Does everybody start out as a "lowballer"?
Mathew Johnson replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Walmart also has a twist on the industry other large retailers do not have. Many of the products in thier stores have not been paid for by Walmart. The pay the supplier for the item after the item is sold... To have 15 million in inventory to sell that you haven't laid out the cash for is a definent plus. I too have just finished my first full year... My first house last year took a day and a half. I charged 225.00. With research, experience and beating these BBS for advise and info, I can clean the same size house in less than two hours and do a better job. Had I started out with the lowballin housewash, I would be out of business. I don't get many calls a week... But I can almost always close the deal if I get onto your property for an estimate, If I couldn't... I guess I would lower prices to keep a float in the short term but then what... Your phone rings and you hear "Mr. Smith told me that you washed his house for 99.00. Would you please come do mine?" Uuggh!! -

We advertise to clean windows and It has helped with cash flow for the business. When it's slow I give bids... When it is busy - I tell them that I don't know when I can get there or I tell them that my window cleaning slots are full at this time. Our window prices start at a minimum of 200.00 per house and up

I agree.... the trailer as a GVW rating of 7000 lbs. With the water load, trailer and equip my gvw on the trailer is at 4850 and my tongue weight is at about 350 lbs. I asked ford the exact question A-Plus is referring to. The two main things they said was that the weight would be fine, But do not use the Overdrive function on the truck transmission when pulling.

I have an f150 6 cylinder. I pull a double axle trailer with 325 of H20, 30 gal House wash, 2 machines, Hot box and Generator plus accessories. It pulls fine. I have an adjustable electic brake unit that is excellent, I dont even realize the trailer is there when I am stopping. See a Picture here http://pwscleaning.com/our_equipment.htm

I always get a flu shot and this year is no exception. I work full time in the ICU as a Nurse, Most in the PWing industry are healthy - relatively younger people who may survive the flu if they did get it, I have seen people, young and old alike die from the flu. I get it not because I fear the flu, but more importantly I fear picking it up and transmitting to aready sick people that I care for before my symptoms would appear. The flu virus is constantly changing as one person stated. If I didn't work in healthcare, I probably wouldn't get it... but then again I like to play poker and gamble also Reed; Excellent post about getting the tetanus shot.... Its a real disease that is easily preventable and has terrible consequenses if contracted

I see an add in the paper for an enclosed pressure washer system, 2 machines, 2 - 18 hp Briggs engines, 255 gal tank with hot water. 3900.00. I am excited, I drive 2 hours with check in hand and this is the maching. The biggest problem I saw was he couldnt get the engines started. How old is this? And no I didnt buy it http://pwscleaning.com/pics.htm

How old is this thing
Mathew Johnson replied to Mathew Johnson's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks, I figured someone would be able to tell me. The guy really got upset when I didnt want to buy it. He asked me to make an offer so I did. I offered him two hundred bucks for the chemicals he had and told him if he wanted to throw in the trailer that was fine. -

I talked with one of our Infectious Disease Attendings in the ICU at work yesterday... By all means she reccommended eye, respirator and and ear protection with a rain suit and by all means make sure you have had a recent tetanus shot.

With either hog or poultry it is a good idea to wear mask eith the appropriate filtration cartridges, I will check with our Infection Control Physicians when I work in the ICU tomorrow. I think one of the critters are colonized with a bacteria strain that is nasty if it found a home in the lungs, eyes, mouth or ears

I recently bought some equipment from a guy in New Jersey who went out of business, His X-Jet set up was the best I have seen and I have it installed on one of my trailer rigs. Heres the Deal. On a hose reel he has 200 feet of X-Jet tubing hose (1/2 diameter) with fittings on the end with a gate valve to attach an X-Jet. The hose reel is attached an ON Demand 12 volt sureflow pump that drafts my soap mixture out of a 30 gallon tank on my trailer. It work really nice... I can even X-Jet soap off of the end on my extension wand. It knocks an hour off of my house jobs... And is a lot less work
