  1. Adjusting unloader

A pressure gauge should have no bearing on a pressure washer, especially when setting the unloader. Use the correct zero tip for your machine(a #9 in my case) and start flowing water, adjust the unloader until there is no water being bypassed when you are pulling the trigger. You are now flowing the maximum amount of water your machine can flow. Pressure should be irrelevant.

  3. Soft Scrub® with Baking Soda Cleanser Just squirt a dab on a sponge, wet the window and rub lightly. Go easy and it won't scratch the window.
  4. Charlie, try soft scub. Been there, done that. You got a truck yet?
  5. Pump of choice

I have 4 udor pumps that are over 4 years old and have never been rebuilt. Two newest pumps are two years old with no problems. General has finally starting switching to u packs instead of v packs, so they should be a little more reliable. Generals and comets make good door stops to keep the shop door open:)
  6. What is the biggest challenge to your business right now? Keeping up with work load and not getting behind schedule What can you do or did you do to overcome that challenge? Pay more overtime and stretch M-F days to 11 hours and Sat to 10 hours Was your effort successful and why or why not? Guys are burnt out and don't care about the money as much as you would think. If the challenge is beyond your control what are you doing to try to manage your business in spite of it? Working harder Where is your business right now compared to where you thought it might be at the beginning of the year? On par Where do you see your business in the next 12 months based upon your specific area? Branching into Virginia and concentrating more on NC/TN One thing I would like to do is finish getting to the point where I don't have to market/advertise anymore. I shut down the yellow pages ad a few years ago and quit all printed advertising.
  7. Testing

Ladies and gentlemen, hobos and aunts, cross-eyed turtles and bow legged pants. I stand before you to sit down behind you to tell you a story I know nothing about. One day two dead boys were up to bat, back to back but facing each other. They pulled out their swords and shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise and came to see the two dead boys. If you don't believe my story is true, go ask the blind man, he saw it too.
  8. Testing

Yes, I actually took the day off because 2 of my boys had soccer games and award presentations. Every one else worked. Looking forward to a slow down for a few days.
  9. I vented by oil fired, 115 volt burner out of the top of my enclosed trailer using 8" stove pipe reduced to a 6" vent cap on top. Now I start it up and get serious exhaust build up, to the point that it kicks the reset button. Before venting I had to replace the transformer but never started the machine until I did the venting. Could my problem be with the venting, an injector nozzle, etc. Had to vent it my self because Landa nor any other local vendors would do it, citing liability reasons. Thanks. 10. burner problems

Thanks for the respsonse. I am not trying to lower my pressure any. I guess that the 6 inch pipe could be causing the exhaust problems. Xterior is going to adjust the bands and look over it for me monday. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks
  11. Test with X-Jet

I have been using the prototype from Xterior for about the past 2 years as they have been working the bugs out. If you email me I will tell you where to find them but I don't want to do to Beth's board what happened elsewhere. offdutyfiremanpressurewashing@yahoo.com :arg:
  12. Test with X-Jet

I was refering to the comment you made on the distance of your X-jet. You said you only averaged about 20 feet. Was just trying to help you with the reach. The M-5 is the new X-jet with a variable tip so you don't need to screw in the close range nozzle. Sorry for the confusion.
  13. Test with X-Jet

Maybe you have the wrong orifice if you are getting only 20'. I have several, including the new m-5, and easily get 35'. William Page.
  14. should i buy the x-jet????????

Wasn't trying to bust on you. I've been driving fire engines since '89. If I knew as much about pressurewashing as I did hydraulics I would probably be rich by now. lol.
  15. should i buy the x-jet????????

Drafting is not sucking. To draft you have to lower the atmospheric pressure (14.7 at sea level) to displace the air and allow the water to take its place. The reason fire pumps have primers is because the pump itself cannot pump air, which is necessary to suck water. Like siphoning gas with a hose.
  16. should i buy the x-jet????????

Nice to see someones knows about friction loss. Remember though that fire pumps cannot suck water, centrifigul versus non.
