  1. How long in business

I have developed a special state of the art conceptual system that allow me to clean colder and with less pressure than anyone else in the whole world. This system was discussed on a recent outing with 17 professional ballplayers and 6 hollywood actors while taking a cruise in my canoe. I have developed a method in where I buy a 12 pound bag of ice and dump it into my water tank, lowering the ambient water temp by up to 1.7 degrees.
  2. Vinyl Fence not shiny.

Al, I would quit using the degreaser along with your 12%. If it cuts grease from the dishes, imagine what it does to the wax/shine on vinyl.
  3. How long in business

I am so childish, forgive me.
  4. There is not an option for 10 years and I figure this was just another "look at me" Jim post.
  5. Unloader Blowout Issue?

I have never had one on any of my machines. One more thing to leak or go bad.
  6. What ever happen to Jarod??

Just don't say his name two more times. That would be worse than having beetlejuice back here.
  7. Everyone is so PollyAnna

You can tell them that. I do it a dozen times a day. If that doesn't work for them, offer them someone else's number to help them out.
  8. $100.00 Kentucky Give-away today

I am having a meeting in NC. Price is $795 per day. Food and lodging will not be necessary as attendance will not be required. Dates are May 1 and 2. Please send check overnight. Thad, I am discounting yours by $250 because you gave me some rep points one time. If you would like to pay for a third day I will discount it by half. Think of the savings, no lodging, traveling or food expense. There will ne no prizes given away so you will no be burdened with carry something home.
  9. Rod, I love you but I can not understand how your mind works. Surely you wrote the above in jest. I am beginning to think I am the only sane one around here. Scary, but I think I see Tony in the mirror sometimes. I think liberalism must abound up north. Think how much better life would be without gov't regulations and interference. I dare say there are a few among us that think the ACLU and ACORN are great things.
  10. Fair enough Rod. As you said, I don't worry as much about the chems and what not as you do. We turn out about 1200 residential house washes a year and a couple hundred decks, but I try to concentrate mainly on apartments. Believe, I stay current with OSHA and regulations that affect me. That was not the issue. The issue was license. I don't see the need for it. We agree on most everything else. If you are my age then you are to old to be pulling on starter cords anyway. Get electric start:). I know I come off as a crusty old coot. Hard to get words on the screen to relay my thoughts sometimes. Carry on. I won't go up North and wash your houses if you don't come down here pushing for a license. Best way to deal with sealers and keeping up to date is just pass on them. Life is to short to wash something that isn't easy. Do like I do and tell them to call someone else.
  11. I am all for the insurance and anything that is required by law. Render unto Ceasar. No problem with that. Why ask the gov't for more. A license will not make someone a better washer. It just means he spent money to get one. My business does not suffer when another company messes up someone's property. It is either not affected by it makes me money by correcting their mistake. A business license does not create a saftey net if someone gets hurt or property gets destoyed. IT"S JUST PRESSURE WASHING. It's not an industry. Don't make it more than it is. Any joe blow homeowner can do the same thing we do if he had the time or equipment. Some people own painting companies, some own lawn care companies, I own a pressure washing company. I provide a service for a price. I could not care less what my competition charges or does. It has no bearing on my business. When others start pushing for things that will change my business model and create more headache for me, I am opposed to it. That is why I don't want to see more regulations, license, Union, PWNA or anything else that wants to "help" me. I got this, I don't need/want help from others. Fight for what you believe in. We are both doing it, we are just on opposite sides of the fence.
  12. LOL, If he paid taxes on what he claims to make California wouldn't be bankrupt.
  13. Why does everyone feel the need to legitimize this job or gain respect from the public. Vital and valid. We pressure wash things. It is not rocket science, does not take much common sense(as is shown here often) and is just a mediocre blue collar job. People call us to do what they don't want to do, just like pumping septic tanks or laying shingles. More attention or publicity you try to bring to something, the more the gov't wants to get involved. We have enough problems to fight with clubs like the ***** or PWNA doing this already. Why try to bring it on ourselves?
  14. Jim, you said prices went up 1,000 percent. Then you said business don't have to pay. I am not going to justify the rest of your ravings with answers. It will get niether one of us anywhere. Your state is going bankrupt, not mine. Keep doing what your doing.
  15. So because of gov't: Business has to pay higher prices for the same service, gov't employees secure their salaries by fines placed on small business owners, and smaller companies(the hispanic's that you seem to have a racial problem with) have gone under. Looks like a great system, keep it on the Left coast.
  16. I feel like I am fighting ObamaCare. Does no one see the evil associated with orgs, unions and license. Keep gov't and all meddling away from private business. If customers are not happy with someone's work, they just won't call them next time. I am amazed at how many people the BBB sucker into joining them. Think about how many large successful companies fall for their spiel.
  17. Why Power Wash?

I usually hang up if they start asking all those questions. Life is to short. When I leave a house and they ask when they should have it cleaned again my standard reply is, "when you can't stand looking at it dirty again".
  18. Diego is just hard headed about somethings. When I had hot water in my trailer I vented it out the top with stovepipe.

Why waste time calling for a clarification from an antagonistic person when something is written in black and white?
  21. Question / Help

Why would you want photo's of work you have not done. Go wash something for free and take a picture of it. Ditto on what Douglas said.
  22. Feeling a bit....... honored!!!!!

There is now way Sam was as loud as Ron is.
  23. Feeling a bit....... honored!!!!!

I enjoyed talking to you also.
  24. Burnout, How do you handle it.

I have stuck with the washing for about 10 years. I care nothing for it or the industry per se. It is just a good cash cow. I have had several other endeavors that I owned and closed up or sold. If you get burnt out, quit and do something else. I was at the Fire Department and quit after 12 years because I didn't want to work my 7 christmas day in a row. There is always another way to make a buck if you hustle. If you are burnt out on washing, sell or give everything away and start singing. I have drove tractor trailers, cleaned carpet, turned wrenches in a diesel shop, been a cop, been a fireman and a ran my own framing/siding crews. I don't turn 40 for another 5 months. Point is, do whatever you want to do, you only live once. I have a great wife of 16years who has not had to work since my oldest son was born 11 years ago. She go alongs with every job I quit or business I sell and just rolls her eyes sometimes. I bought a road tractor 3 years ago when I saw Ice Road truckers on TV. Spent 2 months jumping thru hoops and insurance to find out that unless your Canadian with a lot of miles logged up North you ain't got a chance of driving. I was going to do it for a few months cause it looked cool. Made money when I turned around and sold the Mack and am now waiting to see what bug bites me next.
