  1. We just used the TimberStrip to remove 2 layers of Cabots Siding stain that was on a deck....worked like a dream !!!
  2. beige aluminum siding

we've got a tan aluminum house to do this week (weather wont cooperate) but anyway, the siding isnt too oxidized, not too much when rubbed with hand......the homeowner is removing all the aluminum shutters and replacing with new ones after the wash, which you can tell on the pics that behind the shutters is nasty. the siding underneath is a little darker (un-faded) but its mostly dirt...the aluminum isnt that old style smooth surface, it has ridges in it like vinyl, the aluminum trim is the smooth dark brown that I'll have to be careful not to remove too much.....the question is, under the overhangs is where the most of the grime is, we'll use regular mix of citriclean, 12%, etc. etc. if the mix doesnt get this clean, is there anything else in the arsenal that I could shoot on there...heavy degreaser, acid, anything ?????? being somewhat oxidized aluminum, im gonna reduce the pressure quite a bit and rinse with a 40 as to not zig zag the siding with an X-jet rinse...... plus if we can get to it before next tuesday, it will be only around 50 degrees and damp, any comments on dwell time etc with the dampness and drizzle...... thanx !!
  3. beige aluminum siding

well, its supposed to be almost 60 tomorrow and sunny, so we're gonna head a bit north and do this one.....if theres time and the weather holds out, we've got a deck to strip too...which is also pretty far north from us... thanks for the tip tony, the top is the "dirtiest" area and I really hope it isnt pitted, it isnt really that old either...maybe 8 years the homeowner said (why its not vinyl, I'll never know) the rest of the house is filthy, and it will be a whole lot cleaner....plus his cement steps and foundation are moldy which will also come nice and clean......the homeowner will be pleased and if the top 2 rows are pitted Ill tell him so...... thanks again !!! you enjoying that snow up there?
  4. Deck Estimate Question Looked at a deck in a NICE area. Its a pretty big structure, about 10 years old, gray, mold, mildew and really dried out....had a clear waterproofer applied 5 years ago by the homeowner, can't tell now!!!! anyway, it's awkwardly shaped with an octagon upper platform (used to be a gazeebo, just the base remains)...... I used two different methods of pricing and they were close to each other, but if I could get some estimate feedback, that would be outstanding.........it'll need a good percarb bath, ox and ready seal............ octagon floor is 149 sq ft main deck floor is 559 sq ft total flooring sq ft is 708 additional sq ft, benches 44, steps (step and risers) 31, 106 spindles, fascia all around is about 86 sq ft, flower pots etc etc all said and done its "about" 976 sq ft, maybe more as some little stuff here and there wasnt measured....came in between $1,100.92 and $1,376.16............. pics to follow.....what do you folks think??
  5. Deck Estimate Question

we may be getting snow flurries tonight mixed with rain, he's probably not even thinking about his deck right now...LOL Ill give him till monday and shoot him a call and see where we are at.....If we didnt get it, Ill sure try to find out why......
  6. swirls on vinyl siding from the x jet

can you provide examples of the chems you are speaking of? what acid and what alkaline? i mean specific products.....
  7. Deck Estimate Question

havent heard from him yet......got 2 decks lined up since I bid on that one... we will see.....You think a week is a good amount of time to wait it out ? I'm sure he has others coming out to give an estimate.....
  8. a good question was brought to my attention this past week regarding wood tux, has anyone attempted to strip this yet? being new, what are the beliefs on removing wood tux wet in a couple of years? has there been any tests on removal?
  9. Lowering pressure with tip

too funny !!! where it is really noticable is if you have a blue or yellow extension wand......put in a #4, extend the wand and pull the trigger (and hang on!) the noodle will bend like a banana, then try it with a #8 or even a #10...VERY noticable difference in the pressure......the wand will pretty much stay put...(and you'll get just as wet underneath it!!)
  10. Deck Estimate Question

thanks for the replies everyone.....jon, we are paying insurance, and not booked full....(yet, I hope) stopped by the homeowners this afternoon and dropped of the estimate (came out to $1,100) also dropped off color samples for sealer and other miscl stuff, like deck light brocures, he was initially interested in maybe getting those installed also..................the price per sq ft actually came out to like $1,376 or something like that, then reduced by X% for a "new customer" discount because I want the job especially in the neighborhood it is in, so the $1,100 seemed ok, I guess we'll see if we get it.......if we dont hear from him in a couple of days, Ill give him a call thanks again
  11. Pole Placement

    too funny......that would be a b*tch !!!!
  12. Powerwashers dream come true!

    Pam Anderson
  13. pump problem help

the unloader is black with a small plastic cap on it...it doesnt look like it is a cap, but it is there.....pry it off with a knife or small screwdriver...you will be able to see down into the body of the unloader.....the unloader turns clockwise to turn the pressure all the way up.....when its turned all the way (full pressure) the bolt (or nut or hex, dont remember what it is) down inside may not be turned all the way... put a socket on it and tighten it all the way down.......put the silly black cap back on and you should be in business......(been there done that with the AR) and never again turn the pressure down with the unloader.....in case it got turned, I never again messed with my unloader.....been great ever since I have no other complaints with the direct drive...at least not yet (knock on wood)
  14. Information?

def go with the 4gpm machine..... you'll need the water "volume" of the 4gpm machine.....anything less and you'll be taking all day....the max psi of the machine is irrelavant, you will be buying different sized nozzles to reduce the pressure....depending on what your cleaning, (res houses) you really wont use the nozzles that come with the machine......
  15. Please report your findings ASAP...... never heard of the RS problems you are mentioning....should I reconsider RS this year??? Is there anything that goes on as easy etc etc.....is woodtux goof proof too ??? now I find myself questioning stuff I thought I had already decided on for this year.....
  16. NEWB question

Sparklin, Welcome aboard !!!! we are a corporation ,for a couple of reasons, but the main one is that our full time jobs promote many opprotunities for us to be sued...... the Inc. protects "company" assets and are therefore untouchable by a lawsuit......... use the search feature for insurance, look for Joe Walters, he'll hook you up.. I think the minimum liability he offers is 300K.....but im not sure.. I see you are in Riverview Fl, I just (last fall) got my dad set up in a subdivision called Panther Trace off of 301......Im sure you know where it is..... lots of new construction going on all over the place down there.....Im trying to get down for more visits, (golf and beers) maybe we can hook up sooner or later and compare "notes"....PM me or email if you would like.......good luck !!!
  17. Ipe, cedar and PT...

WOW guys, that is Bad A$$ !!!!! beautiful work
  18. Love this deck!

right off the IPE Lovers website.......for some unknown reason, I had this saved in my favorites folder..... personally, Ive never seen IPE, and if I did, I wouldn't have known it.....!!!!!!!!! IPÊ ADVANTAGES Why use IPÊ over other decking materials™ IPÊ is an environmentally responsible choice which naturally resists rot, decay, insects, and mold without the use of toxic chemicals used in other decking products. It is naturally fire resistant and has been awarded an 'A1' rating. Additionally, IPÊ is an incredibly strong, dense wood, harvested from naturally sustainable forests only. It has very high wear durability in daily use, and is resistant to splintering and checking. It's also beautiful! How long will my IPÊ deck last™ IPÊ has been awarded the best decay resistance rating available - "HIGH 25+ years", however it has been known to last longer, there just isn't a higher rating! How does IPÊ weather™ Weather has little to no effect upon the structural integrity of IPÊ wood. The sun will eventually transform the wood from it's original reddish-brown to a beautiful silver patina. Is IPÊ subject to insect invasion and damage™ Due to the dense cell structure of IPÊ (all heart wood) it's not only naturally resistant to insects but also to decay, rot, and molds.
  19. damn right they did (born and raised in East Hartford, CT) but they choked on it this year !!!! back to your regularly programed thread: I like the face shield for mixing stuff in the buckets, respirator for the nasty stuff, acids, etc....never worn it washing a house though........ the full face shield is nice for when crap like pebbles etc flies back and smacks me in the head !!!!
  20. X-Jetter

I get all my chems from RPC, just never got the foamer......in your opinion, does it really make a difference? does it give you more dwell time etc ??
  21. X-Jetter

how far does a gallon go? 1 cup per 5 gallons? something like that??
  22. commercial contracts info needed

    Im jealous..........have fun
  23. You'll do fine with the direct drive...... but like Tony said, you wont need to sell it later...keep that as a backup or for jobs that require a mobile smaller machine. good luck !!!
  24. sporting goods stores like "Dicks" or even Walmarts that sell shooting supplies sell anti-fog stuff for shooting glasses, which works pretty good..... I like the wrap around amber shooting glasses, with the vented sides..... they're obviously better for impact then chems, but they fit well with a respirator on....
  25. small size battery box

I got mine from an auto parts store....they had 2 sizes. It was murrays or autozone........places like that may have boxes for motorcycles and/or ATV's. might be worth a shot........
