  1. An option for those struggling......

$400????.... WOW.... that is really cheap. If you don't like the kick to your machine. switch over to a flow unloader. That will help a lot.
  2. An option for those struggling......

When we started the business, I decided to offer a variety of services and build the business around that goal. To be frank.... I will wash your dog if it will stand still and you will write me a check for it. At every turn, look for ways to improve the services you offer. In 2006, we had massive flooding in upstate NY, we rolled the dice and purchased recovery equipment and steel eagle recover surface cleaners, having them shipped overnight express. We spent a bundle, but the return was great. Now we offer interior pressure washing and have done8 or nice cellars this year. When I started, the one thing I stated that I would never do was paint. I love to stain, but hate to paint. For the past 3 years we stain cabins and whole houses. We are just finishing up 2 whole house stain projects (1 with sikkens and one with Sherwin Williams Woodscapes. As we are finishing up the stain job on the SW house, the next door neighbor came out and asked for a price to paint her house. Guess what.... I am now a painter with a pressure washer. We will literally carry the ladders across the lawn. We have quoted three of the six houses on this street and we will be doing the third after we paint this one. I still hate to paint, but I have two employees that love it. They are doing a house in 6 to 10 days, depending on the prep work, They go directly to the jobsite.... I go powerwash We have declined project where the dry blasting would have been an option. Our newest Item for the business plan is to go to log home restoration school; learning to cob blast and other methods as an alternative chem and water stripping. Placing a multimedia blast pot and potentially a high volume air compressor in the 2009 capital budget. The economy is no better here in upstate NY than anywhere else. We have let the market tell us what services to offer to increase our gross sales.

  4. 2008 Sealer Poll

Interesting poll, We mainly use ReadySeal and have since we started the business. Easy to use, easier to maintain, and looks good. Like their marketing twist as "The contractors choice" in wood sealers. I have applied it to log homes, Board and Batton (Barns, garages and houses), cedar siding, cedar shakes, PT decks, Cedar decks, Swingsets, one outhouse, one doghouse, the inside walls of three pressure washing trailers and redwood decks (using thier redwood formula). In 4 1/2 years I had one problem with one complaint from the homeowner on a Cedar Deck.... It was a novice error on my part, not a problem with the product itsself. I called Pierce (National Sales Manager) for advice and decided to restrip and seal the deck. Without even a call or notice, Pierced shipped me an additional 10 gallons of product to recoat the deck at no charge. Great product + great resource = happy customer. Sherwin Williams Deck Scapes and WoodScapes is our choice for solid colors for houses and decks when the homeowner wants a solid. The deckscapes is pretty forgiving in the application process, rarely lapmarks, good coverage and looks good. The woodscapes for houses is less forgiving, looks great, we often spray the final coat and back roll it with a wiz roller. Get a Sherwin Williams business account and get great contractor pricing Sikkens: We have used the their solid on a house. Not very forgiving at all, But... it looked fantastic when finished and coated extremely well with good coverage. We did 98 percent of the house with a wiz roller and did it quickly Armstrong Clark: I have put it down on four or five decks recently. Pretty easy to apply, you beed to slightly aware of application process to prevent lapmarks (if you cut in first and then do the deck, you may see a few lap marks (ReadySeal does not do this) However.. two coats of this product looks good on the decks. Maintenance: the jury is still out, I will not know about this for a couple of years. We Applied it to spindles with a wiz roller.... very fast application method. Nice Brochures except that they promote the homeowner self application a little more than I would like. Ace HArdware Brand::lgangry: Benjamin Moore Brand: OK
  5. Obama - Biden - Your Opinion ?

It could be worse... I am a bit worried about candidate safety this year... There are a lot of radical americans in this country likely to do something stupid. I agree, Mcain will be eighty if elected and reelected at the end of his second term. I look forward to the first candidate debate.
  6. Thank You Matt Johnson!!!

Thanks Mike, you are welcome to stop down anytime.
  7. When I agreed to try Armstrong Clark Stain, one thing that was mentioned was that it could rain immediately after application and it would be fine. Last Thursday we were applying it to the large lakeside project and we saw the clouds coming over the ridge behind us. We finished applying the coat to the deck and railings. Six minutes after we finished the last board it started to rain. It poured to the point that we were stuck under the eaves of the house with water gushing out of the ran gutters. I thought oh well, I will be fixing this mess when it dries. We returned to the project site today to stain one of the other decks and fix the area from Thursday. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, THE AREA IN QUESTION LOOKED FLAWLESS, IT LOOKED LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER AREAS THAT HAD BEEN STAINED IN DRY WEATHER ON PREVIOUS DAYS. The project as a whole looks great. Will try to post pics when I can. :lgjump::lgjump::lgjump::lgjump: TWO THUMBS UP FOR JAKE CLARK AND HIS PRODUCT!!
