Help Choosing A Surface Cleaner
Mathew Johnson replied to TNT Pressure Washing's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have 2 hydrotek - the 27 inch - It is reallt sweet and the smaller one with a dump valve to control pressure it works great. 2 whisper wash - one floater and one with wheels - Both are great 2 steel eagle recovery cleaners 19 inch with wheels and floater wall unit - Large one is great, works very well, small floater is PIA - My vacuums are to powerful for the small one - I can only use one motor on the vacuum - with both motors it seals to surfave and is difficult to use... Mark W said it well - they all spin and spray water -
Thanks John, Will do, I just hadnt heard much lately

Who is going to PWNA throwdown in October?
Mathew Johnson replied to EnviroClean's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Jason.. I think Ken's post summarzed the thead well. My personal experience somewhat echos what Celeste has written. There are no perfect orgs.... There seems to be some contractors perceptions that certain members are untouchable or cliquey due to thier stature in the industry or contribution to the industry... It is what it Is! If you are looking for cheap ways to give validity to your business, start wth the online course for Woolmans Certified contractor. It is free, It is a national known product line, and they give you free product for completng the certification. My advise to you is this... Join an org when the time is right and have your own personal agenda mapped out when you do. Most have a personal agenda to execute and this compliments what has been written in this thread "you get out of an org what ypu put into it". Use of the Logo is a plus with Marketing. Woolmans, ReadtSeal, PWNA. VISA, Mastercard are just a few of the logos on my website. They all carry meaning, but remember this...., The importance of the Logos to your customers relys mostly on your ability to educate them on the importance of having the certifications during your interaction with them. Good Luck!! As far s the PWNA get together in the fall... If you have the $$$$$... Go, you will learn a lot -

Mathew Johnson replied to JBenson's topic in Mold Remediation, Radon Testing & Home Inspection
The National Center For Disease Control published a MMWR paper (maortality morbidity weekly report) in June of this year outlining mold health hazards and cleanup... (The Link is on my webste). It clearly recommends bleach as the preferred detergent for clean-up. I have also spoken to two of The Infection Control Attnding Physicians at the hospital work at.... The reenforce the use of Bleach. The EPA also has publications to address this issue as well -

I have done 17 or 18 basements since the floods here i upstate NY. We power wash, sanitize and extract all water and dry with fans. We use two recovery systems with the one wall and one floor steel eagle vacuum surface cleaners/ xx Low pressure, dual lance and common sense will equal $$$$$$$$$$. We Get a decent fee for this service. We also have passed on more projects than we have done.... Avoid the PITA basements MY WEBSITE HAS SOME EXCELLENT LINKS TO ASSIST WITH CELLAR CLEANUP. -

Mathew Johnson replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
We are doing the Boys and Girls club in oneonta - complete wash and flatwork. Last friday afternoon we cleaned and sanitized the bathrooms in the city park after the floods we had here. To give you an idea how bad the flood were, There was mud and silt in the sinks and on the top of the toilets.... in a park that has never flooded before. -
xjet pail system????
Mathew Johnson replied to andrew hartigan's question in Residential Pressure Washing
It draws pretty quick.... On my large trailer (14 foot enclosed) I have a soap dispensing system with 200 feet of line on a hose reel. I use the pail system on my Van I have a 30 gallon detergent tank that is hooked to a flojet on demand pump - I think it is 2.8 or 3.0 gpm with a ball valve near the end of the nozzle connection. It worls great, I can soap a house in 3-5 minutes. -

We are rapidly becoming proficient at flood recovery services. Our main service that we are providing this and next week are silt and mud extraction from cellars. We offer two levels of service for this: The comprehesive service: This is really, really, really, really expensive. This is where we muck out all of the mud and slime anf then perform a final cleaning and sanitizing. We have done cellars with 3 inches of mud to 21 inches of mud. The Basic service: This is really, really, expensive. The homeowner extracts most of the mud and muck, then we perform a final cleaning and sanitizing. We also offer a few other flood recovery services: Interior Service: We are offering interior washdown and silt removal. Commercial Recovery: We provide commercial recovery priority service. We also offer a twenty percent discount to the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce Businesses (we are a membr) that require cleaning service sdirectly related to the 2006 flood. We have used radio ads and word of mouth getting us all the business we need. 25 percent for insurance claims, 65 percent COD and 10 percent on terms. We purchased a few extra pieces of equipment (Beth - edit this if I violated product posting rules). I bought a few of the sludge pumps for the pressure washer and a steel eagle recovery surface cleaner for the final cleaning (had it overnighed express in). I have vacuum systems - a nikro duel head vacuum, a vacuboom duel head vacuum, a 6.5 gallon shop vac and three different types of sump pumps. Equipment is the key we can do a large cellar in less than a day, we did one in 4 hours this morning (2 man crew). The Bottom Line: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ -

2006 Sealer Poll: Which are you using this year?
Mathew Johnson replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
DITTO to Rick's post. I exclusively use ready seal. I bid the decks and buildings for a price plus the ready seal. If the homeowner wants a different product it is an additional 28 percent on the contract price and they buy the stain. It is easy to use and cost effective when I buy 30 pail lots (150 gallons) at a time. Homeowners actually are calling me to buy it to apply themselves on new construction or after I have stripped thier deck -
