number to my cell phone and if I can't answer the cell phone, the call will roll to Vonage voicemail. When I receive a voicemail message, I automatically receive an SMS or E-mail message notifying me with the caller's phone number (caller ID). There is a LOT of flexibility here. I avoid publishing my cell phone number because I don't want calls from Cold Caller Trolls interfering with my work. RyanH proposed a solution that is cool but its a little more bleeding edge.

Paul, there are several VOIP providers now. In checking VOIP providers, you've checked with Vonage? I'm a Vonage user launching a new business. I'm using both a voice and fax number. The service is maybe a tad quirky compared to BellSouth, but the quality, price and flexibility seem to offset its quirkiness. I may pay the price when it comes to getting listed in the BellSouth Yellow Pages next year. -Scott

Hi Mathew. Will you provide us with the brand of terminal (model too) you're using as well as your services provider? Were there any stipulations like a minimum length of time in business before they would work with you? A great idea using the customer's phone jack instead of waiting to get back to the office (or calling it in). I may try to seek a cellular phone + modem solution not to bother the customer. Thank you.

fishing for hotwater recomendations
Ptsnorth replied to CCPC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thank you Jon. I'm bootstrapping this as a part-time business; this Spring will begin my first "formal" season. I'm not sure general pressure washing is how I want to grow as a business. I have "some" wood care experience from last summer and frankly have much more to learn. A better cold water unit is all I need for wood care. The "Tim Allen (Tooltime)" side of me, able to solve any cleaning problem with hot or cold water, would love to have a rig as your suggesting. As a beginner in a new business, I'm going to play it conservative until I have more customer-service experience. Thank you for your observations about my web page. It's a placeholder while I work on its replacement. My e-mail address anytime is scott -AT- activewood.com. -

Scott, thanks for the link to this company - I'll be looking for a cold water belt drive unit this Spring and was hoping to deal with a nearby company. BTW you can see their hot water skids with this link http://www.mobileclean.com/hotwaterchoice.html - I found my way there by Googling some of their other web pages.Scott Vickrey ActiveWood Outdoor Wood Care Collierville, TN -
Does this seem too good to be true????

I saw that picture and wondered about the surface cleaner ... I'm new and hoped someone would mention why it's use would be appropriate. Scott Vickrey Collierville, TN -

I'm new to wood care and generally lurk here and other boards to learn, but their 25 year claim seems a little too good to be true. I'm not bashing the product, just skeptical. Maybe Russ will see this thread and chime in... Scott Vickrey Collierville, TN
