Most effective way to get a job... do it for free!!! Seriously... Convience store / gas stations are a great job if you can get them. We started by offering to clean one for free 2 years ago... For the same company Last year I got paid to do 13 of them, this year I am in the middle of cleaning 29 out of thier 62 locations.. Huuuge contract from doing the store around the corner from my house for free -

what do you do when a customer tries beating you down ?
Mathew Johnson replied to a68cudas's topic in Business Topics & Tips
When a customer ask me if I can do better on the price, I smile and say "sure, I can add $100.00 to it". I explain to them that I gave them the best price possible the first time. I don't dicker with price, I thank them for calling and ask them to call if they decide to have the work done. -
Teak Bench ??????
Mathew Johnson replied to jquick77's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
If the deck is a different wood than the bench (Pressure treated verses Teak... the Readyseal will look different from one to the other. I did a deck with cedar railing and pressure treated flooring and steps with medium brown, it looked like a two tone deck job. There wasnt a great difference, but it looked great. make sure you tell the homeowner that they wont be identical if they are different species of wood. -
Steve, Call Tom Vogel at ACR Products... I buy an heavy brush for gutters from him and it is excellent. Tell him I sent ya...610-392-1899

Mathew Johnson posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hello... I am going out of the cold water powerwashing business. Due to the fact that I have 5 machiines, the vice-president of the Corp (wife) has directed me to get rid of some surplus equipment. First machine: 18 HP Kohler - twin cylinder, electric start, external 8 gallon fuel tank, gear drivin 2021 General pump, currently has a pressure unloader with bypass back to float tank. ( float tank not included ) This is in service, I put it together mid season last year. - Great machine - mounted in 1 ton van (van not included) Second Machine Is a 13 HP Honda, manual start with a 4 gpm general gear driven pump with and unloader with float tank bypass. This unit was on the vehicle last year as a backup machine. Used very little . pump with 10-12 hours Both of these machines draft well from supply tanks. I am entertaining all offers... I will get shipping quote or will meet people up to 150 miles to delivere -

what size water tank
Mathew Johnson replied to mas3372's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I carry two on my large trailer... One s a 60 gallon float tank and the other is a 325 gallon supply tank... they are plumbed to a three way valve, so I turn the valve to draw from whatever tank I am using. My bypass line from the unloader back to the tanks is plumbed with 3/8 inch quick connects on the tanks and line, so I just switch the bypass line to whatever tank I am using. It works great, and I only carry the extra tank of eater when I need to. I also have a 160 gallon tank I use for recovery, I could haul water in that also if needed and still be uner my trailer gvw. -
