  9. Starting New Company

I too agree that one can start out with small equipement. I started with a Home Depot 2700 psi 3 gallon per minute machine, 100 feetof haren hos and 50 feet of pressure washing hose. I took the mony from my first job and paid off the Cash credit card advance I used to put a down payment on my insurance. Sure, it took a long time to do the house, more than 8 hours. I did a great job and spent the majority of my free time marketing, because I had no jobs to do... The marketing started to pay off s the phone started to ring... As the cash started to roll in, I continued to invest in better equipment and spent time and money marketing. The 8 hour house in now a 1 hour job. The 400.00 deck job progressed to th 8000.00 barn staining project. Greaser, you can do this, I did it. Read the boards, invest your money wisely. You can see some of my equipment at http://pwscleaning.com/our_equipment1.htm. Call me and I will help you out with marketing. A lot of people helped me along the way, I will gladly pass it along. Very few people start this business with a lot of money.... PS: I know Carlos from Newlook... Your best investment in the business would be to spend a day working with him!!!

  13. State of Affairs-Bulletin Boards

Pete, I agree..... I myself, as well as others (bbs members, forum leaders, BBS Board administrators) have gotten caught up in the moment and posted things that offered no value to the thread at hand and / or were personal attacks on someone.. Once the post hits the thread, anyone who is subscribed to that thread gets it via email. A while back I posted a response on the PWNA BBS and it was taken the wrong way by a fellow member... The response to my post was quite interesting and somewhat of a personal attack... The post / attack didn't really bother me, what did bother me is that my son and daughter both read the post before I did. Can I change the events that occured and may occur in the future? No, but I can change and control how I choose to respond to them. I printed that post and I have it on my bulleton board next to my computer. It serves as a reminder for me when I post (which like Everette and others is less frequent than in the past)- I ask myself what value I am offering to the industry in the post I am typing. I Will I respond to that post that is tacked to the wall in my office. Doing so on the BBS will offer no value to the BBS or the industry; But the issue will be addressed in a profesional manner. I will do it in a manner that my kids will see the value of professional communication. How I and others post, reflects and represents hot we deal with and communicate with our customers and other customers in the industry. After all, they do also read the BBS. This board gets hits when one does a simple google search. We want to be viewed as a professional industry... Then we should always communicate in a professional manner. I, like others, have made the mistake of typing without thinking.... And I can't change the past, I can only learn from it... I feel Everette is very accurate in his post. I don't feel that it is about having broad shoulders or a huge set cajones to not let different post offend you... If a post is offensive to others, should it be here? It is about why Beth and Rod provide the BBS service.... To offer value to the industry and promote the industry as a profession that strives to help contractors.

  20. Black spots on deck rails

Was there something else nearby that was painted or stained?
  21. What is a good stripper for decks?

I use Roof Magic 4X for most of my strip jobs... I have found that it works well and fast.
  22. Roof Magic 4X is awsum as well... It is pricey, but the net yield is great. I use about 1/3 to 1/2 gallon of product per deck.. depending on what I am taking off the deck.. I do also carry F-18 as the more kinder, gentle stripper / cleaner. f18 is also great to clean grease spots on concrete / black-top - I use it on my drive thru-banks and Wendys contracts
  23. Future Round Table Meetings

I have only been to one round table, that was Beth's . The cool thing in common was that everyone had a passion for the profession and everyone left with valuable information...
  24. others can have ideas also... The beauty of this country is that it is acceptable to disagree with one another. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and post personal feelings and personal attacks... It is best that one apologizes to the person it is directed at and edit thier post as opposed to having it pulled.
  25. New addition to the pw kid family
