It appears the pic Alan posted of the quick connects are similar to mine. Notice the small prong protruding from the plug. That is the valve stem configuration I spoke of above. When connected, this prong is depressed thus allowing a flow. If you buy that discription, I have some land for sale in ------.

I have quick connects on my air compresser tools that have a valve stem type configuration that stops the air even on the plug.

Love this deck!
GymRat replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Beautiful deck, I want one. -
You are welcome. Nothing wrong with pre-planning a job before jumping right in. No matter what, you will always have surprises, you just try to keep them to a minimum.

I use mine to clean my dog. OOOOPs I don't have a dog--- Maybe thats why he ran away.

With safety being my main concern, I would like to talk with someone on the ratios of chemicals they mix for home brew cleaning solutions. The reason I a'm asking for help on this topic is I just talked with my local chemical rep(which I curently buy 12.5% sodium hypochlorite from), and he asked if I could use any of his other products. He carries oxalic acid, Sodium percarbonate, and Sodium hydroxide at a very reasonable prices. I would like to save on the shipping cost, but I repeat, I want to make sure nothing goes sizzle, or BoooooM, and I don't grow a third or fourth eye. I know you usually always add the chemical to the water, and always wear your PPE. I would like some ratios for different cleaning applications, and of course does and don'ts. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

You are going to make me beg for this information. Please help if you can. I hope this is not a forbidden queston on chemical formulas. I don't want to step on any toes. Thank you for your help. Raining here again today, but at least it is not freezing. Bring on the warm weather.

Thanks Rocco, but I still am looking to learn how some mix in certain chemicals to make their home brews. I know some don't like to put their secrets out in the open, but shoot me an email or give me a number to call would be great.

Use the search engine on this site, there is a recent thread on using a 55 gallon drum and plumbing in a hudson float valve.

Custom made portable hose reel...
GymRat replied to svp07's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Like Tony said, the less trips the better your day will go. If you have room to put the cart in the trailer, you should have room to mount a reel on your pressure washer and a garden hose reel on the wall of your trailer. With a few extra fiittings ( maybe a double male, or a double female garden hose fitting) you can do a reverse lay and have the outlet of the hose reel plumbed right to your washer and pull the hose off the garden hose reel to hook into the house spigot. Turn the water on and go to it. -
Question about enclosed trailer
GymRat replied to flimmy's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If it is a great deal on the 6X12 enclosed trailer, I would go with it for a starter trailer. Trailers hold their value and resale will be easy. I agree with the concern thathauling water would overload this trailer. I like having an enclosed trailer for several reasons, like security, changing out of wet clothes, keeping harsh chemicals out of reach of children, animals, and curious adults. -
Automatic water shut off: needed
GymRat replied to RyanH's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I think you will be pleased with the Hudson valve Ryan. I do not like the ball type float due to the movement of water in the tank while traveling. -
Just bought a new enclosed trailer and can obtain free of charge two verticle 100 Gallon water tanks. My question is can I mount these tanks on seperate sides of the trailer above the axles by just strappping them to the walls. I will be mounting the surface mount rings on the studs and using ratchet type straps around the tanks. I will use 2 to 3 straps per tank. Will this hold the tank in place, or will this be to much stress on the trailer walls. I also have some heavy guage plastic bases the tank can sit in. I thought I would mount these to the floor and set the tanks in them for extra support. The tank will recess in these plastic bases approximately 5 inches, with just the weight of the tank holding them in place and the straps holding them to the walls. Good idea or real bad idea?

Anybody seen these for decks?
GymRat replied to RyanH's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have seen a few people hang the plastic unvented soffit under there decks, sloped away from the house to chanel water away. It actually looks good and is real reasonable to do yourself. -
Tony, my thoughts exactly, I know I would not be able to tow anything much bigger than my 6X12 enclosed trailer through some of the narrow streets in the local neighborhoods. I don't need a garage on wheels, just a good size shed, but of course its just my 2 cents worth, and everyone has an opinion.

Went out this morning to clean a large house, and it was sprinkiling rain. Halfway through the job the snow starting falling, and I just had to laugh at myself and keep on doing the job. That hot shower felt awesome. Rain, Snow or Shine, We idiots deliver.

I have a 55 gallon drum of sodium hypochlorite and a 55 gallon drum of my house cleaning detergent that I transfer to 5 gallon containers via a lutz pump. I have to switch the pump from drum to drum to acomplish this. I have to buy something else to make this less of a hassle. Wanted to know what is everyones favorite pump or transfer equipment for 55gallon drums?
-
Thanks Seymore, Do you just add one of those nylon spigots to the bung?
-
Should I mount these tanks between the double axles, or midway between the axles and the front of the trailer?

I have one of those wippy noodle extention wands from northern, and have heard mention of someone using a tennis ball in the gun to help free your trigger hand up. Was I hearing this right, or just hearing things ( you know like the wife saying I wasn't listening to her). Wanted to know of any tricks to take the strain of the old body so I can still lift a beer at the end of the day. Thanks

Water in the Gas tank
GymRat replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I would thing the line coming from the tank would have a screen on the end of it to keep this problem from happening. It is a good idea to install one if you can. These are usually long flat sock like screens that extend from the end of that barb you are talking about. -
Thinks everyone for all of the good ideas and safety concerns.

I thought most screens have to removed from the inside. I would have to really flex the screens to remove them from the outside. Most windows around here have the half screens where you can slide them up and down from the outside. Maybe I don,t understand ? I don't do windows as of yet. I just hit them with my house wash solution and rinse rinse rinse.
