Deckster Wand
tropical wave replied to aph111's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
we use the same one.....we apply everything with it, stripper, ox, RS..... the pressure adjustment is what makes it..... -
our setup is shown in a new thread called shurflo setup .....we have brass QC's on ours with little brass ball valves on both ends of our hoses, when were done with the stripper, turn off the pump, close the ball valves, QC the hose and swap out to the second hose, load the cart with a bucket of ox and away we go.........when we're done for the day I run a bunch of water thru all the hose, the pump and guns.......everything is brass (even the cone tip, the adapter hardware etc) except the plugs of course and theres been no probs yet....a little discoloration here and there, but I run a lot of water thru when were done for the day
-
exactly....... the pump shuts down after the trigger is released and the pressure builds up in the hose.....I use a deckster wand which also has a pressure regulator built into it, so the pressure can be reduced from the gun at will..... if I remember correct, we have the 1.2 gpm at 60 psi, all viton
-
there is really nothing to see there......the 2 wires from the pump (red and black) just get attached to battery clamps and are clipped to the proper terminals during use.....(after they run thru the switch, thanks Tony, makes it so much easier then opening the box and unclamping during use to shut down when adding chems or changing buckets)

here is a couple shots of our sprayer, maybe it'll help ya..... good luck

Bill, we are in chicago....very familiar with wrigleyville, although we are northwest near O'Hare...... we primarily use TimberPro products to strip/brighten/neutralize and seal with Ready Seal.......we'll go look at it, anytime...............(as long as the cubs aren't playing at the time, nowhere to park).....email us, private message us or give us a call.....773 775 7234 -

This should help business
tropical wave replied to squirtgun's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
ought to print it out and insert one into every estimate packet for PT decks......... give the prospective client another reason to hire a pro that keeps up on the business, and every decent human wants their kids to be safe.... might fall under "scare tactics" but it is the truth (sort of like people are terrified of mold growing all over their homes) -
Honda is tearing me up
tropical wave replied to RCBill's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
tony, is this easy start valve something that can be had at espec or something? I'd like one of those.....sometimes I'll leave the gun on a deck and come around, shut the machine down, mix something or whatever, go to fire it up and have to walk out back, pull the trigger to releive the pressure, walk back around to start her up.....PITA -
Business Cell Phone Question
tropical wave replied to tsutherland's question in Residential Pressure Washing
we use nextels.....unfortunatley, they are more expensive than others, but the D.C. feature is invaluable......especially when everybody we deal with, personal and professional is using them.....makes life a lot easier.. my .02 - (plus state tax, national cell users fee, this fee, that fee, this B.S tax, that B.S. tax, nationwide communications fee, button pushers tax, tower maint. fees, etc, etc, etc, ........so my .02 now costs an additional $45.91, that wasnt mentioned in the package when we signed up !!!!!) -

couldnt agree more !!! being in "public service", me and my people in L.E. or Firefighters etc, see some heinous tragic stuff, crimes on children, murders, rapes, nasty crashes etc. etc......If that stuff comes home with you everyday, you'd lose your mind, ulcers, heart attacks........regular life stress is brutal enough, then add BS like that......thick skin and a bizzare sense of humor, its actually pretty weird what can happen to oneself after years of exposure to the dark side of humanity........... -
small house but a BIG job !!!! that was really nasty, nice job !!! keep them pics for your sales books......

deck cleaning in wet conditions
tropical wave posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
we have a deck to get done ASAP....... it is just dirty and gray. The question is the weather is on and off drizzle with chance of thunder storms, If using percarb, will the weather make it impossible to do? or just more dwell time and more chems if they get dilluted if the rain comes on again, off again..... We'll be washing the 4800 sq ft house first anyway, which means the deck will be pretty wet anyway.....Im thinking we can get it done, and the wetter conditions will actually aid in keeping everything wet and protected......???? any thoughts??? -
deck cleaning in wet conditions
tropical wave replied to tropical wave's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
once again the weather-folk here and on the weather channel are insane... but whatever... did the job and didnt get wet until we were wrapping it up...... took forever though, 4800 sq ft house with 2 decks attached, a main deck and an elevated deck off an upstairs bedroom (of course with no exterior access) ladder up and over the railing...... wasnt a strip job, just percarb and ox, but the underside needed to be done too......LONG A** DAY...... and Ive got some questions regarding the wood part of this job, but I'll ask and describe hopefully tomorrow, after sleep or I'll ramble incoherently like I'm starting to do now......!!!! thanks folks -
Question
tropical wave replied to KC Deck's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
good luck !!! get the deck in the magazine and you'll be reaping the rewards for quite some time....... for close to $3.00 a sq ft, i assume your sealing it in gold or platinum...??? LOL -

I understand what your trying to say, but I have a real hard time agreeing with her assuming ANY responsibility for what animals like this guy do.......I see this too much in my full time job..... Just because a victim (in this case a woman) chooses cheaper service, uninsured etc etc, or drives thru a bad part of town, or wears something sexy, or whatever, these people dont bear any responsibility for what criminals do (after they are victimized I certainly ask myself, "what the hell were you thinking?") but its not their fault, and they certainly don't deserve it...... (if that makes any sense?)... Its like locking your doors, they just keep honest people honest, they dont keep your stuff safe from criminals..... and as far as being professional looking, thats wonderful and will get more jobs than if you look like a dirtbag out on parole, but if books were judged by their cover it would make my job a whole lot easier---"just find the nasty guy, he MUST be the rapist or the burgler".....remember Ted Bundy, clean cut, professional looking, smooth talker etc. etc. Most people looking for a house wash would probably hire him too (if he was insured, of course)......Same for John Gacy, professional contractor (small business home handyman) and a professional clown, and he was a gem of a guy!!!! -
Silo Wash in Maryland
tropical wave replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Contractor Help Wanted - Job Leads
fantastic description.......Im in tears reading this, over and over again..........its a silo........ I love it -
the auto remote starters also shut the vehicle off......the same 2 buttons that start it, will shut it down when running.....at least thats how the 3 we have work......we have DEI Pythons on our vehicles, also, here too, you get what you pay for, to many horror stories about the bestbuy or kmart remotes...fires starting in the ignition, and that would be worse on a rig being so close to fuel for the engine and burners...... they also have accessory buttons, IE: the button that would say, unlock the trunk of a car could be set up to remote start the burners etc etc....
