hey, my contractor is now using hd-80....MAN IT LOOKS SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!! took his test coat of TWP right off.... he was kinda mad at first that i "had a fit" but then after he talked to beth and russell and now is using hd-80 he feels he is better in the long run! money ahead. i only have one more question... how long is normal to let the logs dry out before staining?

SAID HE WOULD CALL BETH AND WORK OUR PROBLEM OUT. To Everybody, Thanks To Beth, He Is Going To Work On My House Again And Do It The Proper Way This Time.
  8. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

thanks everybody for your input! beth, thanks for talking to me on the phone this morning! it really helped!! i spoke to my contractor and told him about beth, russell, (hd-80) and gave him there numbers. he was very interested in what i had to say and learning a new way of doing things! said he would call them both and be out next week to restrip the house and do a better job. SO THANKS AGAIN EVERYBODY AND BETH TOOOOOO!!!!! i will post pics as the job goes.
  9. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

thanks beth! i will try to cal ya today. we have been very busy at work. so you know how that is..... i watched him for a little bit while he was stripping the logs. he sprayed it on and some places were wet and others were dried out. i dont know... like i said, i am not a pro at this, however, i have researched it enough prior to this to know that its not right.
  10. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

Once Again Guys Thanks For All The Help And Input!!!!!! If For Some Strange Reason My Contractor Is Reading This........ You Get The Idea!!!! Thanks Again You Guys Are The Best!!!!
  11. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

its not the issue of being confused or bang for the buck. someone asked about price and i gave it. just want to know if it was proper. but i think etiquette could go out the door if a pro happens to see a possible consumer being taking advantage of or rather he is doing a poor job. just a judgment request by his peers. there was never any confusion on expectation. i expect a good looking job. one well done not half---. just wanted to know if you guys thought he screwed up so bad that the job should be yanked or the logs damaged! yes the house is small. only about 1100 sqft inside. BUT THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT SO FAR GUYS !!!!!
  12. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

i agree, i thought it needed a second or third strip. i think the stripper he used was to strong. i think he thought he could just spray it on stout and spray it off. job done!!! little to no dwell time. did the price seem to low? he showed me a couple of other strip jobs he did and they all looked pretty good. he came recomended from the builder.
  13. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

he was recomended by the local log home builder. the price for two strips, caulk where needed, and seal with twp was 4000.00 thats why i just thought about renting a cob blaster from permachink and doing it myself.. lol lol .. cant do much worse!!! lol
  14. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

kevin, only in a couple of places. he only started to stain about 1/4 of the front only. like i said before... i am soooooooo pi.....ed i am about ready to tell him to get lost and pay him!!!!!! but i hate to do that. if he can fix the problem that is one thing. but how long do you let him keep screwing up until you pull the plug? i kept trying to tell him what he was doing wrong. but all i got was "trust me, you will like it when its done!" i researched the project a couple of years ago when i was thinking on going into the biz by doing my own house first and then going from there. but i got a better job and thought it would be better to have a "pro" do the work. see what i get for thinking!! lol lol
  15. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

here is couple more. still trying to upload them. like i said before. the rest of the house just about the same. some places better some worse. he first said he was going to strip twice. then he said it looked so good it only had to be stripped once!
  16. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

no kevin your eyes are not playing tricks. the whole house is like that. some places better some worse. he did only one strip and then started to seal over it as seen above. kept saying it would blend in!!!!! i kept telling him that i thought he was wrong.
  17. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

ok i think i got one to post.. here goes
  18. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

anybody have an email i can send a pic to? i got one to load in my email
  19. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

im working on it. i resized the pics and everything. i keep trying to attach them and it just keeps saying... uploading files. the streaks, i think, are from the stripper running. you can feel the surface diff between the streak and the wood around it.
  20. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

no the streaks are pretty bad!!! its not the grain of hte wood. it runs vert not horz. i understand the fuzz, not a problem. just the streaking is sooooooo bad its not funny. i am talking in some places it runs down 5,6,7 logs. been trying to post pics. have the old dial up and its taking a very long time. i think i am still on pic one after 20 mins. but thanks for all the help so far!
  21. Hhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllp!!!!!!!!!

calm down!!????? now that is funny!!!! lol lol i will have to post pics in the morning. i have the old dial up and it takes forever!!!! i am to the point of telling the guy to get lost and start over!! its bad enough that i had another contractor come over today to give me a bid on some other stuff and he even commented on it. but thanks again for the advise!!!!
  22. fishing....

  23. i have been looking at the bio stuff myself. i had been looking to buy a new truck with a diesel so i could save the $$$$$ from making my own. the only problem that i have seen so far is that the biodiesel tend to gel at temps around 50 degrees f. then you have to add kero or other anti gel additives. then the .70 per gallon goes up.
  24. ok i need some help. two years ago i had my shingle come off during a storm and had a bunch of water damage to my tongue and groove pine board in my dining room, living room. well long story short two years later i have black spots starting to show up. i know what they are (mold). my problem is i need a contractor to replace it all. so..... I NEED TO FIND A GOOD CONTRACTOR IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA!!!!! i could do it myself but i do not have the time and the insurance company is going to pay for it.
  25. Now I have seen EVERYTHING. Check THIS service out!

hey reed, i know one of the guys that work for that company. they have three or four full timers plus the owner and his wife. he makes pretty good money for the service they provide. he is making 40k plus a year. picks up the yard presents, puts them in a bag, and drops them in the customers trash can. says the company treats him good. go figure... pro pooper scooper
